In this study, the characteristics of scholarly communication through the Web and scientific journals are explored, and scholarly communication patterns in two scientific disciplines are compared to reveal the difference. Economics and Computer Science-Information Systems are selected as two disciplines to be analyzed. In the data collection process, 10 keywords are extracted from a database for each subject field, and scholarly Web pages and journal articles related to these keywords are collected and analyzed. Our investigation includes the characteristics of scholarly Web pages, Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis of co-linked Web pages as well as co-cited journal articles, and changes in the scholarly communication activities occurring on the Web and in scientific journals respectively over time. We found certain differences as well as common features in scholarly communication patterns between the Web and scientific journals for both fields of Economics and Computer Science. We also found that scholarly communication occurring on the Web displays unique features for each subtopic within the same field of study.

This study aims to identify the academic landscape of the field of Library and Information Science by analyzing the research areas of the four major domestic journals using structural topic modeling and network analysis. The results show that each journal focuses on different research areas. The Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science covers the most comprehensive range of research areas in the field, while the Journal of the Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science shows a similar research trend but with a higher preference for research areas related to library management and library programs. The Journal of Korean Library and Information Science Society deals more with topics related to school libraries and reading education and the Journal of the Korean Society for Information Management focuses more on information technology and information science. This study is able to provide valuable foundational data for researchers in submitting their papers and for the topical specialization and diversification of the journals in the field of Library and Information Science.

Data journals and data papers have grown and considered an important scholarly practice in the paradigm of open science in the context of data sharing and data reuse. This study investigates a total of 713 data papers published in Scientific Data in terms of author, citation, and subject areas. The findings of the study show that the subject areas of core authors are found as the areas of Biotechnology and Physics. An average number of co-authors is 12 and the patterns of co-authorship are recognized as several closed sub-networks. In terms of citation status, the subject areas of cited publications are highly similar to the areas of data paper authors. However, the citation analysis indicates that there are considerable citations on the journals specialized on methodology. The network with authors' keywords identifies more detailed areas such as marine ecology, cancer, genome, database, and temperature. This result indicates that biology oriented-subjects are primary areas in the journal although Scientific Data is categorized in multidisciplinary science in Web of Science database.

This study examined two characteristics of library and information science (LIS) journals in Korea through analysis of journal coupling with common authors. This study also illustrated the trend of Korean LIS research in the recent decade. The notable change is that record management and archival studies settle in LIS domain as a major research area. We introduced two indicators, Publishing Preference Index (PPI) and Researcher Attraction Index (RAI), based on the degree of common authors among journals. Both indicators revealed notable changes in author coupling, including reversal of PPIs in some journals, which can be interpreted as proof of changes in their author groups. The RAI analysis, which measured the degree of journals' attractiveness to Korean LIS researchers and author sharing between two journals, illustrated the journals' states in a domain; this result can help find both an isolated journal and strongly bonded journals in the specific domain. Journal coupling with common authors introduced in this study proved to be an effective investigative method for illustrating journals' states in a specified domain as well as a multidisciplinary area.

본 연구는 학술커뮤니케이션에서 활용되는 온라인 전자출판물의 이용과 인용도에 대한 상관관계 분석과 유용성의 차이를 평가하고자 하는 연구목적을 수행하기 위해 학술지에 게재된 게재기사에 온라인 전자출판물을 인용한 저자들을 대상으로 이용도와 인용도를 조사하였으며, 학술지에 게재된 게재기사에 인용된 온라인 전자 출판물의 사회과학분야와 자연과학분야 간 유용성에 대해 비교 분석하였다. 학술지에 게재된 게재기사에 온라인 전자출판물을 인용한 저자의 이용도와 학술지에 인용된 온라인 전자출판물의 수와 인용비율간의 상관관계는 저자들의 온라인 전자출판물 주당 이용시간과 이용종수가 증가하더라도 저자들이 학술지에 인용하는 온라인 전자출판물의 수와 인용비율은 증가하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 사회과학분야와 자연과학분야 간에 있어서 학술지에 인용되는 온라인 전자출판물의 유용성에는 차이가 없었다. 따라서 학술지의 게재기사에 온라인 전자출판물을 인용한 저자들이 온라인 전자출판물을 많이 이용하는 것과 온라인 전자출판물을 실제로 인용하는 것에는 상관관계가 없으며, 측정요소를 통하여 평가한 사회과학 분야와 자연과학분야에서 온라인 전자출판물의 유용성에는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

본 연구의 목적은 이학분야 국내학술지 중 DOI를 기반으로 하여 인용정보를 제공하고 있는 학술지를 대상으로 피인용정보를 분석하고 WoS, Scopus와 비교를 통해 유사점과 차이점을 찾는 것이다. DOI를 등록하고 있고 WoS, Scopus에 공통으로 등재되어있는 5종의 이학분야 학술지의 CrossRef 피인용정보를 분석한 결과 논문수가 많은 2개 학술지의 인용률이 높았으며 모두 낮은 자기인용률을 보이고 있다. 전체적으로 CrossRef의 고유논문은 논문수와 인용수가 가장 큰 학술지 1종만이 11%이고 나머지 4종의 학술지는 5% 미만으로 대부분 WoS, Scopus 논문에 포함되었다. DB별 비교를 위해 3년간(2008~2010) 발행된 논문의 피인용도를 확인한 결과 모든 학술지에서 WoS의 인용률이 가장 높았고 CrossRef의 경우 레코드 수는 많지만, 전문색인DB가 아니고 참고문헌 등록이 모두 이뤄지지 않아 인용률이 가장 낮았다. 하지만 CrossRef 고유논문비율이 11%인 학술지의 경우 Scopus 보다 인용률이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

Scholarly journal is the important media of the scholarly communication and the representative noncommercial works which aim the openness and the share of the scholarly information. Recently the concern about the open access movement of the scholarly journal is increasing in Korea. However, the copyright issues are becoming the big obstacle of the open access and the archiving of the scholarly journal paper. This study investigated the copyright dispute examples of the scholarly journal paper and analyzed the present conditions on the copyright possession of 906 scholarly journals registered in Korean Research Foundation. On the basis of the result, the paper proposed the concrete copyright plan for the open access and the archiving of the scholarly journal paper in Korea.

학제적 분야는 다양한 주제범주의 자료를 이용하는 특성이 존재하기 때문에 대학도서관이나 전문도서관에서는 학제적 분야에 대한 새로운 학술지 관리방안이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 SCIE 논문을 발표한 국내 연구자들의 인용패턴을 바탕으로 저널 인용분석과 학제성 분석을 실시하여 학제적 분야의 학술지 관리 방안을 도출하였다. 본 연구를 통해 인용률 기반의 학제성 분석이 기존의 인용빈도를 바탕으로 한 방법과 함께 학제적 분야의 학술지를 관리하는 데 있어 유용함을 확인하였다.

알트메트릭스 분석 개념이 국내에 도입된지 6-7년이 되었지만, 아직 대중적인 확산이 아쉬운 상황이다. 특히 소셜네트워크가 아닌 국내 학술정보에 대한 알트메트릭스 분석을 위한 콘텐츠 및 분석기반이 활성화되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 학술정보에 대한 알트메트릭스 연구동향을 살펴보고, 국내 학술지에 대한 활성화 방안을 제시하였다.
