Early loading on a maxillary posterior single implant with deepened threads: a case report (깊은 나사선을 갖는 임플란트를 이용한 상악 구치부 조기 하중: 증례보고)

  • This case report shows an early loading at the maxillary posterior area with the wide diameter implant which has a deepened threads after removal of failed implant. Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ) value has represented favorable result for one year. This clinical report describes the potential of early loading on a maxillary posterior single implant with deepened threads.

  • The present study is concerned with the arc-length method in the investigation of the large deflection behavior of spatial structures with composite materials. This study should be able to trace the main equilibrium path by automatically varying the arc-length size of individual solution steps with the variation of the curvature of the nonlinear equilibrium path. A quasi-elastic method is used for the solution for viscoelastic analysis of the reticulated spatial structures. Elastic modulus of composite materials is defined by micro mechanical materials modeling method and nonlinear equilibrium path is traced with various load types. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the present strategies, numerical examples of reticulated spatial truss is given and compared with solutions using other methods.

Assessment of Equivalent Heights of Soil for the Lateral Earth Pressure Against Retaining Walls Due to Design Truck Load (표준트럭하중에 의해 옹벽에 작용하는 수평토압의 등가높이 산정)

  • Limit state design has been implemented in Korea since 2015; however, there exists no specification of lateral load determination on retaining wall due to the Korean standard traffic load on retaining wall's backfill surface. The lateral load from traffic depends on lane number, standard truck's axle loads and locations, loading distance from the inner wall. The concept of equivalent height of soil accounting for traffic loadings is typically used for design of retaining walls to quantify the traffic loads transmitted to the inner wall faces. Due to the different characteristics of the standard design trucks between Korea and US (AASHTO), the direct use of the guidelines from AASHTO LRFD leads to incorrect estimation of traffic load effects on retaining walls. This paper presents the results of evaluation of equivalent height of soil to reflect the Korean standard truck, based on the findings from analytical solutions using Bounessq's theory and numerical assessment using 2D finite element method. Consequently, it was found that the equivalent heights of soil from the Korean standard truck load were lower for lower retaining wall height.

  • Numerical methods are developed to obtain the critical loads and to analyze the post-buckling behaviour of the linearly varying tapered columns. The non-dimensional differential equations governing the elastica of post buckled column are derived by third order and solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta method and Regula-Falsi method. Three kinds of cross-sectional shape with simply supported end constraint are applied in unmerical examples. As the numerical results, the equlibrium paths. the typical elastica of post buckled columns and the critical load vs. section ratio curves are presented in figures. Also, the effects of cross-sectional shape factor on critical loads and postbuckling behaviour are presented in tables.

  • Most analyses and researches on Micro Aerial Vehicle(MAV) have focused upon propulsion, automatic control, aerodynamic configuration in low Reynolds number region, and miniaturization of telemetric parts. In the present study, a structural concept for MAV is designed by using the composite material suitable for light flight structures. In order to study the load path and stress state of the MAV, the load and structural analyses are simultaneously performed by the aeroelasticity module of MSC/NASTRAN. The stability derivatives of the MAV are obtained for three symmetric, two antisymmetric, and four unsymmetric maneuvering conditions. Although the aerodynamic theory in MSC/NASTRAN could not be proper for MAV analysis, it provides an traditional and effective tool for trim and load analyses and may be corrected with the results by more accurate theory or test. The results show that the inertial load due to payloads has a more effect on stress rather than the aerodynamic load.

  • Mechanical properties(flexural strength hardness fracture toughness) of alumina ceramics were evaluated. Alumina products of four companies were selected and three of those were made in Korea and one of those was made in Japan. The large differences according to manufacturing companies had resulted from flexural strength and weibull modulus which had a wide ranges of 300 to 400 MPa and 5 to 15 respectively. Critical indenstation load which could be neglected the effect of elastic recovery was about 9.8N and Vickers' hardness were about 15 GPa. Fracture toughnesses were evaluated by IF and ISB method. It was more preferable to the average at one indentation load that fracture toughness were obtained from the slope of the relationship between indentation load and crack length in IF method and between indentation load and fracture load in ISB method and fracture toughness was about 4 MPa·m1/2.

Static, Dynamic and Buckling Analyses of a Power Transmission Tower under Wind Load (풍하중을 받는 송전철탑의 정적, 동적 및 좌굴해석)

  • This paper describes dynamic characteristics of a power transmission tower consisting of lots of power lines and insulators. A numerical 3D modeling for the static, dynamic and buckling analyses of the power transmission tower is presented considering the case when the power lines are cut. Eigenvalue analysis indicates that the transmission tower shows different behavior comparing to usual structures governed by several low modes. The transmission tower is governed by lots of modes. It is verified that the transmission tower is structurally safe against the static wind and buckling loads. But the structural and buckling safety is not guaranteed when all power lines are cut, which comes to collapse the transmission tower. Further study is in need to overcome such case. Wind dynamic analysis shows that fluctuating wind loads increase the response of the tower.

  • The lateral load from traffic depends on standard truck's axle loads and locations, loading distance from the inner wall. The method of limit state design has been adopted and used for design of roads in the Republic of Korea since 2015. The concept of equivalent height of soil accounting for traffic loading is often used for design of retaining walls to quantify the traffic loads transmitted to the inner wall faces. Due to the different characteristics of the standard design trucks between Korea and US (AASHTO), the direct use of the guidelines from AASHTO LRFD leads to incorrect estimation of traffic load effects on retaining walls. This paper presents the results of evaluation of equivalent height of soil to reflect the standard truck of the nation, based on the findings from analytical solutions using 3D finite element method. Compare to US, the standard truck loading has a structure where the axle load is concentrated so that the equivalent load height is estimated to be slightly larger than AASHTO for lower retaining wall height. It would be reasonable to present the equivalent load height in Korea more conservatively than AASHTO in terms of securing long term stability of the retaining wall structure.

  • 본 연구에서는 유한요소 해석 방법을 이용하여 경추 유한요소 모델을 개발하고, 척추 인공디스크 수술 후 경추 분절의 생체역학적 특성을 평가하였다. 반구속 및 비구속 개념의 인공디스크가 삽입된 경추 유한요소 모델의 제 7 경추체를 완전히 고정시키고 추적 경로 방향의 50 N의 압축력을 가한 상태에서 1 Nm의 굴곡과 신전, 측면 굴곡, 비틀림 모멘트를 가하였다. 모든 방향의 하중 조건에서 인공디스크가 삽입된 경추 모델들의 회전량이 정상 경추 모델의 회전량에 비하여 크게 나타났다. 또한 인공디스크를 삽입한 운동 분절에서 정상에 비하여 후관절의 접촉력과 여섯 가지 주요 인대에 걸리는 응력이 높게 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 척추 인공디스크 수술 시 수술 방법의 선택뿐만 아니라 새로운 경추 수술용 임플란트 개발을 위한 인체정보 콘텐츠를 구축하는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
