  • A 32-year old housewife, living in Seoul, recognized incidentally a painless mass at the left chest wall. During later 3 months, she experienced spontaneous swelling and regression of the mass repeatedly for 4 times. Surgical resection showed a granuloma at anterior serratus muscle containing a nearly matured adult of Fasciola species without vitellaria and uterus. This is the l1th human fascioliasis and the first extra-abdominal infection reported in Korea.

  • A 1-year-old female hedgehog was presented with subcutaneous mass in the right forelimb. Grossly, an elevated subcutaneous mass approximately 4 cm in diameter was located in forelimb. Central dark brown area was surrounded by peripheral milky white zone in the cut surface of mass. Histopathologically, numerous neoplastic cells formed irregular cords or sheets in dermis. Most of neoplastic cells showed palisading features to basement membrane with or without central caseous necrosis. These neoplastic cells showed invasive tendency to adjacent tissues. According to immunohistochemistry, the neoplastic cells demonstrated strong positive signals for pancytokeratin, and negative for vimentin. Based on the gross, histopathology and immunohistochemistry, this mass was diagnosed as basal cell carcinoma in a hedgehog.

  • There are various diseases in soft tissue tumors that occur in subcutaneous tissue, and hematoma generally would be occurred in traumatic or coagulopathic condition. We report a case of hematoma on left gluteal area that was diagnosed by ultrasonography and was resected in 70 year old woman who visited the hospital because of left gluteal mass detected by chance two month ago and slowly growing.

• A 1-year-old Goffin cockatoo (Cacatua goffini) presented a soft non-painful and balloon-like mass around the cervical area. Subcutaneous emphysema due to cervicocephalic air sac trauma was diagnosed based on history and physical examination, and was confirmed by radiographic examination. Because the cutaneous tab was unsuccessful, a modified syringe stent was carried out. The bird showed no adverse signs for two weeks after implantation. After surgical removal of the stent, the bird did not reveal subcutaneous emphysema.

  • A 48-year-old man presented with a dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) of the scalp associated with local recurrence. Axial T1- and T2-weighted images demonstrated a well-circumscribed hypointense and intermediate hyperintense mass in the skin and subcutaneous layer of the scalp, respectively. Contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images showed the strongly enhanced mass invasion to the skin, subcutaneous layer and adjacent galeal layer. Scalp DFSP is very uncommon but is an aggressive tumor, so MR imaging diagnosis of the extent of the lesion to underlying structures, and initial wide local resection is important to prevent recurrence.

  • Bronchogenic cyst is rare lesion that arises from maldevelopment of the primitive foregut, and is usually found in the lung and mediastinum. Cutaneous or subcutaneous bronchogenic cyst is rare and occur unusually in the shoulder region. We report here a case of 20-month-old boy with a bronchogenic cyst on his left shoulder region. He underwent incisional biopsy and curettage for a tender cystic mass at a department of dermatology, diagnosed as a epidermal inculsion cyst. But, additional cystic mass was palpated during wound care. MRI showed a well-defined subcutaneous cystic mass. The excised cyst was lined with pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium with occasional goblet cells and diagnosed as a bronchogenic cyst.

  • We present a case of a 37-year-old woman who had Kimura's disease involving the lower extremity mimicking malignant soft tissue mass. The diagnosis of Kimura's disease would be considered if there is a subcutaneous solid mass showing the preservation of the nodal architecture with perinodal infiltrations and the laboratory examinations for peripheral eosinophilia and serum IgE level should be recommended although it occurs at the lower extremity.

  • An 18-year-old, neutered female, Yorkshire terrier was presented with abdominal mass. Large abdominal mass was located in right 4th and 5th mammary glands. Surgically excised mammary mass was submitted for histological evaluation. Microscopically, multifocal to confluent neoplastic foci were existed from superficial dermis to subcutis. Several different growth patterns such as comedo, solid, cribriform, and micropapillary were present in the neoplastic foci. Large neoplastic mammary ducts showed great invasive tendency to adjacent tissues. Many superficial lymphatic plexuses and dermal lymphatics contained numerous neoplastic cell emboli. Because comedo pattern was demonstrated by more than 50% of the neoplastic cell population, we confirmed this case as mammary comedocarcinoma according to recent classification of canine mammary tumors.

  • Solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura has been classified as a type of mesothelioma. This tumor have been recently described and distinguished from the mesothelioma, immunohistochemically and elect r om ic ro scop ical 1 y Thls 65 years female was admitted with right chest pain, coughing and dysnea. Chest X-ray and C-T scan showed a huge mass in the right thorax. Right thoracotomy was done and a 12$\times$12$\times$6cm(400gm) sized mass was excised, and the tumor had metastasized to the diaphragm, parietal pleura and lung parenchyma. Microscopically, the tumor Is composed of oval-round and plump spindle cells with diffuse pattern. There are occasional mitoses (311 OHPFS) and invasion to lung parenchyma. The immunohistochemical and electromicroscopical findings are consistent with malignant solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura. We experienced a case of pleural malignant solitary fibrous tumor and report this case with the review of literature.
