Reliability Analysis of Composite Girder Designed by LRFD Method for Positive Flexure (하중저항계수설계법(LRFD)으로 설계된 강합성 거더의 휨에 대한 신뢰도해석)

  • The reliability analysis of simply-supported composite plate girder and box girder bridges under positive flexure is performed. The bridges are designed based on the AASHTO-LRFD specification. A performance function for flexural failure is expressed as a function of such random variables as flexural resistance of composite section and design moments due to permanent load and live load. For the flexural resistance, the statistical parameters obtained by analyzing over 16,000 samples of domestic structural steel products are used. Several different values of statistical parameters with the bias factor in the range of 0.95-1.05 and the coefficient of variation in the range of 0.15-0.25 are used for the live-load moment. Due to the lack of available domestic measured data on the dead load moment, the same values of statistical properties used in the calibration of AASHTO-LRFD are applied. The reliability indices for the composite plate girder and box girder bridges with various span lengths are calculated by applying the Rackwitz-Fiessler technique.

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 동적 해석 프로그램인 AUTODYN을 이용해 기둥의 단면 형상의 변화에 따른 폭발 하중의 영향을 분석하였다. 먼저 폭발하중 산정의 타당성을 확인하기 위해 AUTODYN을 이용한 예제해석을 수행하였으며, 폭발하중에 의한 영향을 가장 효율적으로 확인할 수 있는 인자인 압력을 비교하였다. 이를 토대로 기둥 형상에 따른 폭발 저항 성능을 평가하기 위해 같은 단면적과 높이를 갖는 정사각형과 원형 기둥을 모델링 한 후 TNT의 양에 따른 폭발전후의 부피를 비교하였다. 해석결과를 비교해보면 정사각형기둥이 원형기둥보다 폭발에 대한 손상정도는 더 크지만 기둥이 절단되지 않도록 하는 저항성능이 더 우수한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 비록 철근의 영향을 고려하지 않았지만, 이와 같은 결과를 통해 TNT의 양에 따른 기본적인 폭발거동과 대테러 설계를 위한 기둥 단면 선택시 기초적인 자료로 활용가능 할 것으로 사료된다.

  • 최근 우리나라에도 많은 지진사례가 보고되고 있으며, 이러한 지진하중은 원전설비 및 각종 기계설비등의 가동중 파손을 유발시킬 수 있는 잠재적 위험성이 높다. 이에 지진하중에 대한 안전성 확보의 필요성이 점차 대두되고 있다. 지진하중은 종ㆍ횡파에 의한 인장ㆍ압축이 반복되는 역사이클하중(reverse cyclic loading)형태로, 현재까지는 이를 고려한 설계개념이 미흡한 실정이며 이에 대한 파괴물성치의 확보는 물론 파괴물성치 평가 절차도 확립되어 있지 않은 상태이다. 따라서 지진하중에 대한 안전성확보를 위해서는, 역사이클 하중이 재료의 파괴특성 특히, 파괴저항(J-R)곡선에 미치는 영향이 고찰되어야 할 것이다.   • The reliability analysis of simply-supported and continuous composite plate girder and box girder bridges under flexure was performed to provide a basic data for the development of LRFD c ode. The bridges were designed based on LRFD specification with newly proposed design live load which was developed by analyzing traffic statistics from highways and local roads. A performance function for flexural failure was expressed as a function of the flexural resistance of composite section and the design moments due to permanent load and live load. For the flexural resistance, the statistical parameters obtained by analyzing over 16,000 domestic structural steel samples were used. Several different values of bias factors for the live load moment from 1.0 to 1.2 were used. Due to the lack of available domestic measured data on the moment by permanent loads, the same statistical properties used in the calibration of ASHTO-LRFD were ap plied. The reliability indices for the composite girder bridges with various span lengths, different live load factors, and bias fact or for the live load were obtained by applying the Rackwitz-Fiessler technique.

  • 본 시험의 목적은 수직주 및 $80^{\circ}$경사주에 대한 강도시험을 통하여 보통지선이 없는 수평지선주의 시설가능 범위를 파악하고, 전선장력에 대한 지선장력과 전주저항모멘트간의 상관관계를 실증시험을 통하여 지선 강도계산시 전주저항모멘트 적용의 타당성 여부를 조사하는 것이다. 시험결과 $2^{\circ}$이상 휘어진 전주는 지선 보강이 필요하며, 설계시 하중 작용점에 따른 전주저항모멘트는 일정한 값을 적용하여도 됨을 확인하였다. 그리고 지선강도계산식에서 전주의 저항모멘트를 고려하지 않는 것이, Y지선보다는 각 하중 작용점에 해당 불평균장력에 견디는 1조 지선을 시설하는 것이 바람직하다. 또한 보통지선이 없는 수평지선주는 지선에 작용하는 하중, 전주의 설계하중, 전주길이 및 지선의 설치위치를 고려하여 선정하여야 하여야 함을 도출하였다.

