Power and Efficiency Optimization through Exergy Analysis of Power Plant (발전 플랜트의 엑서지 해석으로부터 발전량 및 발전효율 최적화)

  • Even if an expert who has majored energy engineering, it is a difficult concept to understand power output optimization and power efficiency optimization. In this study a diagram applying thermodynamic state value as specific exergy and exergy ratio was developed. Although general peoples who did not major energy engineering can be easily understand the concept of power output optimization and power efficiency through the developed diagram. A represented property that can identify the performance of power plant is the main steam temperature and pressure. At the developed diagram the maximum power output line and maximum power efficiency line are shown according to the temperature and pressure of main steam. Therefore we can identify how much a power plant approach to maximum power output and maximum power efficiency.

Design of Hybrid Controller Using Neural Network-Fuzzy (신경망-퍼지 하이브리드 제어기 설계)

  • In this paper, we proposed a hybrid neural network-fuzzy controller which compensate a output of neural network controller. Even if learn by neural network controller, it can occur an bad results from disturbance or load variations. So in order to adjust above case, we used the fuzzy compensator to get an expected results. And the weight of main neural network can be changed with the result of loaming a inverse model neural network of Plant, so a expected dynamic characteristics of plant can be got. As the results of simulation through the second order plant, we confirmed that the proposed speed controller get a good response compare with a neural network controller. We implemented the controller using the DSP processor and applied in a hydraulic servo system. And then we observed an experimental results.

A Study of FEED Verification process of Small Utility Equipment in Offshore plant (해양플랜트 소형 유틸리티장비의 FEED 검증 프로세스에 대한 연구)

  • This paper is a study on FEED validation model that can be used in the bidding stage of small utility equipment in offshore plant industry using system engineering technique. Currently, domestic marine plant equipment industry companies are faced with the financial risk of project execution as they enter marine plant. The major cause was the insufficient ability to verify the FEED output from the contractor (Engineering or Procurement and Construction) of the equipment manufacturer (COMPANY or EPC). Therefore, we propose FEED design verification method that simplifies the system engineering method that sequentially applies requirements analysis, function, performance analysis and physical architecture building process. Also, we verified the suitability of the developed model by comparing the results of applying the developed FEED verification model and the verification method that depends on the existing experience for the small utility equipment (Air Compressor).

Prediction of Maneuverability of a Submarine at Surface Condition by Captive Model Test (구속모형시험을 통한 잠수함 선형의 수상 조건 조종성능 추정 연구)

  • In this paper, the results of Planar Motion Mechanism (PMM) test for a 1/15 scaled model of the MARIN Joubert BB2 submarine is dealt with to derive the maneuvering coefficients for surface condition. For the depth of surface navigation, the top of the sail was exposed 0.46 m above the water surface in the model scale, and it corresponds to 6.9 m in the full scale. The resistance and self-propulsion tests were conducted, and the model's self-propulsion point was obtained for 1.328 m/s, which corresponded to 10 knots in the full scale. The maneuvering tests were performed at the model's self-propulsion point, and the maneuvering coefficients were obtained. Based on the maneuvering coefficients, a turning simulation was performed for starboard 30 degree of stern fins. The straight-line stability and control effectiveness in the horizontal plane were analyzed using the maneuvering coefficients and compared with the appropriate range. For the analysis of the neutral fin angle of the X-type stern fin, the stern fin test with drift angles was carried out. As a result, the flow straightening effect at lower and upper parts of the stern fin was discussed.

  • In this paper, we analyzed underwater multiple sensors acoustic communication technologies for monitoring and control of offshore plants in underwater environments. Information on underwater structure of offshore plants is transmitted and received by multiple sensors at the same time. Using multiple sensors with same frequency, we employed spread spectrum techniques to avoid interferences between these multiple sensors. Owing to the multi-path characteristic in underwater communications, the performance is degraded. In order to improve the performance of underwater multiple sensors communication, we proposed turbo equalized RAKE receiver structures. Assuming that the number of sensors is fixed to three, we conformed the effectiveness of the proposed method as compared to the conventional one.

  • A Leg Mating Unit (LMU) is a device utilized during the float-over installation of offshore structures that include hyperelastic pads and mating part. The hyperelastic pads absorb the loads, whereas the mating part works as guidance between topside and supporting structures during the mating sequence of float-over installation. In this study, the design optimization of an LMU for the float-over installation of floating-type offshore structures is conducted to enhance the performance and to satisfy the requirements defined by classification society regulations. The initial dimensions of the LMU are referred to the dimensions of those used in fixed-type float-over installation because only the location and the number of LMUs are known. The two-parameter Mooney-Rivlin model is adopted to describe the hyperelastic pads under given material parameters. Geometric variables, such as the thickness, height, and width of members, as well as configuration variables, such as the angle and number of members, are defined as design variables and are parameterized. A sampling-based design sensitivity analysis based on latin hypercube sampling method is performed to filter the important design variables. The design optimization problem is formulated to minimize the total mass of the LMU under maximum von Mises stress and reaction force constraints.

  • At the contract for power plant construction, the penalty appropriation on performance decrease is signed between ordering organization and construction firm. In this, the penalty cost signed must be reasonable value that both of ordering organization and construction firm can accept, therefore the methodology for penalty appropriation is very important. Cogeneration is a system that produces electricity and heat at the same time, therefore the penalty appropriation for cogeneration should be uncertain. Thermoeconomics analyzes various energy costs, however the relation of thermoeconomics and penalty cost may not be analyzed up to now. The aim of this study demonstrates that thermoeconomics can be applied to the penalty appropriation at the performance acceptance test. As the result of CGAM system, if the construction cost is $10,000,000, the value of $6,665,688 was appropriated to the electricity production performance and the value of $3,334,312 was appropriated to the heat production performance. Therefore if one percentage at the electricity production performance decreases, the penalty is $6,666, and one percentage at the heat production performance decrease, we can understand that the penalty is $3,334.
