  • 이동 컴퓨터들은 다른 컴퓨터들과 통신하기 위하여 무선채널을 사용한다. 효율적인채널 할당은 이동 컴퓨터 시스템 설계의 핵심부분이다. 유한개의 채널들은 처리력을 최대로 하고 채널 간섭을 피하기 위하여 효율적으로 할당되어져야 한다. 채널 할당 알고리즘들은 크게 집중형 채널 할당 알로리즘과 분산형 채널 할당 알고리즘으로 나누어지며, 그것들은 상반관계에 있다. 본 논문에는 고정 채널 할당 정책에 기반한 분산 채널 할당 알고리즘에 집중형 채널 할당 알고리즘을 혼합한 하이브리드 채널 할당 알고리즘을 제안하고, 그것의 성능을 평가한다.

An Energy-Efficient Hybrid MAC Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 에너지 효율적인 하이브리드 MAC 프로토콜)

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크 환경에서 센서 노드의 에너지 소모를 줄이고 네트워크의 수명을 최대화하기 위해 Tiered-MAC을 제안한다. Tiered-MAC은 싱크노드와 센서노드 로 구성되는 계층적 센서 네트워크 구조에서 싱크노드의 최대 전송 영역은 스케줄 기반의 TDMA를 사용하고, 이외의 영역은 경쟁 기반의 CSMA를 사용함으로써 많은 데이터 트래픽이 집중하여 혼잡상황이 잦은 싱크노드 주변의 송수산을 관리하여 불필요한 에너지 소비를 줄이도록 설계되었다. 스케줄 기반으로 동작할 때 공간사용을 최대 화 하여 전송률을 높이고 전송지연을 줄이는 슬롯할당 기법을 제안하였다. 또한 ns-2 시뮬레이터를 이용 한 실험을 통하여 제안한 기법의 성능을 CSMA와 TDMA를 비교하였고, 실험 결과를 통해 제안하는 기법이 에너지 효율적으로 동작하는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The call admission control algorithm of hybrid scheme is proposed to enhance the QoS(quality of service) of attempted multimedia calls. In the initial stage of 3rd generation multimedia services networks, the major limitations include the small sefyice coverage and the limited radio link capacity. Because the initial massive deployment of network elements such as base stations, base station controllers, and mobile switching centers is restricted to populated areas and the other areas should be covered with the fewer network elements, the radio channel resources are hmited and coverage network is supposed to be established. Therefore the QoS of multimedia services is expected to be severely degraded when tentative traffic hot spot occurs frequently. Thus, the blocking probability of attempted calls mcreases when relatively large number of users try to place multimedia calls in a hot spot area of the wireless networks. In this situation, the proposed hybrid scheme can mitigate the degradation of the QoS of multimedia services by using the available radio channels of the neighboring cells.

Flow control for multimedia service in wireless networks (무선 네트워크에서 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 흐름 제어)

  • As the wireless internet grows exponentially, the recent trend has an increasing demand for wireless network and multimedia services. RTP is used to support the multimedia communication over the Internet and it supports the flexibility and adaptability over a wide range. However, RTP has a limitation that it cannot support end-to-end QoS guarantee in a wireless home network which has low throughput and high delay. In this paper, we propose the architecture of a real-time multimedia communication and design and implement the hybrid flow control in the architecture. The hybrid flow control mechanism is based on modified AIMD using metrics such as the network state information and the user properties. We implement the porposed flow control using JMF to evaluate the performance of the proposed flow control. The experimental results show that the proposed flow control has better performance than the AIMD.

