The importance of mathematics is increasing as human beings are entering the 4th industrial revolution era from the information society. In response to this trend, the government is also paying a lot of attention to math education by addressing 2012 mathematics education as 'the year of mathematics education.' However, many students are still suffering from mathematics and they feel math is difficult and even give up math. For this cause, students who give up math are showing up a lot in middle and high schools. For these math low achievers, the government, educational institutions, research institutes, and schools are creating and implementing a lot of programs. Among these programs, there is also a program called Math Clinic counseling. However, most of these math clinic counseling end up in a one-time events or are not linked to class because counselors and math teachers are different. So, this research focuses on this fact : gap between math clinical counseling and real mathematics class. The study analyze the reasons of the cause of low level of self-confidence in math and high level of math anxiety from the students. And it suggests some strategies for the individual students base on their difficulties. Applying these strategies to the students, the study mainly focused on how the strategies are presented in real class by observing practical classes.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the the effect on the academic improvement, applying various teaching methods throughout cooperative teaming in small groups to inspire slow-learners'interest on mathematics and impove capability to solve problems and achievement degree of studies. The subject of the study is as follows: 1. What is the difference of students'interest on mathematics between cooperative learning in small groups and large group learning\ulcorner 2. Is there any difference of slow-learners' achievement degree of studies between cooperative learning in small groups and large group learning?
This research has the purpose of seeking and developing the efficient method for the students suffering from the problem “underachievement”, by improving learning and teaching method, by increasing students' interest in learning and desire to study, and by changing their weak and poor teaming attitudes into desirable and positive ones.
Sleepiness is associated with many different conditions and, as a neglected topic, it can be the cause of serious psychological and social disadvantages. In the aspect of learning, additional problems may arise from poor progress in school caused by the effect of sleepiness on concentration, memory, and other cognitive functions. Narcolepsy is by no means the most common cause of excessive sleepiness. Nonetheless, it is not a rarity, especially in young people. The non-specific nature of early features of narcolepsy, combined with very limited awareness that the condition can start in various ways, leads to many misinterpretations. Misinterpretation of narcolepsy symptoms is not confined to the medical profession. Teachers may well be critical of a student with narcolepsy because of their perception of narcolepsy symptoms as laziness, poor motivation, or difficult behavior and dull learning ability. Inappropriate reactions by parents, teachers, and peers, based on misinterpretation of narcolepsy symptoms or the patient's reactions to them, make a difficult situation worse. Especially in Korea, where schooling is focused on college entrance examinations, the problem is very serious and intensified by inappropriate or delayed diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, psychiatrists should be aware that narcolepsy in young adolescents is not rare and that they need to be familiar with its clinical features in both its classic and less obvious forms. Narcolepsy should be suspected if a adolescent's excessive sleepiness can not be explained in other ways. Therefore, we report on two patients who portray the tendency of dull learning ability and are mistaken as idle students. We diagnosed narcolepsy through polysomnography and multiple sleep latency testing. We treated the students with methylphenidate and pemolin. The students showed improvement in learning ability and were able to adapt better to school.
Many undergraduate engineering freshmen have difficulties in attending major courses due to their poor basic academic ability. Regardless of the university level it is a reality in universities all over the country. In order to solve the problems of poor learning and basic academic ability, in this study, students who want to major in mechanical engineering at A university, it was confirmed the effectiveness and surveyed the satisfaction with the questionnaire. The pre and post test results showed that the A group improved scores by 40.1% and the B group by 18.9%. Questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews conducted after the completion of the program. It showed that the basic learning ability achievement program was highly satisfied with the overall average of 90.6% (4.53/5.0) and an useful program which not only contributed to the interest in the major subjects and the confidence in the academic achievement but also build positive relationships between the student and professor.

Based on Merrill's instructional theory, this study pursued to develop a demonstration-based architectural design class operation model for the 3rd year undergraduate students taking a Spring semester design studio class. The model was designed and used particularly to improve architectural thinking abilities of under-motivated learners. Learning effects of the model were examined based on the preliminary data obtained for 3 consecutive years, 2017 through 2019. A total of 52 students were participated in the class and observed by the instructor. Once developed, the model has been continually updated and improved based on results of each class operation. Five types of demo. were used in the model. First, direct contacts of the instructor with under-motivated learners were turned out to be the most preferred demo(demo. 4), while watching and listening of the demo(demo.3) between the instructor and motivated learners taking place in class was ranked at the second place. Belief of under-motivated learners on the instructor as a professional should be highly valued for improving their architectural thinking abilities. Second, motivated peers' direct help for under-motivated ones was placed in the third rank. Social attitudes of under-motivated learners towards accepting motivated ones' helps were determined the particular demo's appropriateness. Third, a set of guidelines for operating the model in undergraduate design studio classes were developed and suggested.

The diagnostic evaluation conducted at the national level is very important to detect underachievers in school early. This study used an artificial intelligence method to find the characteristics of underachievers that affect learning development for middle school students. In this study an artificial intelligence model was constructed and analyzed to determine whether the Busan Education Longitudinal Data in 2020 by entering data from the first year of middle school in 2019. A predictive model was developed to predict basic middle school Korean, English, and mathematics education with machine learning algorithms, and it was confirmed that the accuracy was 78%, 82%, and 83%, respectively, in the prediction for the next school year. In addition, by drawing an achievement prediction decision tree for each middle school subject we are analyzing the process of prediction. Finally, we examined what characteristics affect achievement prediction.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of peer tutoring on mathematical inclination and mathematical communication ability of peer tutor. For the purpose of this study, research questions were established as follows: 1. How does peer tutoring affect to the mathematical inclination of peer tutors? 2. How does peer tutoring affect to the mathematical communication ability of peer tutors? To answer the research questions, four 5th grade peer tutors were selected for qualitative case study in an elementary school located in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. Before and after 11 weeks of peer tutoring in their mathematics classes, mathematical inclination, mathematical communication ability of peer tutors were examined. For qualitative analysis, peer tutors were asked to complete worksheets, self-evaluation, journal for their peer tutoring in daily basis during the experiment. By comparing the scores in mathematical inclination test and mathematical communication test before and after the treatment and analyzing the data gathered for qualitative analysis, the conclusions were drawn as follows: First, Peer tutoring has positive effects on the mathematical inclination of peer tutors. Scores for mathematical inclination of peer tutors after the treatment increased and qualitative analysis showed positive change in their attitude toward mathematics. Second, Peer tutoring has positive effects on the mathematical communication ability of peer tutors. Scores in the performance assessment for mathematical communication ability of peer tutors after the treatment increased. Also qualitative analysis showed that peer tutors tried to develop various ways to solve a problem and explained them to their peer tutee sophisticatedly.
This study examined the effect of coaching based on private tutoring on students' learning ability and academic achievement in university mathematics education. Those in the coaching group showed statistical significance in academic achievement compared to those in the non-coaching group. In addition, the coaching was found to be more effective for those with poor academic performance or women than those with excellent academic performance or men respectively. Due to limitations on survey time and number of respondents, it is difficult to draw a general conclusion about the effect of coaching in university mathematics education. Still, it is significant that the study applies coaching as a method to teach students university mathematics for the first time and the results are in consistent with those of previous studies on other subjects.
