Towards Hope Seeking Intervention Based on Individual Experience in Palliative Care (완화돌봄에서 개인 경험에 근거한 희망 중재를 향하여)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to discuss challenges for hope seeking intervention based on individual experience (HSIBIE) in palliative care, assuming that hope is an individualized unique, subjective, and dynamic experience. Methods: Literature, including analysis and discussion, was reviewed to identify limitations and ways to develop HSIBIE. Results: This study identified following challenges: 1. Hope was often described and utilized as a standardized unified structure with varying attributes or mono-structure emphasizing a realistic hope, or both of them (relativism vs. monism) in one literature. This challenge is represented as a problem in conceptualization. 2. Few studies discussed various patterns of hope or individuals' unique experiences in palliative care. 3. The HSIBIE and the method for the HSIBIE have been rarely discussed. Conclusion: A problem in conceptualization is often related to fixed ideas formed over a long period and used in a closed circle of scholars and professionals. Therefore, such fixed ideas should be openly challenged with fresh perspectives. The second issue requires a cross-cultural studies of various hope experiences in palliative care, which can be used for effective and appropriate HSIBIE.

  • Where the industrial waste is increasing in number of kind and in quantities by the industrialization and population increases, the pollution problem is not only national but grobal question of the day. This paper is trying to invite attentions by the people who are working in both sector-natural sciences and industries in reviewing limited reports and materials. 1. By the chemical evaluation of over 20 industrial waste produced in Korea, potential wastes for commercial fertilizer would be wastes from alcohol fermantation, beer brewery, leather processing, synthetic fiber, and coffee grounds. 2. The composition of city waste is differ from other countries and sludge cake from human feces processing is promising one in the organic matter and phosphate content particularly. However, the content of heavy matals, specific order, and availability of phosphate are the bottle-neck for the development. 3. There is one commercial fertilizer from industrial waste in the market. It is very reasonable in the content of nitrogen and organic matter, and its formulation and responeses on crops. 4. Discussions were also given on the general problems in processing and marketing of fertilizers from industrial waste, however, scientists and industrial owners have to pay more attention on the development of fertilizers from tire industrial wastes because of vital environmental protection view-point.

Hydrological Forecasting Based on Hybrid Neural Networks in a Small Watershed (중소하천유역에서 Hybrid Neural Networks에 의한 수문학적 예측)

  • In this study, Radial Basis Function(RBF) Neural Networks Model, a kind of Hybrid Neural Networks was applied to hydrological forecasting in a small watershed. RBF Neural Networks Model has four kinds of parameters in it and consists of unsupervised and supervised training patterns. And Gaussian Kernel Function(GKF) was used among many kinds of Radial Basis Functions(RBFs). K-Means clustering algorithm was applied to optimize centers and widths which ate the parameters of GKF. The parameters of RBF Neural Networks Model such as centers, widths weights and biases were determined by the training procedures of RBF Neural Networks Model. And, with these parameters the validation procedures of RBF Neural Networks Model were carried out. RBF Neural Networks Model was applied to Wi-Stream basin which is one of the IHP Representative basins in South Korea. 10 rainfall events were selected for training and validation of RBF Neural Networks Model. The results of RBF Neural Networks Model were compared with those of Elman Neural Networks(ENN) Model. ENN Model is composed of One Step Secant BackPropagation(OSSBP) and Resilient BackPropagation(RBP) algorithms. RBF Neural Networks shows better results than ENN Model. RBF Neural Networks Model spent less time for the training of model and can be easily used by the hydrologists with little background knowledge of RBF Neural Networks Model.