  • Due to the development and proliferation of ubiquitous technologies and services, various sensor network applications are being appeared on the stage. The needs for algorithms requiring sensor data fusion and complex signal processing with a high-performance processor such as a digital signal processor are also increased. However, it is difficult to use such processor for the low-power sensor network operating with a battery because of power consumption. This paper proposes a hybrid-type sensor module architecture supporting wakeup/sleep software framework for the wireless sensor node and shows the implemented sensor node platform and performances focused on the energy consumption and wakeup time.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서 위치 서비스는 싱크의 이동성을 지원하기 위한 효율적인 솔루션으로 주목 받았으며 이에 대한 연구가 진행되어왔다. 연구된 방안은 싱크의 속도, 궤도와 같은 이동성 정책을 이용하여 위치 서비스의 성능을 향상시켰다. 그러나 기존의 방안은 싱크가 이동할 것으로 예상된 지점에서 데이터 전달을 위해 플러딩을 사용한다. 이러한 플러딩의 결과로 기존 방안은 센서 노드들의 많은 에너지 소비를 야기하며 센서 네트워크에서 노드들의 에너지 소모량은 중요한 이슈가 된다. 그러므로, 본 논문은 기존 방안과는 달리 싱크의 지속적인 업데이트를 통해 유니캐스트를 사용하여 센서 노드들의 에너지 소비를 줄이면서 소스로부터 이동 싱크로 데이터를 전달하는 방안을 제시한다.

Performance Analysis of Hybrid Decode-and-Forward Schemes for 2-hop Wireless Network (2-홉 무선 네트워크를 위한 하이브리드 복호 후 전달 기법의 성능 분석)

  • This paper analyses BER (Bit Error Rate) performance of 2-hop wireless communications networks with hybrid decode-and-forward (HDF) relays. The conventional HDF method is usually based on the receive signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for the relay to decide whether to forward the decoded data in order to obviate the erroneous detection at the relay. In contrast, we propose a new solution of using log-likelihood ratio (LLR) as an efficient alternative to SNR. The approximate BER expressions of different HDF schemes are also derived and verified by Monte-Carlo simulations. In addition, we compute the optimum thresholds for HDF schemes. A variety of numerical results demonstrate that the new LLR-based HDF significantly outperforms the SNR-based HDF for any threshold level and relay location under flat Rayleigh fading channel plus AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise).

An Energy and Delay Efficient Hybrid MAC Protocol for Multi-Hop Wireless Sensor Networks (멀티 홉 무선센서네트워크에서 에너지와 지연에 효율적인 하이브리드 MAC 프로토콜)

  • In this paper, we propose an energy efficient hybrid MAC protocol for multi-hop wireless sensor networks. The proposed MAC protocol used a hybrid mechanism, in which contention-based MAC protocol and contention free MAC protocol are combined. The sensor nodes located far from the sink node usually send few data packet since they try to send measured data by themselves. So contention-based MAC protocol is useful among them. But other nodes located near sink node usually have lots of data packets since they plays as a relay node. Contention-based MAC protocol among them is not suitable. Using contention-based MAC protocol in heavy data traffic environment, packet collisions and transmission delay may increase. In this paper, slot assignment between sender nodes by sink node is used. The proposed mechanism is efficient in energy and latency. Results showed that our MAC protocol outperformed other protocol in terms of data packet delivery delay and energy consumption.

  • This paper designs and Implements a connectivity analyzer for the hybrid vehicular network based on the real-life movement history data achieved from the Taxi telematics system currently in operation, aiming at providing a useful guideline and information to build a telematics network. The simulator traces the location of each vehicle, sets the vehicle type, either gateway or normal, decides whether it can be connected to a mobile gateway, keeps track of status of the vehicle, and calculates the duration of disconnected state. With this analysis considering the transmission range and gateway ratio, we can decide the cost-effective number of mobile gateways having both cellular and ad-hoc network interfaces, and buffer space requirement based on the measured disconnection time and message generation ratio.

  • A next generation military communication system called Tactical Information Communication Network(TICN) is designed to advance into large capacity, high speed, and long distance wireless relay transmission. To support mobility in battlefield, the application of Ad-hoc networking technology to its wireless communication is being considered. In Ad-hoc network, the key management technique is very important to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and authentication. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid key management scheme considering the hierarchical characteristics of the tactical ad-hoc such as TICN. For upper layer with sufficient energy and computation capability, we apply PKI based key management scheme. For lower layer with restricted resources, we propose a new key management scheme using the location-based authentication to ensure the energy efficiency.
