A color compensation method for a projector considering non-flatness of color screen and mean lightness of the projected image (유색 스크린의 굴곡과 영상의 평균밝기를 고려한 프로젝터용 색 보정 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm both geometric correction using a grid point image and radiometric adaptive projection that dependent upon the luminance of the input image and that of the background. This method projects and captures the grid point image then calculates the geometrically corrected position by difference between the two images. Next, to compensate color, a corrected image is calculated by the ratio divided luminance of an input image by luminance of arbitrary surface. In addition, we found the scaling factor which controls the contrast to avoid clipping error. At this time, the scaling factor is dependent on mean image lightness when background is determined. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves good performance and is able to reduce the perceived color clipping and artifacts, better approximating the projection on a white screen.

  • 구조광을 이용하는 깊이 정보 획득 방법에서 코드화된 패턴의 색상 정보는 촬영된 영상으로부터 패턴을 해석하여 패턴의 위상 변화량으로부터 물체의 깊이 정보를 찾기 위함으로 구조광 패턴들이 대상에 정확하게 투영되는 것이 중요하다. 그러나 프로젝터의 특성에 따라 패턴의 RGB 채널들이 종종 좌표에서 어긋나는 현상이 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 프로젝터의 특성에 따른 컬러 구조광의 캘리브레이션을 위한 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 시변화 가시구조광 시스템의 캘리브레이션 과정 중에서 투사된 영상으로부터 RGB 패턴 채널을 추출하고, 추출된 패턴으로부터 각 RGB 채널에 대한 히스토그램을 통하여 패턴 채널이 어느 방향으로 번져 나갔는지를 파악하여 원 패턴에 대한 재정렬을 수행한다. 본 논문의 실험결과에 따르면, 기존의 방법에 비해 간단한 방법으로 가시구조광 패턴에 대한 캘리브레션을 수행할 수 있음을 보여준다.

Color Correction for Projected Image on Light Colored Screen using a Still Camera (카메라를 사용한 유색 스크린에 투영된 영상의 색 보정 기법)

  • Recently, the use of portable projector expands applications to meeting at fields. Accordingly, the projection is not always guaranteed on white screen, causing some color distortion. Several algorithms have been suggested to correct the projected color on the light colored screen. These have limitation on the use of measurement equipment which can't bring always. In this paper, color correction method using general still camera as convenient measurement equipment is proposed to match the colors between on white and colored screens. A patch containing 9 ramps of each channel are firstly projected on white and colored screens, then captured by the camera, respectively, Next, digital values are obtained by the captured image for each ramp patch on both screens, resulting in different values to the same patch. After that, we check which ramp patch on colored screen has the same digital value on white screen, repeating this procedure for all ramp patches. The difference between corresponding ramp patches reveals the quantity of color shift. Then, color correction matrix is obtained by regression method using matched values. In the experimental results, the proposed method gives better color correction on the objective and subjective evaluation than the previous methods.

Eliminating Color Mixing of Projector-Camera System for Fast Radiometric Compensation (컬러 보정의 고속화를 위한 프로젝터-카메라 시스템의 컬러 혼합 성분 제거)

  • The quality of projector output image is influenced by the surrounding conditions such as the shape and color of screen, and environmental light. Therefore, techniques that ensure desirable image quality, regardless of such surrounding conditions, have been in demand and are being steadily developed. Among the techniques, radiometric compensation is a representative one. In general, radiometric compensation is achieved by measuring the color of the screen and environmental light based on an analysis of camera image of projector output image and then adjusting the color of projector input image in a pixel-wise manner. This process is not time-consuming for small sizes of images but the speed of the process drops linearly with respect to image size. In large sizes of images, therefore, reducing the time required for performing the process becomes a critical problem. Therefore, this paper proposes a fast radiometric compensation method. The method uses color filters for eliminating the color mixing between projector and camera because the speed of radiometric compensation depends mainly on measuring color mixing between projector and camera. By using color filters, there is no need to measure the color mixing. Through experiments, the proposed method improved the compensation speed by 44 percent while maintaining the projector output image quality. This method is expected to be a key technique for widespread use of projectors for large-scale and high-quality display.

  • Immersive virtual reality has been used in areas of oil and gas exploration for visualization and analysis of various spatial data, such as wireline logs, 3-dimensional seismic data volume, formational boundaries, fault, and some other reservoir characteristics. Although virtual reality is a valuable tool in this area, in most cases, it requires a large budget. This paper describes the construction of a single screen, passive stereo, virtual reality, display system based on commodity, or otherwise, low-cost components. The core elements of the system are a PC with a two-channel 3-D graphics, two projects, and a polarized stereo. There are many options available for the major elements of such a system, and the basic system can be modified or adapted to many different styles of use.