  • 홍수와 가뭄의 증가, 수질악화, 물부족 등 물 문제 해결을 위한 대안으로 통합수자원관리에 대한 논의가 국제사회에서 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 국내에서도 많은 학자들이 수자원관리를 위한 새로운 대안으로 통합수자원관리를 주장하고 있지만, 추상적인 설명이 대부분이다. 따라서 본 연구는 통합수자원관리에 대한 정의, 원칙, 추진전략 등을 정리하여 통합수자원관리에 대한 종합적이고 체계적인 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 흐름을 갖는다. 첫째, 수자원관리를 위한 새로운 대안으로 통합수자원관리가 등장하게 된 배경을 살펴보았다. 물문제를 해결하기 위해서는 연속적이고 상호작용하는 하나의 '시스템(係)'으로 수자원을 인식하고 관리해야 한다는 주장이 확산되고 있으며, 통합수자원관리가 그러한 인식을 갖고 있는 대안으로 등장하였다. 둘째, 통합수자원관리의 정의, 원칙 등을 조사하였다. 통합수자원관리는 자연의 지속가능성을 훼손하지 않으면서 경제적, 사회적 복지를 최대화하기 위하여 물, 토지 및 관련 자원의 조화로운 개발을 위한 과정으로 정의된다. 이러한 통합수자원관리를 위한 원칙으로는 지속가능한 수자원의 개발, 이용 및 관리원칙, 물순환 체계 고려 및 유역관리원칙, 이해당사자 참여 및 조정의 원칙, 비용부담 및 편익 균형배분의 원칙 등이 있다. 셋째, 통합수자원관리를 위한 추진방안을 제시하였다. 법제도 정비 및 부문별 통합관리강화, 수자원 관련 자료의 신뢰도 제고 및 의사결정 체계 구축, 관련계획과의 연계, 계획-실행-평가의 순환구축, 물관리 비용부담체계 구축 등이 통합수자원관리의 실행을 앞당길 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 통합수자원관리에 대하여 종합적인 정보를 제공하고 개선을 위한 추진방안을 제시하여 국내 수자원관리의 문제해결을 위한 기반을 구축하는 데에 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 범람범위의 1차적인 정보에서 수립할 수 있었던 계획이 가질 수 있었던 한계점을 좀 더 향상된 정보를 이용하여 극복함으로써 효율적이고 체계적인 치수 방재 계획수립이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.group) 67개, 속(family) 161개로 분류되었으며, 가장 저차단위인 통(series)이 390개 분류되었다. 또한 작물이용측면에서 실용적 분류를 실시하였는데, 논토양의 경우 보통논, 미숙논, 사질논, 습논, 염해논, 특이산성논으로 분류할 경우 각각의 분포면적이 31.9%, 23.0%, 31.9%, 9.1%, 3.9%, 0.2%이었다. 밭토양의 경우에도 보통밭, 사질밭, 미숙밭, 중점밭, 고원밭, 화산회밭으로 6개 유형으로 분류할 경우 각각의 분포면적은 41.9%, 23.3%, 17.5%, 13.9%, 1.1. 2.2% 이었다. 도시화 및 도로확대 등 다양한 토지이용 및 지형개변으로 과거의 토양정보가 많이 변경되었다. 그래서, 앞으로는 인공위성자료 및 항공사진을 이용하여 빠르고 쉽게 활용할 수 있는 토양조사 방법개발과 기 구축된 토양도의 수정, 보완 작업이 필요한 절실히 요구되고 있는 현실이다.브로 출시에 따른 마케팅 및 고객관리와 관련된 시사점을 논의한다.는 교합면에서 2, 3, 4군이 1군에 비해 변연적합도가 높았으며 (p < 0.05), 인접면과 치은면에서는 군간 유의차를 보이지 않았다 이번 연구를 통하여 복합레진을 간헐적 광중합시킴으로써 변연적합도가 향상될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.시장에 비해 주가가 비교적 안정적인 수준을 유지해 왔다고 볼 수 있다.36.4%)와 외식을 선호(29.1%)${\lrcorner}$ 하기 때문에 패스트푸드를 이용하게 된 것으로 응답 하였으며, 남 여 대학생간에는 유의한 차이(p<0.05)가 인정되었다. 응답자의 체형은 ${\

Evolution of Agrometeorology at the Global Level (농업기상학의 역사)

  • Agricultural meteorology has advanced during the last 100 years from a descriptive to a quantitative science using physical and biological principles. The agricultural community is becoming more aware that using climate and weather information will improve their profitability and this will no doubt increase the demand for agrometeorological services. Hence it is timely that the needs and perspectives for agrometeorology in the 21$^{21}$ Century are grouped under two major headings: agrometeorological services for agricultural production and agrometeorological support systems for such services. Emphasis must be placed on the components of such support systems comprising of data, research, policies and training/education/extension. As Monteith (2000) mentioned, food supplies ultimately depend upon the skill with which farmers ran exploit the potential of good weather and minimize the impact of bad weather. Recent developments in instrumentation, data management systems, climate prediction, crop modelling, dissemination of agrometeorological information etc., provide agrometeorologists the tools necessary help the farmers improve such skills. The future for operational applications of agricultural meteorology appears bright and such applications could contribute substantially to promote sustainable agriculture and alleviate poverty.

