  • 전 세계적으로 자연 친화, 하천생태계 보전, 친수하천 등을 조성하기 위한 대대적인 하천 정비사업이 활발히 진행 중에 있다. 최근 홍수로 인한 제방 붕괴에 대응하기 위한 제방의 안정화 및 개선을 위한 방법으로 기존의 시멘트와 같은 혼합물질을 사용하지 않고 환경 친화적이고 지속 가능한 대안에 대한 수요가 증가되고 있는 추세이며 현재 노후화 된 불안정 제방에 대한 보강대책을 수립해나가는 과정으로써 친환경 신소재를 활용하여 제방을 보호하는 연구가 수행되고 있다. 제방사면에 적용되는 신소재는 바이오폴리머를 활용한 재료로써 공동연구기관 카이스트에서 개발된 환경 친화적인 물질로 미생물에 의해 유도된 고인장 및 인체 무해성 등의 특성을 갖고 있으며 경제적 타당성인 측면에서 시멘트와 비교 분석 되어야 하고 실제 현장에서의 적용 가능성, 신뢰성 및 내구성 검토 등 성능을 보장하기 위한 지속적인 연구가 필요한 상황이다. 이에 본 안동하천실험센터에서는 중규모 제방을 직접 제작하여 수리모형실험을 통한 친환경 신소재 활용 제방의 안정성 및 성능 평가를 실시하였다. 수리실험 조건은 카이스트에서 제시된 레시피를 기반으로 먼저 분말형태의 바이이폴리머를 물과 희석하여 만들어진 바이오폴리머 용액을 흙과 혼합한 뒤 제방표면에 직접 미장작업을 수행하여 실험조건에 따라 일정한 두께(1cm, 3cm, 5cm)로 피복하였다. 이후 월류 붕괴 실험이 가능한 3 - 5일 정도의 양생기간을 거쳐 실험을 진행하였다. 실험결과는 다수의 고프로(GoPro) 및 비디오 카메라 등 다양한 영상장치를 이용하여 픽셀기반의 영상분석기법을 활용한 시간 흐름에 따른 제방 사면에서의 붕괴규모를 산정하여 신소재의 피복 두께에 따른 제체의 붕괴 거동 및 안정성을 평가하였으며, 또한 제방 파괴부에서의 흐름 상황 및 유속이 붕괴 발달에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 PIV 분석을 실시하였다. 이번 연구의 최종목표는 지속적인 예비실험을 수행하여 월류 및 침투, 파이핑 등 파괴 인자 별 신소재의 성능 개선 및 개발된 새로운 공법에 대한 효과 검토를 통한 최적안을 도출함으로써 향후 실규모 실험실증을 통한 신소재 시공 및 공법에 대한 현장적용 가능성 검증을 거쳐 최종적으로 신소재 제방 공법 설계 기술, 신소재 및 공법 표준안, 제방공법 안정성 평가 가이드라인 등을 제시하고자 하며, 이러한 실험데이터를 축적함으로써 실제 제방 붕괴 시 비상대처계획 수립에 필요한 기초자료로 활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

Development of TDR-based Water Leak Detection Sensor for Seawater Pipeline of Ship (시간영역반사계를 이용한 해수배관시스템의 누수 탐지용 센서 개발 연구)

  • Time domain reflectometry (TDR) is a diagnostic technique to evaluate the physical integrity of cable and finds application in leak detection and localization of piping system. In this study, a cable-shaped leak detection sensor was proposed using the TDR technique for monitoring leakage detection of ship's engine room seawater piping system. The cable sensor was developed using a twisted pair arrangement and wound by an absorbent material. The availability and performance of the sensor for leak detection and localization were evaluated on a lab-scale pipeline set up. The developed sensor was installed onto the pipes and flanges of the lab-scale set up and various TDR waveforms were acquired and analyzed according to the dif erent variables including the number of twists and sheath thickness. The result indicated that the twisted cable sensor was able to produce clear and smooth signal as compared to the TDR sensor with a parallel arrangement. The optimal number of twist was determined to be above 10 per the unit length. The optimal diameter of sheath thickness that results in the desired sensitivity was determined to be ranging from 80% up to 120% of the diameter of the conductor. The linear regression analysis for estimation of leak localization was carried out to estimate the location of the leakage, and the result was a determination coefficient of 0.9998, indicating a positive relationship with the actual leakage point. The proposed TDR based leak detection method appears to be an effective method for monitoring leakage of ship's seawater piping system.

  • Fire resistance is very essential for all buildings to save peoples who live within buildings or use and to protect the properties when the buildings are covered with fire. The fire resistance were evaluated by loading or nonloading fire tests which are known very expensive and require lots of time. That causes the lacks of research activities and there are only small cases of fire resistance. The purposes of this paper are to analyze the temperature analysis for various structural elements such as columns and beams those are can be applied to buildings and to suggest the resonable fire protective thickness of concrete slab according to the required fire resistance time.

