Effects of Mixing Ratio of Substrates and Concentration of Fertigation in Nutrient Solutions on the Early Growth of Cucumber Plug Seedlings (배지의 혼입비율과 관비 양액 농도가 오이 플러그묘의 초기생장에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was carried out to develop the substrate mixtures for the production of high quality plug seedlings of cucumber. Peatmoss based substrates, rice hull, carbonized rice hull, decomposed sawdust, perlite and granular rockwool were mixed by five different mixing ratioes (M1, M2, M3, M4 and M5). The cultivars used were cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. cv. Janghyung heukjinju) plants. The higher the content of peatmoss added, the higher the plant growth in terms of plant height, leaf area and total dry weight, which leading to the production of high quality plug seedlings. Seedlings growth of cucumber were greater in M5 mixtures [peatmoss:rice hull:decomposed sawdust=40:40:20(v/v)], M4 mixtures [peatmoss:rice hull:decomposed sawdust:granular rockwool=30:25:20:25(v/v)] and M2 mixtures [peatmoss:rice hull:decomposed sawdust:granular rockwool=20:20:15:25:20(v/v)] The concentrations of nutrient solution (EC) had a great influence on plant height, leaf area, total fresh and dry weight of cucumber seedlings growth. As the concentration of nutrient solution increased from 0.1 to $1.5dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$, the growth and seedling quality of cucumber in plant height, leaf area and dry weight were significantly improved.

Effects of Cutting Condition on Growth of Rooted Cuttings and Cut Flower in Plug Cutting of Dendranthema grandiflorum 'Baekma' (국화 '백마'의 플러그 육묘시 삽목조건이 삽목묘와 절화 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to examine the effect of cutting condition on the growth of rooted cuttings and their subsequent growth of cut flower in plug cutting of Dendranthema grandiflorum 'Baekma'. The more leaves were attached to the cutting, the higher shoot growth of rooted cutting was observed. Cutting with two to six leaves was effective in shoot growth and rooting than any other treatment. Shoot growth of rooted cutting was not affected by cutting length, but rooting was better in 5 to 7 cm long cutting. Shoot growth and rooting of rooted cutting was promoted by increasing the cutting diameter, and rooting was better in 3.6-4.2 mm thick cutting than 3.1 mm thick cutting. As the treating concentration of NAA increased, shoot growth was inhibited and root length shortened in rooted cutting. Soaking with $100mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ ${\alpha}$-naphtalene acetic acid (NAA) for 1 h was effective in shoot growth and rooting. Root growth such as root number, root length, and root weight was better in rooting medium mixed with 2:2 of peatmoss:perlite than the other treatments. When rooted cutting produced from cutting with four or six leaves was planted, better length, weight, and leaf number of cut flower was observed. In rooted cutting produced with 7-9 cm long cutting, growth of cut flower such as length, weight, and ray flower number was more effective than the others. Therefore, it is recommended that the 7 cm long and 3.6 mm thick cutting with four to six leaves is used to improve their rooting and subsequent growth of cut flower in plug cutting of Dendranthema grandiflorum 'Baekma'.

  • 묘생산 시스템은 크게 개방형과 폐쇄형으로 구분된다. 개방형 묘생산 시스템은 시스템 내부와 외부의 공기ㆍ물ㆍ열 등의 교환이 가능한 시스템을 의미한다. 현재 실생묘, 삽목묘, 접목묘 등은 일사가 투과되는 온실 또는 묘포장에서 생산된다. 그러므로 온실 또는 묘포장을 이용한 묘생산 시스템은 개방형 묘생산 시스템에 해당한다. 개방형 묘생산 시스템에서는 외부기상의 변동에 따라 시스템 내의 기온, 상대습도, 광량, 기류속도, $CO_2$ 농도 등의 물리적 환경요인이 변화하므로 이들 환경 요인을 일정한 수준으로 제어하기가 쉽지 않다. 때문에 균일한 묘소질을 지닌 묘의 계획적 생산이 근본적으로 불가능하다. Seed Treatment and Plug Production of Ornamental Grasses (Gramineae spp.) (화본과 관상용 그래스의 종자처리와 플러그 묘 생산)

  • This research was carried out to establish a mass-production method and to develop ornamental Gramineae species as cash crops for famers as three species of ornamental grasses were used for seed treatment and plug production. Germination rates of Arundinella hirta were improved to 52.6% by soaking in 4% NaOCl for 60 min and 49.4% with 4% NaOH for 30 min. Germination rates of Panicum virgatum were 20.3% and 22.4% when treated with 4% NaOCl for 10 min and 2% NaOH for 60min treatment, respectively. Pennisetum alopecuroides showed germination rates higher than 98% with both 4% of NaOCl and NaOH for 60 min. When the same size of trays were used, Pennisetum showed faster plug formation in 21 and 30 days with 162 and 40 cell trays, respectively. Arundinella showed a similar trend with Pannicum in completing plug formation, those took 32, 41, and 44 days with the 162, 72, and 40 cell tray, respectively. Plug production was faster with smaller cells; however, total growing period was longer with larger cells in general.