The Economic Impact of Contaminated and Noxious Sites : A Meta Analysis (오염-유해시설의 경제적 영향 : 메타분석)

  • This paper reports a quantitative meta analysis of the economic impacts of localized noxious and contaminated sites. Using either hedonic property value or stated preference methods, economists have studied the effects of contamination or noxious activities, or the benefits realized from their elimination, on real estate prices at more than 40 sites. In support of wise public and private investments in environmental quality, most of these studies aim to inform decision makers about the benefits of remediation and cleanup. Their results vary considerably, but there has been no previous systematic effort to analyze the differences and identify shared insights. This study uses established methods of meta analysis to identify points of agreement and differences in this body of literature. The studies are characterized by the type of site, modeling approach, geographic extent of impacts, data features, and other key factors that underlie their value estimates. The impact estimates are normalized as proportional effects on property values. This study attempts to discover whether the estimated economic impacts of contamination or noxious activity differ according to these characteristics of the studies, and whether anything general can be said about the economic consequences of site contamination and remediation. Bivariate, multivariate, and logit techniques are applied to the data. The results suggest that the property value is the most sensitive to water base contamination, published case studies result in systematically greater environmental value than those in unpublished reports, and real estate markets show responses to environmental condition changes.

Socio-ecological and Capital Evaluation on the Development Plan of Development-promoted Districts in Kyungpook Province, South Korea (개발촉진지구의 발전 계획에 대한 사회.환경.자본 관점에서의 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to critically evaluate the DPD development plan of Kyungpook province, which was established in 1996 and slightly revised in 1997 in terms of a theoretical framework, fair distribution and ecological sustainability, and the feasibility of capital supply of the proposed plan. The early part of the proposed plan introduces various theories and approaches developed in regional (or local) development planning as a general after the 1970s. However, the theories and approaches mentioned are not used as a guideline to establish the DPD development plan of Kyungpook province as a historically developed particular place. Most of the plans were tourism-oriented and did not seriously take the local characteristics into account. All the DPDs of Kyungpook province are located in the upper parts of the Nakdong River basin. So those regions are ecologically vulnerable. But a lot of problems remain concerning the environmental impacts of the proposed development plan. In terms of fair distribution and ecological sustainability, it seems that the DPD development plan was routinely made by a handful of professors and administrators, based on a standard format of regional (or local) development as a genera]. Finally, capital is the key factor for successfully implementing the DPD development plan. It came from the national and local government and private investors. The government have generally financed the construction of infrastructures, not profit-oriented projects such as tourism and resort businesses. However, the feasibility of private capital was not carefully examined in the plan.

Uniform Posture Map Algorithm to Generate Natural Motion Transitions in Real-time (자연스러운 실시간 동작 전이 생성을 위한 균등 자세 지도 알고리즘)

  • It is important to reuse existing motion capture data for reduction of the animation producing cost as well as efficiency of producing process. Because its motion curve has no control point, however, it is difficult to modify the captured data interactively. The motion transition is a useful method to reuse the existing motion data. It generates a seamless intermediate motion with two short motion sequences. In this paper, Uniform Posture Map (UPM) algorithm is proposed to perform the motion transition. Since the UPM is organized through quantization of various postures with an unsupervised learning algorithm, it places the output neurons with similar posture in adjacent position. Using this property, an intermediate posture of two active postures is generated; the generating posture is used as a key-frame to make an interpolating motion. The UPM algorithm needs much less computational cost, in comparison with other motion transition algorithms. It provides a control parameter; an animator could control the motion simply by adjusting the parameter. These merits of the UPM make an animator to produce the animation interactively. The UPM algorithm prevents from generating an unreal posture in learning phase. It not only makes more realistic motion curves, but also contributes to making more natural motions. The motion transition algorithm proposed in this paper could be applied to the various fields such as real time 3D games, virtual reality applications, web 3D applications, and etc.

The nature of practical problem focused Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum (실천적 문제 중심 가정과 교육과정의 이해)

  • The national level curriculum revision is underway in Korea. A proposed model of family and consumer sciences curriculum was proposed for a public hearing, which was held in December 15, 2005. In the model curriculum, practical problem focused curriculum development approach is partially adopted. However, there is lack of understanding for the practical problem focused curriculum, therefore correct understanding of it is needed. This study tried to promote understanding of the nature of perennial practical problem that FCS deals with and of a conceptual framework of practical problem focused curriculum development. Seven competing topics related with practical problem focused curriculum are discussed for resolving misunderstandings and prejudice on it. From the discussion, it is concluded that practical problem focused curriculum is meeting the needs of students' present and future individual and family life.