An Experimental Study on the Behavior of Capping Material by Sea Waves (파랑에 의한 피복재의 거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In-situ capping is a method to stabilize contaminated sediments by isolation. Few researches on the in-situ capping have been performed, although the engineering approach is still required to prevent the release of contaminants. In this study, hydraulic model test were conducted by using a wave generator to observe the change of cap thickness which is important factor in design of capping. Sands with particle size between 0.075 to 2 mm as capping materials were used to observe the change of capping thickness by waves. The experimental results show that the surface of capping materials is similar to wave form. The more wave height increases, the more erosion of capping materials increases.

  • 최근 국지성 호우 및 하천 제방의 노후화로 인한 제방 붕괴 피해가 빈번히 발생하면서 제방의 안정성 및 표면 보강을 위한 다양한 연구가 시도되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 제방 붕괴에 따른 피해 최소화 및 대책을 수립하기 위한 방법으로 시멘트와 같은 지구온난화를 야기시키는 물질이 아닌 친환경 신소재 바이오폴리머를 흙과 혼합한 재료를 활용하여 제방의 내구성을 강화하기 위한 연구가 수행되고 있다. 이에 안동하천실증연구센터에서는 현장토를 사용하여 높이 1 m, 폭 3 m, 사면경사 1 : 2, 총 길이 5 m 의 중규모 제방모형을 제작하였으며, 공동연구기관인 카이스트에서 개발된 바이오폴리머와 흙을 적정 비율로 혼합한 바이오-소일을 제방 전면에 일정 두께로 피복하여 월류 발생에 따른 제방 안정성 평가 실험을 수행하였다. 1차 실험은 흙 제방 조건이며, 2 3차 실험은 제방 표면에 5 cm 두께로 신소재가 피복된 조건으로 안정된 결과 도출을 위해 반복 실험을 수행하였다. 제방 천단면 및 사면에서의 유속분포를 측정하기 위해 드론 및 비디오카메라를 활용한 LSPIV 기법을 적용하여 실험조건에 따른 표면유속과 월류 흐름이 제방 붕괴에 미치는 영향에 대해 비교분석하였다. 또한 그래픽 소프트웨어를 이용한 픽셀기반 영상분석 기법을 적용하여 시간에 따른 제방사면의 붕괴면적을 산정하여 신소재 피복에 따른 붕괴 지연효과 분석을 통한 신소재 활용 제방의 현장 적용가능성 및 안정성을 평가하였다. 본 연구결과, 흙 제방의 경우 월류 흐름 발생 직후 침식현상이 전개되어 유속분포가 집중되고 있었으며, 이후 발생하는 강한 수직흐름으로 인해 입자추적을 통한 분석이 더 이상 불가능하였다. 신소재 제방의 경우 월류 흐름 발생 직후 침식은 발생하지 않았으며 일정시간동안 유속분포가 유지되었다. 지속적인 월류 흐름으로 인해 제방 끝단에서 침식이 발생하였으며 이때 최대 유속은 3.3 m/s 로 나타났다. 또한 픽셀기반 분석을 통해 30초 단위로 표면손실률을 산정한 결과, 신소재 활용 제방(2, 3차)의 경우 같은 실험조건에도 불구하고 최종 붕괴시간은 약 3배의 차이를 보였으며, 양생 과정에서의 크랙 발생을 최소화한다면 월류 발생 시 상당한 붕괴지연효과가 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Application of Lime Stone, Sand, and Zeolite as Reactive Capping Materials for Marine Sediments Contaminated with Organic Matters and Nutrients (유기물 및 영양염류로 오염된 해양퇴적물 정화를 위한 석회석, 모래, 제올라이트의 반응성 피복 소재로서 적용성 평가)

  • In this study, the applicability of calcite, sand, and zeolite for the remediation of sediments contaminated with organics and nutrients were investigated. Sediments and seawater for water tank experiments were sampled from Pyeongtaek harbor, and 1 cm or 3 cm of calcite, sand, and zeolite were capped on the sampled sediments. pH, electric conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) were monitored for 63 days. The sampled sediments were highly contaminated with organic matter and total nitrogen. DO in uncapped condition was exhausted within 10 days but DO in capping condition except 3 cm of zeolite capping was prolonged above 2 mg/L. Capping efficiency for interrupting COD release from sediments was in the following order: zeolite 1 cm > calcite 1 cm > calcite 3 cm > sand 3 cm ${\cong}$ zeolite 3 cm ${\cong}$ sand 1 cm. Zeolite was found to be effective for interrupting nitrogen release. T-P was not observed in both uncapped and capped sediment, i.e., all experimental conditions. It can be concluded that zeolite can be effectively used for the remediation of sediments highly contaminated with organic matter and nitrogen.

