  • This paper deals with the design considerations of electro-magnet (EM)-permanent magnet (PM) hybrid levitation and propulsion device for magnetically levitated (maglev) vehicles. Several design considerations such as machine structure, manufacturing, and control strategy are described. In order to verify the design scheme and feasibility of control strategy, dynamic test set is implemented and tested.

  • 자동차 업계는 전장화 가속화와 강화된 환경규제에 대응하기 위해 자동차의 12[V] 전기시스템과 더불어 48[V] 전기 시스템에 대한 도입을 추진하고 있다. 듀얼 전기시스템을 사용할 경우 소모 전력이 적은 부품에 대해서는 기존의 12[V] 시스템을 유지하고 전력 소모가 큰 전동식 조향장치, 브레이크, 공조 시스템은 48[V] 시스템을 사용함으로써 비용을 최소화하고 연비를 최대 15[%]까지 개선시킬 수 있는 특징을 갖고 있다. 이를 구현하기 위해서는 양방향 DC/DC 컨버터가 필수적이며 대성전기에서는 48V 마일드 하이브리드 시스템을 위한 4-phase 구조의 양방향 DC/DC 컨버터를 개발하였다.

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) research is recently actively underway. Especially, fuel cell battery hybrid systems are widely used to overcome the limitations of continuous operation. However, fuel cell systems must be operated in combination with a battery due to their low specific output characteristics. Therefore, a hybrid power system model for UAVs is developed. The rule-based strategy is applied to the model to properly distribute power to batteries and fuel cells. As a result, the designed rule-based power distribution control operates UAVs while maintaining battery state of charge(SOC) at an appropriate level.

A Study on Optimum Takeoff Time of the Hybrid Electric Powered Systems for a Middle Size UAV (중형무인기용 하이브리드 전기동력시스템의 최적 이륙시간에 관한 연구)

  • The target system is a middle size UAV, which is a low-speed long-endurance UAV with a weight of 18 kg and wingspan of 6.4 m. Three electric power sources, i.e. solar cells, a fuel cell, and a battery, are considered. The optimal takeoff time is determined to maximize the endurance because the generated solar cell's energy is heavily dependent on it. Each power source is modeled in Matlab/Simulink, and the component models are verified with the component test data. The component models are integrated into a power system which is used for power simulations. When takeoff time is at 6 pm and 2 am, it can supply the power during 37.5 hrs and 27.6 hrs, respectively. In addition, the thermostat control simulation for fuel cell demonstrates that it yields more power supply and efficient power distribution.

  • The hybrid rocket shows interesting characteristics of complicated mixing layer developed by the interaction between turbulent oxidizer flow and injected surface mass flow from fuel vaporization. In this study, the compressible LES was conducted to explore the physical phenomena of surface oscillatory flow induced by the flow interferences in a duct domain. From the numerical results, the wall injection generates the stronger streamwise vorticites and the negative components of axial velocity accompanied with the azimuthal vorticity near the surface. And the vortex shedding with a certain time scale was found to be developed by hydrodynamic instability in the mixing layer. The pressure fluctuations in this calculation exhibit a peculiar peak at a specific angular frequency($\omega$=8.8) representing intrinsic oscillation due to the injection.

  • For drones to be used for industrial or agricultural applications, it is necessary to increase the payload and endurance. Currently, the payload and endurance are limited by the battery technology for electric powered drones. In addition, charging or replacing the batteries may not be a practical solution at the field that requires near continuous operation. In this paper, a procedure to optimize the power system of an electric hybrid drone that consists of an internal combustion engine, a generator, a battery, and electric motors is presented. The example drone for crop dusting is sized for easy transportation with a maximum takeoff weight of 200 kg. The two main rotors that are mechanically connected to the internal combustion engine provides most of the lift. The drone is controled by four electric motors that are driven by the generator. By analyzing the flow of the energy, a methodology to select the optimum propeller and motor among the commercially available models is described. Then, a procedure of finding the optimum operational condition along with the proper gear reduction ratios for the internal combustion engine based on the test data is presented.

  • Multicopter-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are increasingly for cargo transportation to mountainous and island regions, image information acquisition in disaster areas, and emergency rescue transport. In order to successfully perform these tasks, the aircraft structure must be able to safely support the loads induced by flight conditions while ensuring the vibration and aeroelastic stability of the prop-rotor. This study introduced a structural analysis model of a 40kg payload multicopter with an engine-generator hybrid power system. The deformation and stress distribution are investigated depending on the load conditions. In addition, the vibration characteristics and aeroelastic stability of the prop-rotor were also presented to flight speed and aircraft pitch angle. The maximum thrust generated by the prop-rotor and the landing load applied to the multicopter under normal and emergency landing conditions were reviewed., It confirmed that the structure could support without failure. In addition, it confirmed that the damping characteristics of each primary locate in the constant region according to the aircraft's flight speed and the prop-rotors rotating speed.

  • A 100 W fuel cell system using chemical storage method has been applied for a propulsion system of the SUAV(Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). A fuel cell and battery have been combined for both the small/light hydrogen generation control system and the hybrid power supply system. A small hydrogen generation device was implemented to utilize NaBH4 aqueous solution and dead-end type PEMFC system, which were evaluated on the ground and by the flight tests. The system pressurized at a 45kpa stably operates and get higher fuel efficiency. The pressure inside of the hydrogen generation control system was maintained at between 45 kPa and 55 kPa. The 100W fuel cell system satisfies the required weight and power consumption rate as well as the propulsion system, and the fuel cell system performance was demonstrated through flight test.

  • The recent trend is that diesel power generation on islands where its prime cost for power generation is high is replaced by new and renewable energy. Therefore, south Jeolla province is progressing the construction project of self-sufficient islands for the areas where power is supplied by depending on diesel generators, which is the project that power is supplied through eco-friendly energy source using sunlight, wind power and energy storage device etc. However, it is difficult to construct new and renewable energy source with the capacity to respond to the load perfectly due to its environmental and geographical conditions regarding capacity design of new and renewable energy. Besides, Microgrid design considering appropriate capacity design of the system components and efficient operation is required through the analysis of climate conditions and load patterns from the design stage for optimal composition of a hybrid system with economic feasibility. Therefore, this study is aimed to conduct a research on optimal combination, capacity calculation and economic feasibility by comprising a hybrid power generation system which will replace 40% of power generation by diesel as new and renewable energy source for Geomun Island where has more than 300 households and requires expansion of the facility among islands located in southwest coast.

  • How are real libraries affected and what are they planning and working on in the current coronavirus era? Based on these questions, the purpose of this study was to analyze the Corona-related trends based on the 2020 implementation plan of the Library Development Comprehensive Plan and the 2021 implementation plan, and to analyze the impact and changes of the libraries in the city and the direction of corona response. The problems in the 2020 municipal libraries are largely attributed to the closure or curtailment of libraries due to the epidemic of coronavirus, budget cuts and budget limits due to coronavirus, declining users' interest and participation, infrastructure limits due to rapid service changes and operational limitations. Furthermore, the improvement measures and future plans could be divided into 1) development and provision of non-face-to-face programs; 2) development and provision of online-based services; 4) expansion of budget for response to demand; 5) provision of space against corona; and other response directions. In addition, in order to systematically cope with coronavirus in the future, it is expected that first, hybrid-type programs and services, second, infrastructure for online and non-face-to-face services, and third, budget utilization flexibility will be required.
