Content Packaging based on TV-Anytime for Personalized Content Services (맞춤형 콘텐츠 서비스를 위한 TV-Anytime 기반 콘텐츠 패키징)

  • In this paper, a package, that is a new type of contents providing new consumer experience under digital broadcasting environments. is introduced. To present various advantages of package that is in standardization process of TV-Anytime Phase-2, a service scenario for personalized educational content is proposed. Then, TV-Anytime Packaging technology to support the scenario is described. It is also shown that the personalized service that provides interactive and personalized consuming experience independent of the types of content and delivery channels is feasible by using TV-Anytime Packaging technology.

  • The traditional broadcasting services over terrestrial, satellite and cable media have been unidirectional mass media regardless of TV viewer's preferences. Recently ich media streaming has become possible via the broadb and networks. Furthermore, since bidirectional communication is possible, personalcasting such as personalized streaming services has been emerging by taking into account the user's preference on content genres, viewing times and actors/actresses etc. Accordingly, personal media becomes an important means for content provision service in addition to the traditional broadcasting service as mass media. In this paper, we introduce a user profile reasoning method for target advertisement which is considered an important application in personalcasting service. The proposed user profile reasoning method predicts an unknown TV viewer's gender and ages by analyzing TV Viewing history data. Based on the estimated user's gender and ages, a target advertisement is provided with TV Anytime metadata. A proposed target advertisement system is developed based on the user profile reasoning and the target advertisement selection method. To show the effectiveness of our proposed methods, we present a plenty of experimental results by using realistic TV viewing history data.

  • Edutainment is the one of important factors to study interactive TV for children, and it is a big portion in kid's marketing and education market as well. The aim of this study is to design interactive TV for children to maximize edutainment effects by researching children's behaviors. The analysis of children's behaviors with educational effects should be focused to apply designing user experience to propose new ideas of interactive TV. Through observing children's behaviors and interaction with other media, such as books, CD players, digital camera, and so on, TV can be reanalyzed as reliable media, which is creative interactive TV for children with proposals of user experience structure and interaction solution. TV has been changed from analog TV to IPTV and it will be different with network and interactive solution.

With the development of IT technology and the emergence of smart phones, user to pursue the application of high satisfaction.   • 본 논문은 TTA 에서 제정된 "HTML5 기반 스마트 TV 플랫폼" 표준(TTAK.KO-07.0111/R1)에 따라 개발되는 스마트 TV 수신기 앱이 표준의 기술 요구사항을 준수하여 적합하게 구현되고 있는지 검증할 수 있는 앱 검증 도구를 소개한다. 이 도구는 개발자에게 제공되는 통합개발환경에 포함되는 개발 툴의 하나로, 표준기반 스마트 TV 앱의 소스코드를 해석하고 의미를 분석하여, 표준의 기술 요구사항에 따라 정의된 검증 규격(Rule)을 준수하는지 검증해주는 역할을 한다. 도구의 기능범위는 JSLint, JSHint, ESLint 와 같은 기존 Open Source 기반 툴의 문법 검사 기능을 수용하고, 스마트 TV 플랫폼 특성에 따른 미지원 API, 확장 API 사용 및 웹 브라우저에서 지원되지 않는 기능에 대한 검증을 추가하였다. 스마트 TV 앱 개발자들은 이 도구를 사용하여 개발 비용이 적게 드는 초기 단계에 표준을 준수하는 앱을 구현 함으로서 TV 정합 시간을 줄일 수 있으며, 다른 디바이스나 플랫폼으로 앱을 이식하는 작업을 효율적, 경제적으로 할 수 있다.