Characteristics of Ganoderma lucidum during short log cultivation with soil contact barrier treatment (영지버섯(Ganoderma lucidum) 단목재배시 토양접촉차단재 처리별 자실체 특성)

  • Arthrographis cuboidea is a wood rot fungus found in soil. It causes disease in repeated cultivation areas of Ganoderma lucidum, which damage the mushroom logs and causes considerable loss of income to mushroom farmers. This study aimed to investigate the physicochemical properties of soil and characteristics of the growth environment such as the temperature of the Ganoderma lucidum cultivated land. The time required for primordia initiation was 12-13 days. In the chromaticity survey, the degree of redness (a) was 19.5 for vinyl, 20.2 for control, and 19.5 for nonwoven. The yellowness index (b) was 12.7 for vinyl, 13.3 for control, and 12.4 for nonwoven. In the study of growth characteristics, in case of no treatment (control), the length and thickness of the pileus were measured as 145.7 mm and 23.6 mm and those of the stipe were 73.9 mm and 11.5 mm, respectively, and the weight was 130 g. Treatment with non-woven fabric resulted in 157 mm and 93.3 mm long and 22.3 mm and 11.9 mm thick pileus and stipe, respectively, and the weight was 164 g. This result indicates that treatment with non-woven fabric is better than no treatment with respect to Ganoderma lucidum growth.

Studies on the Electrochemical Dissolution for the Treatment of 10 g-Scale Zircaloy-4 Cladding Hull Wastes in LiCl-KCl Molten Salts (LiCl-KCl 용융염 내에서 10 g 규모의 Zircaloy-4 폐 피복관 처리를 위한 전기화학적 용해 연구)

  • The electrochemical behaviors of 10 g-scale fresh and oxidized Zircaloy-4 cladding hulls were examined in $500^{\circ}C$ LiCl-KCl molten salts to confirm the feasibility of the electrorefining process for the treatment of hull wastes. In the results of measuring the potential-current response using a stainless steel basket filled with oxidized Zircaloy-4 hull specimens, the oxidation peak of Zr appears to be at -0.7 to -0.8 V vs. Ag/AgCl, which is similar to that of fresh Zircaloy-4 hulls, while the oxidation current is found to be much smaller than that of fresh Zircaloy-4 hulls. These results are congruent with the outcome of current-time curves at -0.78 V and of measuring the change in the average weight and thickness after the electrochemical dissolution process. Although the oxide layer on the surface affects the uniformity and rate of dissolution by decreasing the conductivity of Zircaloy-4 hulls, electrochemical dissolution is considered to occur owing to the defect of the surface and phase properties of the Zr oxide layer.

Comparison of Pipeline and Clamshell Capping Technologies for the Remediation of Contaminated Marine Sediments (해양 오염퇴적물 정화를 위한 원통관과 클램쉘을 이용한 피복 기술의 비교)

  • In situ capping technology for marine sediment pollution control has never been applied in South Korea. In this study a pilot project for the capping was carried out in Busan N Harbor. Pipeline and clamshell capping technologies were implemented for the pollution control. Changes of capping shapes, sediment contamination, and the time and costs required for the two constructions were compared. Both the pipeline and clamshell technologies were found to satisfy the target thickness of 50 cm on average. However, the pipeline method did not operate sensitively in terms of change of the sea floor topography, resulting in an uneven shape and a thickness. Organic carbon and ignition loss quite decreased after the pipeline or the clamshell capping while pH showed no significant change. Organic and residual fraction of Cd, Ni, and Zn in the sediments appeared to decrease after all cappings. The pipeline method took a construction time four times as much as the clamshell method. The clamshell method was demonstrated to reduce the construction cost by about 40% compared with the pipeline method. However, a monitoring for all the parameters needs to be conducted at least two years in order to better evaluate an efficiency of the pollution control by these capping constructions.

  • Destructive examination of 14$\times$14 PWR fuel burned for 3 cycles are carried out to investigate the in-reactor fuel performance. The results obtained are as follows; 1) Grain growth is not occured at the fuel center. 2) Fuel density is decreased as the turnup increase, the density is down to 94.4% TD at burnup of 36,000 MWD/MTU. 3) Average thickness of oxide layer on cladding is less than 10 $\mu$m in the lower and middle section, while it is rapidly increased above 20 $\mu$m in the upper section. 4) The rate of hydride production in the cladding is large in the upper section than lower section and is related to the production of oxide on the cladding
