Large Deflection and Elastoplastic Analysis of the Plane Framed Structure Using Isoparametric Curved Beam Element (Isoparametric 곡선(曲線) 보요소(要素)를 이용한 평면(平面)뼈대 구조물(構造物)의 대변형(大變形) 및 탄소성(彈塑性) 유한요소해석(有限要素解析))

  • This paper presents a geometrically non-linear and elastoplastic F.E. formulation using a total Lagrangian approach for the two dimensional isoparametric curved beam elements. The beam element is derived by using plane stress elements. The basic element geometry is constructed using the coordinates of the nodes on the element center line and the nodal point normals. The element displacement field is described using two translations of the node on the center line and a rotation about the axes normal to the plane containing the center line of the element. The layered approach is used for the elastoplastic analysis of the plane framed structure with the arbitrary cross section. The iterative load or displacement incremental method for non-linear finite element analysis of the frame structure is used. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the behavior and the accuracy of the proposed beam element for geometric and elastoplastic non-linear applications. Comparisons made with present theory and other published data show that tilt' beam element products accurate results with good convergence characteristics.

  • The high precision analysis by the p-version of the finite element method are fairly well established as highly efficient method for linear elastic problems, especially in the presence of stress singularity. It has been noted that the merits of the p-version are accuracy, modeling simplicity, robustness, and savings in user's and CPU time. However, little has been done to exploit their benefits in elasto-plastic analysis. In this paper, the p-version finite element model is proposed for the materially nonlinear analysis that is based on the incremental theory of plasticity using the constitutive equation for work-hardening materials, and the associated flow rule. To obtain the solution of nonlinear equation, the Newton-Raphson method and initial stiffness method, etc are used. Several numerical examples are tested with the help of the square plates with cutout, the thick-walled cylinder under internal pressure, and the circular plate with uniformly distributed load.   • The High-tensile steel has been recognized as a promising concept for structural design of light weight transportation systems such as aircraft high speed trains and fast ships. Using the high-tensile steel has been widely used in ship structures, and this enables to reduce the plate thickness. Using the high-tensile steel effectively for a ship hull, the plate thickness becomes thin so that plate buckling may take place. Therefore, precise assessment of the behavior of plate above primary buckling load is important. In this study, examined closely secondary buckling behavior after initial buckling of thin plate structure which operated compressive load according to the various kinds of yield stress with simply supported boundary condition. Analysis method is F.E.M by commercial program(ANSYS V7.1) and complicated nonlinear behaviour can analyze using art-length method about secondary buckling.

  • An approximate method of normal coordinate idealization for use in nonlinear R /C frames has been developed. Normal coordinate apporaches have been used for nonlinear problems in the past, but they are not recerved wide acceptance because of the need for eigenvector computation in each time step. The proposed method circumvents the eigenvector recalculation problem by evaluating a limited number of sets of mode shapes in performing the dynamic analysis. Then some of the predetermined sets of eigenvectors are used in the nonlinear dynamic repeatedly. The method is applied to frame structures with ductile R /C elements. The plastic hinge zones are modeled with hysteres~s loops which evince degrading stiffness and pinching effects. Effxiencies and accuracies of the method for this application are presented.

  • Even todays, accurate and efficient algorithms for the large deformation analysis of elastoplastic frame structures lack due to the complexities of kinematics, material nonlinearities and numerical methods to cater for. The author suggests appropriate beam element based upon the incremental formulation from the 3D rod theory where Cauchy stress and engineering strain are variables to incorporate plasticity equations so that objectivity may be satisfied. A rectum mapping methods which can integrate and satisfy yield criteria efficiently is suggested and a continuation method which has global convergency and quadratic speed is developed as well. leading-unloading example problems are tested and the ideas are proved to be valuable.