  • 식물묘(transplant)는 육묘 후 포장에서 정식이 이루어지는 묘를 의미한다. 묘소질은 묘가 지녀야할 속성으로서 초장, 절간장, 엽색, 엽의 두께, 엽형, 괴근 형태 등은 묘의 외관과 관련된 묘소질에 해당하며, 광합성속도, 근활력, 엽록소 함량 등은 생리적 묘소질에 해당한다(Kim, 2002). 묘소질이 우수한 묘, 즉 외관이 우수하며, 병충해에 오염되지 않고, 생리 생태적 상태가 우수한 우량묘를 재배에 이용하면 정식 단계에서 활착 환경에 쉽게 적응하거나, 재배 과정에서 비료, 농약, 자재, 관리 노력 등을 적게 투입할지라도 수량이 증대되거나 품질 향상이 기대되므로 향후 우량묘에 대한 수요가 크게 증가할 것으로 예상된다(김과 박, 2002).   • 1995년 현재 전국의 육묘장 수는 대략 25개소에 이른다. 1992년부터 도입되기 시작한 플러그육묘 방식은 급속도로 늘어나 매년 5-7개소가 신설되고 있다. 이와 같이 양적팽창에도 불구하고 품질, 수량, 납기 및 경영상의 문제점을 드러내고 있어 상당수의 육묘장은 경영적 어려움에 처해 있다. 이와 같은 문제점 중에서도 가장 심각한 것은 기술수준의 낙후로 인한 품질의 저하이다. 플러그는 작은 셀내에서 육모되기 때문에 밀도가 높아 도장의 우려가 크다. (중략)

Effects of Timings and Light Intensities of Supplemental Red Light on the Growth Characteristics of Cucumber and Tomato Plug Seedlings (적색광 처리시기 및 광도가 오이 및 토마토 플러그묘의 생장에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was established to control the overgrowth of cucumber and tomato plug seedlings by controlling of irradiation timings light intensities of red (R) light. Compared with the control, end-of-day (EOD) timing of R irradiation significantly reduced the seeding heights by 21.3% and 14.2% in cucumber and tomato, respectively. In addition, both plant seedlings treated with R light at EOD timing had the thickest stem diameter. Tomato seedlings treated with R light at EOD showed th highest chlorophyll content and the smallest leaf size. Dry weights of above ground plant tissue in both plant seedlings were significantly reduced by EOD R light treatment. And both plant seedlings treated with EOD treatment had the lowest T/R ratio, and the highest compactness rates. The increased intensities of R light resulted in the shorter plant heights in cucumber and tomato plant seedlings. It also reduced the length of hypocotyls and internodes and the size of leaves in the both seedlings. Elevated R light intensities tended to increase the stem diameter and chlorophyll contents. Dry weights of above ground plant tissue and roots in both plant seedlings were reduced by the elevated R irradiation. Cucumber seedlings treated with 2 and 8 $mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ and tomato seedlings treated with 8 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ had significantly lower T/R ratio the other treatments tested.

Production of Plug Plantlets for Mass Propagation Using Stem Cuttings of Virus Free Microtubers in Potato (감자 바이러스 무균종묘의 대량생산과 플러그화에 관한 기초 연구)

  • This experiment was carried out to develop the mass propagation system for producing plug plantlets using stem cuttings of virus-tree microtubers in potato. Cocopeat, vermiculite, perlite and peatmoss were combined and used as plug nursery media to find out the best combination suitable for the growth of seedlings derived from microtubers. Seedling growth was favored in high temperature (above 2$0^{\circ}C$) and a long-day photoperiod(above 16 hours) condition, while stolons and microtubers formed in outdoor condition. Shoot and root multiplication was not affected by NAA 10mg /1 or IAA 10mg /1 treatment. At the early growth stage of plug plantlets, the number of leaves and roots and the length of root increased significantly when nodes from the upper (near to apex) part of shoots rather than from basal part were taken. But after transplanting, these differences among these characters were not observed. At ninety days after transplanting the plug plantlets in spring time, plant was around 70 to 80cm in height, and the number of stolons and tubers were ten and seven, respectively.