  • Intelligent projection system indicates a system that displays desired images on an arbitrary screen in an arbitrary environment using projector without noticeable image distortion. In recent years, projectors have become widespread and ubiquitous due to their increasing capabilities and declining cost. Moreover, the size of projectors is getting smaller and handhold projectors are emerging. Thanks to these advances, the demand for intelligent projection system has been significantly increased and the demand has led to remarkable progress of the related techniques or technologies to intelligent projection system However, there are still some environments (or conditions, mainly dynamic ones) that intelligent projections systems cannot handle and they have limited the application area of intelligent projection systems. This paper exemplifies such environments (e.g. specular screen, dynamic screen) and propose effective solutions (i.e. multiple overlapping projectors, complementary pattern embedding) for thor And the usefulness of the solutions is verified through experimental results and user evaluation. Notice that the environments are considered not simultaneously but independently because it is impossible to consider them simultaneously by simply combining the solutions for each. Acually, a totally different solution would be necessary to consider them simultaneously. Therefore, we expect that the proposed methods would largely extend the application area of intelligent projection systems except for severely arbitrary environment.

사파이어 단결정 기판의 EPD 측정 및 신뢰성 연구

  • 사파이어는 우수한 광학적, 물리적, 화학적 특성을 가지고 있는 물질 중의 하나이며, 청색 발광특성을 나타내는 GaN와 격자상수, 열팽창 계수가 가장 유사할 뿐만 아니라 가격도 상대적으로 저렴하여 GaN 성장을 위한 기판으로 사용된다. 실제로 사파이어는 프로젝터와 전자파장치, 군사용 장비 등 다양한 분야에 응용되고 있으며, 발광 다이오드(LED)를 위한 기판으로 활용됨으로써 그 수요가 급격히 증가하고 있다. 그러나 사파이어 결정의 성장 중에 생길 수 있는 전위(dislocation)와 적층결함(stacking fault) 등의 결정 결함들은 결정 내에 존재하여 역학적, 전기적 성질에 큰 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 특히 사파이어가 청색 발광소자의 기판으로 사용되는 경우, 사파이어 기판 내부의 결정 결함은 증착되는 박막 특성에 영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 사파이어의 보다 나은 응용을 위해서는 결함의 형성 메커니즘과 결정 결함의 평가기술 등에 대한 이해가 필요하고, 특히 결함의 정량적 평가 기술의 개발은 사파이어의 상용화에 중요한 핵심요소 중 하나이다. 결정 내 결함이 위치하는 부분은 분자나 원자간의 결합이 약하거나 높은 에너지 상태이므로, 결정의 표면을 적절한 산이나 염기 등을 이용하여 에칭하면 에칭반응은 결정의 전위 위치에 해당하는 부분부터 일어나 결정의 표면에 에치핏을 형성한다. 따라서 결정 표면에 나타나는 에치핏의 개수를 관찰하면 결정의 전위 밀도 파악이 비교적 간단하고, 에칭반응의 이러한 특징은 전위의 정량적 평가에 이용이 가능하다. 본 연구는 4인치 사파이어 조각기판을 수산화칼륨(KOH)으로 습식에칭 후 표면에 나타나는 에치핏의 형성거동과 이의 시간 및 온도 의존성에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 또한 단결정의 전위밀도를 예측하기 위해 사파이어 조각시편의 단위면적당 에치핏의 개수를 파악하여 에치핏밀도(EPD, etch pid density)를 계산하였고, 값의 불확도(uncertainty)를 계산하여 전위밀도의 신뢰도를 평가하였다. 그 결과, 사파이어 조각시편의 에치핏밀도는 단위면적($cm^2$)당 약 ${\sim}10^2$개로 확인되었고, 이 값은 약 2%의 상대불확도를 가지는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Contemporary 21st century, the rapid development of technology has achieved due to the emergence of various digital devices, a variety of media to the diversification of the limits of visual representation is reduced. Therefore, the combination of technology and art, visual arts, giving limits of getting it free to the public will feel fresh new visual impact. Such a new approach to light of a combination of technology and art, a variety of fine art and motion picture of the visual arts, such as has been recognized as a new genre. Of the resolution of the projector by utilizing the current reality and unreality beyond the boundaries of the building or structure in the city, as a schematic design of the screen projected structure and mapping of the art technology in an attempt to integrate recent has been studied in various ways. The projected structure design and the mapping of the art technology in an attempt to incorporate recent research has been diverse. In this study, as a new technology of a projection mapping to study the technique of looking for the definition of mapping practices to maximize the effectiveness of Visual Perception 3D animation was applied to a case study. A combination of 3D animation and project mapping in the future the fusion of art and technology to meet the zeitgeist with new possibilities of visual art to create synergies that is expected.