The Countercultural Influence on American Youth Fashion - Indian Styles Appeared in American College Fashion - (미국청년 복식에 나타난 반문화의 영향에 관한 연구 - 미국대학 복식에 나타난 인도스타일을 중심으로-)

  • 본 연구는 1960년대 미국의 청년층에 의해 일어난 반문화적인 현상으로 인식되어온 동양문화의 도입, 특히, 인도문화가 청년문화 전반에 끼친 영향과 더 나아가 이러한 환경변화가 미국대학복식에 미친 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 1960년대 미국청년문화에 나타난 인도 문화의 영향은 철학, 종교 대중음악 등 다방면에서 보여졌으며, 또한 복식의 형태에도 반영되었다. 복식학자들에 의한 단편적인 추론에만 그쳤던 이러한 복식의 현상을 본 연구는 문헌조사에 의한 객관적이고 과학적인 연구방법을 이용하여 입증하고자 시도하였다. Washington, D.C.와 San Francisco/Berkeley 지역에 위치한 7개의 대학교에서 1960년 부터 1975년 사이에 발행한 대학신문에서 연구자료를 수집하여, 체계적인 자료수집 및 분석을 위한 연구방법으로 사회과학분야에서 주로 사용되어 온 Content Analysis Method를 이용하였다. Content Analysis Method는 예비연구(preliminary study)의 결과를 기초로 인도 복식의 영향을 받은 미국대학복식의 형태를 크게 의복(clothes), 장신구(accessories), 직물(fabrics) 등의 3개 category로 분류하여, 다시 13개의 subcategory(kurta, midriff top, Nehru jacket/suit, Indian shirt/blouse/smock/dress, sari, Indian jewelry, Indian sandal, Indian urn, Indian bedspread. Indian embroidery, Indian print, madras, tie-dye)로 세분하였다. 복식의 형태에 의한 분류외에도, 대학신문의 광고나 기사에 실린 내용을 인도복식이 미친 엮향의 정보를 알아보기 위하여 Attribution information을 3 category(originated, attributed, connotated)로 분류하여 조사하였다. 더불어, 같은 문헌에 나타난 인도에서 도입된 4개의 주된 종교(Transcendental Meditation, Hare Krishna, Yoga. Divine Light Mission)의 빈도도 조사하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 13개의 가인도복식스타일(Indian style)의 Frequency(빈도), Attribution, Duration(기간)의 내응을 포함하는 표로 요약되었다. 또한, 연도별로 Indian style이 나타난 빈도의 Duration(기간)의 내용을 포함하는 표로 요약되었다. 또한, 연도별로 Indian style이 나타난 빈도의 합계와 연도를 축으로 하는 막대그래프를 작성하고 이 그래프에 Attribution Category의 내용도 함께 볼 수 있도록 정리하였다. 대학복식에 나타난 인도의 영향은 여성복식과 남성복식에 있어서 서로 유사점과 차이점이 보이는데, 인도의 영향이 여성복식에 있어서 그 빈도가 더 높고, 종류가 더 다양함을 볼 수 있다. 여성복식에 있어서는 12가지의 다양한 인도복식스타일이 나타났으며, 그중 가장 많이 보이는 스타일은 Indian Shirt/Blouse/Smock/ Dress이며, 그 뒤를 이어 Madras, Indian lowery등을 볼 수 있다. 남성복식애 나타난 7가지의 스타일 중에는 Madras가 가장 빈도가 높으며 그외의 스타일들은 그 빈도가 매우 낮음을 볼 수 있다. 인도의 영향의 정도 (Attribution Categories) 있어서는 여성과 남성복식 모두에 있어서 인도에서 직접 수입된(originated) item이 각각 전체의 90%와 81%를 차지하여, 인도복식의 영향은 받았으나 미국내에서 제작된(attributed and connotated) item 보다 휠씬 더 많은 수를 보였다. 인도복식스타일이 가장 많이 보여지는 시기(Peak period)는 여성과 남성복식에 있어 모두 1968년에서 1971년 사이로 공통점을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 미국 청년 문화에 전반적으로 나타났던 반문화적 현상과 동일한 시기로서, 이는 사회 현상이 복식에도 반영되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 같은 시기의 대학신문에 나타난 인도에서 도입된 4 개의 종교 역시 1960년대 후반 부터 그 빈도가 증가하여 1970년에 리고의 빈도가나타낭으로서 앞의 결과를 뒷받침해 주고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Washington,D.C.와 San Francisco/Berkeley 지역의 대학신문만을 연구자료로 사용하였으나 앞으로는 새로운 연구 자료의 발굴과 연구대상을 타 지역으로 확대시키므로서 미국내 전체의 청년복식에 대한 이해를 증가시킬 수 있을 것이다.
