Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effect of Activities Daily Living(ADL)(physical health), depression(mental health), social participation(social health) on suicidal ideation among community dwelling elderly. Methods: Samples were obtained from 184 people aged over 65 years old in one county of Kyungsangbukdo. The survey samples were divided into the presence and absence group of the suicidal ideation. Data were analyzed with x² test, t-test and logistic regression analysis. Results: First, suicidal ideation were significantly different by religion. Secondly, after adjusting for socio-economic variables, logistic regression analysis showed that only depression was associated with higher odds of suicidal ideation Conclusions: It was suggested to develop customized depression and suicide prevention program were required to reduce suicide rate of the elderly.

The purpose of this study is to survey the reference information service participation to school library human resources, to compare the independent variables with reference information service participation, and to discern what the important impacts on the differences of reference information service participation are. The 254 questionaries used were collected from December 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 to the 327 school library employees. In this study, it is proved that there are differences between the Reference Information Service Participation of school library human resources and independent variables: gender, the level of school library, length of service, employment style. Tips for the reference information service participation of school library human resources were provided based on inadequacies and other findings revealed through this study.

The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of 12-week physical activity intervention on obesity and metabolic syndrome risk factors and smartphone game time in children. A total of 27 children(fifth grade elementary school students) participated in this study. The subjects were divided to exercise group(n=16) and control group(n=11), and participants in exercise group performed running and jump rope(60min/day; 3days/week; 50~70% of THR) during 12-week. We analyzed measurement data using two-way ANOVA. As results, obesity indices except body weight and metabolic syndrome risk factor decreased significantly in exercise group compare with control group. And VO2max increased and smartphone game time decreased significantly in exercise group compare with control group. In conclusion, we suggest that 12-week exercise intervention in children has positive effects on obesity and metabolic syndrome and improve negative lifestyle such as smartphone game.

The objective of this study was to examine the association between participation in volunteer activities and self-esteem among adolescents. This study used data from the wave3-5(2005-2007) of Korean Youth Panel Study(KYPS). This study analyzed data of 3,449 second grade middle school students cohort. Fixed effects model using Proc GLM procedure in SAS was adopted to examine association between participation in volunteer activities and self-esteem among study participants. The results show that life satisfaction, appearance stress, relationship with parents, relationship with siblings, grades, relationship with teachers, and relationship with friends were significantly associated with self-esteem. Volunteer activities participation was associated with increased level of self-esteem.

In this paper, we analyze the course 'computer' on middle and high schools. and propose new organization of the course to enhance the ability of self-directed learning. We also develop a learning system for new organization, based on self-directed teaching and learning principles. The developed learning system makes students choose the topics according to their interest and advance learning by the schedule they set by themselves. To promote students' participation, the teacher also gives students various learning tasks. Through e-board and Q&A, we also accelerate mutual communication among teachers and students, to do teaching-learning activities vigorously.

Speaking skill is an important quality in expressing oneself in school life. Quite a few students experience difficulties at school because of the lack of adequate speaking ability. In order to help them, a Web-based speaking enhancement system is designed and developed using computers equipped with multimedia devices with which students can practice speaking while they are observing graphical representation of voices, which is to cause interest and voluntary participation in the learning activity. The learning system was tested on a group of 44 students of 4th grade in an elementary school. The students were divided into three smaller groups in terms of speaking ability. The experiment shows the effectiveness of the system in building speaking ability.

In this paper, we study the effects on mathematical communication and disposition for the writing mathematics letters in secondary mathematics education. For this purpose we construct a experimental class and then analyse the students' change in those aspects after applying writing mathematics letters made some significant changes on the students communication in mathematics and disposition. First. the results for this purpose on regarding the enhancement of mathematical communication are effective. Second, the results on regarding the improvement of disposition are effective.

This paper is to propose a design possibility that incorporates participatory process and also to emphasize the participatory process applied to the planning of outdoor playground space open to the neighboring community. Community design based on the participation method can be understood as an attitude about a force for change in the creation and management of environments for people who are the major users of them. Planning for outdoor space is an integral part of school education and a vital component of child development. For the design of outdoor space of Samyang Elementary School it first needs to examine the current and emerging needs of students, teachers and parents as community residents through the participatory design method. A series of workshops and interviews are taken to identify dreams and ideal spaces of each group. An assessment of existing school spaces and design possibility of reprogrammed outdoor spaces are proposed to match the major demands of participants. Selected outdoor places are chosen and designed to accommodate options for various play settings and to make the school pleasant places where members of the neighborhood can gather for relaxation in restful surroundings.

This study examined the effect of coaching based on private tutoring on students' learning ability and academic achievement in university mathematics education. Those in the coaching group showed statistical significance in academic achievement compared to those in the non-coaching group. In addition, the coaching was found to be more effective for those with poor academic performance or women than those with excellent academic performance or men respectively. Due to limitations on survey time and number of respondents, it is difficult to draw a general conclusion about the effect of coaching in university mathematics education. Still, it is significant that the study applies coaching as a method to teach students university mathematics for the first time and the results are in consistent with those of previous studies on other subjects.

School is where students spend a lot of time. However, it is made up spaces which have got no consideration for students. Public buildings, such as schools, were designed by experts, not by users, while the opinions of users were reflected in a small part. As a result, school has become an uncomfortable place for students. User participation design has been proposed as a way to improve it. Recently, in designing schools, user participation design called "School Space Innovation Project" has been carried out actively and many kinds of guidelines have been suggested in project. But because it is unsystematic, In fact, it is hard to apply on site. Comparing and analyzing various User Participation Processes to figure out the similarities and differences is the purpose of this research and we want to suggest the result as a data that can be used as guidelines for project related to User Participation Design.