ECONOMICAL NONLINEAR RESPONSE ANALYSIS USING STIFFNESS MEASURE APPROACH (강성측정법을 이용한 경제적인 비선형해석)

  • A method used for measuring the stiffness of hinging reinforced concrete frame structures is developed. The so called Stiffness Measure Method is used to evaluate the tangent stiffness of hinge regions while the structure is responding in nonlinear ranges. Eigenvector methods for nonlinear response have not been especially popular because of the need for regenerating eigenvectors as the time history proceeds. In the present work the eigenvectors sets and corresponding nonlinear state variables, i. e., the tangent stiffnesses of the hinge regions, are stored. There is an expectation that previously generated eigenvectors can be reused as the analysis proceeds. The stiffness measure is used to compare the current tangent stiffnesses of hinge regions with those of previously stored eigenvectors sets. Since eigenvector calculations are diminished the method is effective in reducing computational effort for reinforced concrete frame structures subjected to strong ground motions.

  • 구조물 하중에 의한 점성토 지반의 침하량을 보다 정확하게 평가하기 위해서는 지반 내의 흙요소가 경험하는 실제적인 응력경로와 이에 따른 변형양상이 적절하게 고려되어야만 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 축대칭 조건의 다양한 응력경로를 따라 발생하는 정규압밀 점성토의 변형 거동을 고찰한 기존의 실험적 연구결과를 바탕으로 응력경로법에 근거한 보다 간편하고 합리적인 침하량 평가기법을 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 제시된 평가기법을 기존의 1차원적인 침하량 평가기법들과 함께 실제와 유사한 조건을 가지는 가상지반의 침하량 산정에 적용해 보았으며, 동일한 조건에 대해 소성모델(MCC 모델)과 혼합압밀이론에 바탕을 둔 유한요소해석을 실시하였다. 그리고 이를 통해 얻어진 결과들을 비교.분석함으로써 기존 평가기법들의 문제점과 한계를 명확히 제시하였으며, 응력증분 평가방법이 침하량 평가에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

  • The impact of the system reliability analysis to structural design is described in this paper and various methods for system reliability analysis developed up to the present are reviewed and discussed from the view point of their efficiency. The paper also includes the detailed formulation procedure of the, so called, extended incremental load method has applied to relatively simple structure to show its usefulness.

Structural reliability analysis of offshore structure at cold region (저온해역에서의 해양구조물에 대한 구조신뢰성 해석)

  • In this study an adequate type of offshore structure at the Sakhalin region as cold region is proposed and its structural design results are presented based on the reliability analysis. Structural safety assessment has been carried out for the proposed offshore structure at the Sakhalin area as designed by the reliability method. And a rational design procedure is presented based on the reliability analysis. Followings are drawn through the present study : - Four colum TLP structure is proposed as an adequate offshore structure type at the cold region like the Sakhalin region and the reliability-based structural design results are presented. It is seen that the proposed type is a more adequate and economic than the fixed type. - Safety assessment of the proposed structure applying the extended incremental load method is performed. - Referring the allowable safety level for offshore structures it has been found present TLP structure has sufficient structural safety at the system level as well as at the component level.

Effect of Reverse Cyclic Loading on the Fracture Resistance Curve of Nuclear Piping Material (역사이클하중이 원자력 배관재료의 파괴저항곡선에 미치는 영향)

  • Fracture resistance(J-R) curves, which are used for the elastic-plastic fracture mechanics analyses, are known to be dependent on the cyclic loading history. The objective of this paper is to study the effect of reverse cyclic loading on J-R curves in CT specimens. The effect of two parameters was observed on the J-R curves during the reverse cyclic loading. One was the minimum-to-maximum load ratio(R) and the other was the incremental plastic displacement(${\delta}_{cycle}/{\delta}_i$), which is related to the amount of crack growth that occurs in a cycle. Fracture resistance test on CT specimens with varying load ratio and incremental plastic displacement were performed. For the SA 516 Gr. 70 steel, the results showed that the J-R curves were decreased with decreasing the load ratio and the incremental plastic displacement. When the load ratio was set to -1, the results of the J-R curves and the $J_i$ value were about $40{\sim}50$ percent of those for the monotonic loading condition. Also on condition that the incremental plastic displacement reached 1/40, the J-R curves and the $J_i$ value were about $50{\sim}60$ percent of those for the incremental plastic displacement of 1/10.
