Objectives : This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of an internet-based anger management program for school-aged children. Methods : Forty-eight elementary school students took part in an anger management training program; subsequently, participants, their parents, and their teachers answered questionnaires assessing the participants' anger, aggressiveness, and other emotional/behavioral problems, pre- and post-training. Results : At the post-training self-assessment, the participants showed significant reductions in their "anger-out" tendencies and physical aggressiveness. In addition, the effects of the program on "anger-out" tendencies, aggressiveness, anger and peer relational problem were found to be more significant in participants who reported depressive symptoms. Teachers rated the participants' peer-relational problems as having decreased after the training. Conclusion : The proposed internet-based anger management program had a significant effect on the school-aged children's abilities to control their anger.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the preliminary effects of school-based short term mental health awareness and school bullying prevention programs. Methods : From April to December 2013, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Promotion team of Seoul National Hospital conducted school-based short term social skill training (N=56, 4 sessions), mental health awareness (N=84, 4 sessions) and school bullying prevention programs (N=171, 1 session) in elementary and junior high schools located in Seoul. The changes in the subjects before and after the program were assessed. Results : The social skills training program improved the 'helping' behaviors in boys (t=-2.355, p<.05) and 'sharing' (t=-3.223, p<.01), 'cooperation' (t=-2.235, p<.05), and 'comforting' (t=-2.830, p<.01) behaviors in girls, assessed using the Prosocial Behavior Questionnaire. The mental health awareness program improved 'general health awareness' (t=2.620, p<.05), measured using the Korean General Health Questionnaire. The school bullying prevention program resulted in decreased 'self esteem' (t=3.769, p<.01), measured using the Self Esteem Scale and decreased 'anger' (t=4.198, p<.01), assessed using the Novaco Anger Scale. Conclusion : The results of our preliminary analysis suggest that school-based mental health awareness and school bullying prevention programs may be effective even when conducted for a short term. Future investigation is necessary in order to validate the long term effects of these programs.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the mediating effect of female university students' perception of dating violence on the dating violence victims behavior. A questionnaire was distributed and collected to a total of 161 female students enrolled in four departments of U University. Frequency and percentage, correlation analysis, simple regression analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were performed, and the Sobel test was performed to verify the significance of the indirect effects. Findings First, it was found that female university students' perception of dating violence had a negative effect on the behavior of victims of dating violence, and the explanation power was 5%. Second, violence tolerance was found to have a positive effect on the behavior of all dating violence victims, and the explanatory power was 12%. Third, in the first stage, female university students' perception of dating violence significantly explained the tolerance of violence. In step 2, perception of dating violence significantly explained the behavior of dating violence victims, and in step 3, the tolerance of violence explained the behavior of victims of dating violence. When violence tolerance was introduced in step 4, the influence of dating violence perception on the victimization behavior of dating violence decreased, but it was not significant. That is, violence tolerance showed a partial mediating effect in the effect of dating violence perception on dating violence victim behavior. It is necessary to develop and implement practical programs that can raise perception of violence and lower the tolerance for violence to prevent victims of dating violence.
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of functional and dysfunctional expressions of anger on the relationship between covert narcissism and dating violence among college students. The study also investigated gender differences with regard to covert narcissism, dating violence, and functional and dysfunctional expressions of anger. To this end, 339 college students (133 males, 206 females) with heterosexual dating experiences in the Busan Metropolitan area were recruited. They responded to the Covert Narcissism Scale, the Revised Conflict Tactics Scale 2, and the Korean adaptation of the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory. The results were as follows. First, covert narcissism, dating violence, and functional and dysfunctional expressions of anger differed significantly by gender. Second, there were statistically significant correlations between covert narcissism, dating violence, and functional and dysfunctional expressions of anger. Third, multiple regression analysis showed that dysfunctional expressions of anger for males were positively correlated with dating violence while functional expressions of anger were negatively correlated. For females, dysfunctional expressions of anger were positively correlated with dating violence while functional expressions of anger were not significantly correlated. Fourth, dysfunctional expressions of anger completely mediated the relationship between covert narcissism and dating violence for both males and females, but functional expressions of anger had no mediating effect. These results suggest that dysfunctional anger expression control program should be developed for students which may help those with covert narcissistic tendencies to functionally express their anger. Future research should analyze dating violence prevention and counseling programs.

When observing the subjects and seriousness of Korea's Wang-ta, it is urgent that we know the characteristics of Wang-ta and its conditions. In this study, we investigated the definition of Wang-ta, which partly differs from bullying. Also, the phenomenal characteristics of collectivism, the victimization of an individual once stigmatized in the Wang-ta process, the generalization of the Wang-ta process where bullies extend their territory into general students were examined. Moreover, external environment such as Korea's school environment, negative house environment, and collective culture were examined. The three general structures in researching Korea's Wang-ta were presented. The first structure consists of a bully, victim, and a bully-victim. The second structure focuses on the certain groups, which consists of followers, outsider, and the defender. The last structure deals with the psychological characteristics of the participant roles, which are the bully, reinforcer, assistant, defender, victim, and outsider. Wang-ta prevention programs, which reflects the characteristics of Wang-ta, are presented. Implications on future Wang-ta prevention programs are discussed.
This study aims to investigate the effect of violence experience and self-esteem experienced in social scenes such as work and school on suicidal thoughts. For this purpose, I used the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family(2017)'s data of the current situation of social violence victims. To this end, descriptive statistics, correlation, and hierarchical binary logistic regression analysis were performed. The findings of this study are as follows: The experience of social violence among North Korean refugee women had a positive effect on suicidal thoughts, and self-esteem had a negative effect on suicide-related features. This means that if you have experienced social violence, you are more likely to have suicidal thinking, and the higher your self-esteem is, the less likely your suicidal thinking is. Based upon the results of this study, practical intervention measures were proposed to prevent social violence, and to improve physical/mental health and self-esteem of North Korean refugee women.