Case Studies for Anlayzing Effects of Outriggers on Gravity Load Managements (아웃리거의 중력하중 조절 효과 분석을 위한 사례연구)

  • In high-rise buildings, an outrigger system is frequently used as a resisting system for lateral loads. Since the outriggers tie exterior columns and an interior core, exterior columns can participate in the lateral load resisting system and the structural resistance capacity can be increased. However, the outriggers contribute for controlling gravity loads as well as lateral loads. The flows of gravity loads can be changed by the members of outriggers, for the purposes of transferring loads to mega-columns, distributing gravity loads equally among vertical members of columns, walls, or piles, minimizing differential settlements in a foundation system, and so on. In this study, by computational structural analyses of high-rise buildings over 100 floors, the effects of outriggers on controlling gravity loads are analyzed. Analyses for 3-dimensional models with or without outrigger members are performed, and then the gravity load distributions in columns and piles and foundation settlements are analyzed. Also, the effects of outriggers on gravity load controls during construction stages as well as after construction are included.

  • The objective of the presented study is to develop an efficient procedure of proof load testing for existing bridges. By analytical methods, some of these bridges are not adequate to carry normal highway traffic. However, the actual load carrying capacity is often much higher than what can be determined by conventional analysis. Proof load testing can reveal the hidden strength reserve and thus verify the adequacy of the tested bridge. Proof load level required for meaningful tests should be sufficiently higher than legal load. In the state of Michigan, the legal 11-axle truck can weigh up to 685 kN. In this study, a combination of two military tanks and two Michigan 11-axle trucks was used. The proof loads were gradually increased to ensure the safety of the test. After each move, measurements were taken. For the considered bridge, stress levels were rather low compared to pre-test analysis results. This is due to incorrect material strength, structural contribution of nonstructural components such as parapets and railings, and partially fixed supports.

Evaluation of Reliability Index of Governing Load Combination for Design of Cable Supported Bridge Members (케이블교량의 부재 설계를 지배하는 하중조합에 대한 신뢰도지수 평가)

  • In this paper the reliability analyses of the cable-supported bridge design code which is recently issued in Korea are performed and the results are presented. Governing load combinations for the member design and the statistical properties of the main members are introduced and the analysis is performed using an example cable-stayed bridge for which the design is performed following the load and resistance factors defined in the design code. The reliability analysis shows the target reliability index can be achieved by applying load and resistance factors and the application of the resistance modification factor can enhance the reliability level if the importance of the bridge needs to be increased. The sensitivity analysis reveals that decreasing uncertainty of the cable strength is critical for obtaining the target reliability index. The study results show that the design using the load and resistance factors of the code can achieve the target reliability indexes for the design of cable supported bridge.

  • Multi-axial compression tests have been frequently adopted for the evaluation of material properties of rock cores and rock fracture model tests. Special care has to be applied on the boundary condition between the specimen and loading platen to draw the precise test results of the multi-axial compression tests. With the use of dry steel platen, the stress rotation will occur, due to the frictional restraint from the boundary between the specimen and loading platen. The restraint will deviate the expected test results under the conditions of the given external pressures. Various methods have been applied to reduce the side restraint along the specimen/loading platen interface. The steel brush type loading platen is one example of the attempts. In this paper, a new type of loading platen is introduced to overcome the limitation caused by the use of the brush type loading platen, which requires some internal space for the installation of the brushes. The new type of loading platen, roller supported steel piston type loading platen. is constituted of shot steel pistons which have sufficient stiffness to deliver the external pressure and the shaft type roller installed at the rear of the pistons. The pistons are designed to follow the local deformation of the specimens. In this paper, structural details of the loading platen are presented and frictional and biaxial compression tests results are shown to verify the required functions of the loading platen. Furthermore, calibration process is followed by a comparison between the test results and numerical analyses.

Evaluation of Shape Parameter Effect on the J-R Curve of Curved CT Specimen Using Limit Load Method (한계하중법을 이용한 Curved CT 시험편의 파괴저항곡선에 미치는 형상변수 영향 평가)

  • In this study, the effect of shape parameters on the J-R curves of curved CT specimens was evaluated using the limit load method. Fracture toughness tests considering the shape factors L/W and $R_m/t$ of the specimens were also performed. Thereafter, the J-R curves of the curved CT specimens were compared using the J-integral equation proposed in the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and limit load solution. The J-R curves of the curved CT specimens were also compared with those of the CWP (curved wide plate), which is regarded to be similar to real pipe and standard specimens. Finally, the effectiveness of the J-R curve of each curved CT specimen was evaluated. The results of this study can be used for assessing the applicability of curved CT specimens in the accurate evaluation of the fracture toughness of real pipes.