  • Interactive TV의 주요 특징으로 고품질, 다채널, 다기능, 양방향성, 지능형 등을 들 수 있는데 그 중에서도 다채널화로 시청자들이 원하는 프로그램을 얼마나 쉽게 빨리 찾을 수 있을 것인가가 문제시되고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 EPG(Electronic Programing Guide) User Interface Design을 함에 있어 레이아웃, 컬러, 텍스트, 아이콘 등의 시각적 요소들과 네비게이션이 잘 구성되어야하고 디지털방송시스템의 기능적인 구조적 특징들이 잘 어울려질 때 진정한 EPG의 사용자 인터페이스 디자인이 탄생한다. 본 연구에서는 현재 방송사들이 사용하고 있는 EPG의 인터페이스 디자인을 분석하고 Interactive TV의 인터페이스 디자인에 관하여 문헌을 통한 연구를 한다. 이를 통해 새로운 EPG 인터페이스 디자인을 들어감에 있어 가이드라인을 제시하고자 한다. 사용자가 좀 더 편리하고 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 디자인을 개발하여 시청자들이 편리하게 사용하여 Interactive TV와의 대화가 원활하게 수행될 수 있도록 하는 것이 본 논문의 궁극적인 목적이다. 향후 본 연구에서 제시한 EPG 사용자 인터페이스 디자인 가이드라인이 EPG를 User Interface Design함에 있어 하나의 좋은 지침서가 될 것이다.

  • In this paper, we have studied the 8 YSB (8 Vestigial Side Band) method which is decided as the standard of modulators for next generation digital TV System. In developing digital TV System, one of the difficult problems is how digital signal can be transmitted to the receiver without any phase distortion. But, phase error is liable to occur by imperfect design, circumstance variation and device degradation. These characteristics result in distortion of 1,0 signal of modulator and interference in adjacent channels. In particular, the interference in modulator of a high power amplifier result in serious problems in adjacent channels. Here we analyzed problems of phase error which are occurred when 8 levels digital signals are modulated to If signal. And we suggested phase error compensation algorithm and discussed the results for adaptation of the algorithm

  • Digital Broadcasting serves a variety of broadcasting services for satisfying the requirement of customers. One of main factors for new broadcasting environment is interoperability between providers and consumers. For this interoperability, metadata standards are proposed for the digital broadcasting and TV-Anytime metadata is one of these standards. On the one hand, there are some researches for efficiently managing the broadcasting metadata on Set-Top Box. This paper proposes the metadata management system for efficiently managing the broadcasting metadata based on the STB which is low-cost and low-setting. Our system consists of a storage engine to store the metadata and an XQuery engine to search the stored metadata and uses special index for storing and searching. We expect that our system will keep the interoperability amongst a variety of applications for broadcasting because we adopts the XQuery for searching the metadata and the XQuery is a standard language for searching XML data.

  • Taking a broad view on the study, it enables one to understand all over the subject or discover some problem. On this thesis, by taking a broad view, the advertising was considered as a television media contents. And attempted to establish the identity of the audience's conception about the social or cultural influencing power of an advertising. Among the television media contents, the drama and cinema was compared with the advertising because of their influencing power in each personal, and tried to clarify diversely the influencing power of advertising. The influencing power survey for the advertising, cinema, drama was practiced by checking his or her conception about below three television media contents - advertising, cenema, drama. And the data were statistically conducted. As the result, some significant conception was found. The participants on the survey conceived the advertising as in the concept of 'Accomplishment', 'Variable', 'Progressive'. This results are considered as they prefered to be influenced by the advertising rather than the drama or cinema in the conception of 'New', 'Variety', 'Progressiveness'.

A Study on the Design Plan of Naval Combat System Software to Reduce Cost of Hardware Discontinuation Replacement

  • In this paper, we analyze the structure of TV video software, one of the warship combat management system software, and propose a standard architecture that minimizes software modification due to the discontinuation replacement of warship hardware. The class structure was newly designed to minimize the class modified when replacing the warship hardware by separating the variable elements and common elements of TV video software through FORM(Feature-Oriented Reuse Method), the common part that communicates with the warship combat management system and displays the TV screen and the variable part that communicates between the operator and the TV camera. In addition, the Strategy design pattern is applied to efficiently add and modify classes that directly use hardware-dependent APIs when replacing hardware discontinuation, and to make both discontinued and replacements available software. Finally, the reliability testing time and functional testing time of the existing TV video software and the proposed software were measured and compared, and finally, it was confirmed that the hardware discontinuation replacement cost was reduced.
