  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of ozone gas on paddy rice at the different nutrition levels. Jinjubyeo variety of rice plant was exposed to 0.3 ppm ozone gas for 3 hours. It was cultivated at three different application levels, optimum, -50%, and +50% of optimum of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, respectively. After ozone gas fumigation, percentage of damaged leaf, malondialdehyde contents, activity of peroxidase, and nutrient contents of rice plant were observed. The results obtained are as follows. 1) Percentage of damaged leaf was increased at the both additional 50% application of nitrogen and 50% reduction of potassium. 2) Malondialdehyde contents of leaves were increased with the ozone gas exposure. 3) Percentage of damaged leaf was increased at the lower level of $K_2O/N$ ratio in leaves. 4) Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium contents in rice leaves were decreased with the ozone gas exposure. 5) The peroxidase bands on gel in electrophoresis were changed by the ozone gas exposure.

  • This experiment was conducted to know tolerance to cold temperature of the grape shoots collected at different locations and dormant periods in 1996 to 1997. The results from this experiment were as follows; (1) There is a little difference among locations in their electric conductance of Campbell Early cultivar, in Dec. 1996. But the least damage was shown at Kyung Joo while severe at Young Dong district in Jan. 1997. (2) Electric conductance of Sheridan cultivar was showing the same tendency as Campbell Early. (3) Early dormant period(December) affected severe bud browning at Young Dong than that of January. The grape shoot collected at Kyung San and Kyung Joo Showed a little influence on bud browning during December and January. (4) Likewise, bark browning of the grape shoot collected at Young Dong showed the same tendency with bud browning test. (5) The bud of grape shoot was bursted even at $-20^{\circ}C$. But rate of bud bursting was lower at Young Dong than the other districts at $-15^{\circ}C$ and $-20^{\circ}C$. From these results, the authors believe that we must introduce and test for suitable cultivation area and temperature before selection of permanent cultivating location.

Flood damage cost projection in Korea using 26 GCM outputs (26 GCM 결과를 이용한 미래 홍수피해액 예측)

  • This study aims to predict the future flood damage cost of 113 middle range watersheds using 26 GCM outputs, hourly maximum rainfall, 10-min maximum rainfall, number of days of 80 mm/day, daily rainfall maximum, annual rainfall amount, DEM, urbanization ratio, population density, asset density, road improvement ratio, river improvement ratio, drainage system improvement ratio, pumping capacity, detention basin capacity and previous flood damage costs. A constrained multiple linear regression model was used to construct the relationships between the flood damage cost and other variables. Future flood damage costs were estimated for different RCP scenarios such as 4.5 and 8.5. Results demonstrated that rainfall related factors such as annual rainfall amount, rainfall extremes etc. widely increase. It causes nationwide future flood damage cost increase. Especially the flood damage cost for Eastern part watersheds of Kangwondo and Namgang dam area may mainly increase.

Parasitism of Liriomyza trifolii (Diptera: Agromyzidae) by Hemiptarsenus zilahisebessi(Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) on Tomato (토마토에서 Hemiptarsenus zilahisebessi에 의한 아메리카잎굴파리 기생율)

  • This study was conducted to investigate percentage of parasitism and control effect of Liriomyza trifolii by Hemiptarsenus zilahisebessi on tomato. Percentages of parasitism on L. trifolii larva by ectopatasitoids war e 26∼45% Among them the parasitism by H. zilahisebessi was highest as 47∼75% in tomato. The parasitoids preferred 1 st to 3rd instar of host larvae. In laboratory test, the parasitoids showed high parasitism on 3rd instar larvae of host by 89.8∼93.1% when the female parasitoids were introduced by the ratios of 1 : 10, 1 : 20, and 1 : 30. In field test, 3 or 5 female parasitoids were introduced per plant. In the case, the parasitism increased to 80% 4 weeks after introduction of the parasitoids. This increased parasitism was resulted from density reduction of the host larvae There were no significant differences in parasitism, density of alive host, and percentage of damaged leaf between inoculation density.

  • 치수경제성분석, 투자우선순위 및 시설물 규모결정 등의 의사결정과정에서 실무에서는 다차원 홍수피해산정법(MD-FDA)을 현재까지 널리 사용 중이다. 2004년에 개발된 MD-FDA는 대상지역의 자산규모를 행정구역 경계 최소단위인 "읍면동"을 기준으로 계산하여 취합하고, 대상자산이 위치가능한 토지이용정보를 토지피복도로부터 확인하여, 읍면동내 토지이용공간면적을 기준으로 자산정보를 분배(분해)하는 방식으로 이루어진다. 그러나 읍면동 단위의 공간적인 범위는 상당한 면적의 공간적 경계이기 때문에, 이를 평균적인 밀도데이터로 분배 시 공간적인 자산분포에 대해 정밀도를 담보할 수 없다. 이에 본 연구는 행정구역경계인 "읍면동"과 비교할 때 평균적으로 1/30의 면적을 가지는 집계구 단위의 센서스 공간정보자료를 이용하여 방법론을 개선하였고, 이를 MD-FDA 분석체계를 근간으로 센서스자료와 관계된 자료들 간의 연계 및 전체적인 분석과정을 정립하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 방법을 경기도 동두천시를 대상으로 적용하여 기존 방법에 의한 피해액과 그 차이를 비교하였고, 도로명전자지도의 실제 건물객체 자료(.shp)를 기준으로 오차율을 확인한 결과, 기존 방식에 비해 정밀도가 월등히 향상된 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Selection of Pitch-loblolly Hybrid Pine Plus Tree Progenies for Cold-hardiness (리기테다 수형목(秀型木) 차대(次代)들의 내한성(耐寒性)에 대(對)한 선발(選拔))

  • One-year-old seedlings of open-pollinated progenies of pitch-loblolly hybrid pine plus trees were selected for cold-hardiness during cold winter of 1983-1984. Survived trees were planted in three locations. Two years later, the ratio of cold-damaged trees and 3rd year heights were recorded. The ratio of the, cold-damage trees among screened progenies were 5.6% in Kyunggi and 22.6% in Chungnam, while 9.3% and 43.3%, respectively, in unscreened control plot. Severely damaged families at one-year-old seedling stage also suffered heavy cold damage after two years. Not much differences were observed between families in 3rd year height.

Biological Activities of Five Weed Extracts against Callosobruchus chinensis L. (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) (식물추출물의 밭바구미에 대한 생물활성)

  • This study was conducted with n-hexane extracts of sensitive plant Mimosa pudica, mexican poppy Argemone mexicana, panimarich Leucus aspara, water pepper Polygonum hydropiper and shialmutra Blumea lacera weeds against pulse beetle Callosobruchus chinensis (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) for protection of mung bean Vigna radiata grains. The $LC_{50}$ values of the weed extracts ranged from 4.5 to 6.4, 4.1 to 5.6 and 3.6 to 5.5 g/100 mL at 24, 48 and 72 hours of post treatment, respectively. The extracts showed 35 to 69% fecundity and 33 to 63% adult emergence inhibitory effect on the pest, and revealed 13 to 49% grain protection of mung beans. Insect mortality, fecundity and adult emergence inhibitory effects, and grain protection activity increased with increased concentration of the extracts. The shialmutra followed by water pepper extracts revealed better performances in fecundity and adult beetle emergence inhibitory effect compared to the other weeds. The findings proved that the n-hexane extracts of the five weeds are sources of botanical insecticides which may be used in the integrated management of C. chinensis.

The Effect to Agricultural Crop Yield and Sulfur Content in Leaves by Sulfur Dioxide Gas Emission from Onsan Nonferric Metal Industrial Complex (온산(溫山) 공단지역(工團地域)의 배출(排出)가스 (아황산(亞黃酸))가 농작물(農作物) 수량(收量) 및 식물체내(植物體內) 유황함량(硫黃含量)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the crop yield of pear and rice cultivated around Onsan Industrial complex, the sulfur content in their leaves, and the crop loss. The correlation between them is as follows: 1) The sulfur content in pear and rice leaves in studied area is higher than that in unpolluted area, and there is crop loss in studied area. 2) There is a good correlation between sulfur content and crop loss of pear and rice. The air pollution in studied area is considered to be the reason of the crop loss. 3) The regression equation between the sulfur content in crop leaves and the crop loss seems to be useful for the crop loss rate by sulfur dioxide in the damaged area and that seems to be a good reference for the compensation of pear and rice loss by sulfur dioxide gas emission from Onsan Industral Complex.
