  • Though various studies have analyzed the impact of physically being in the forest, consideration of the time factors is omitted in many of them. Since space and time mutually affect each other, the effects that resulted by the space factor can change when the time factor is introduced. In this paper, the focus was made on how the time spent in the forest influences the four resulting factors: live experiences, flow experiences, health perception and inner psychological perception. This research is based on the surveys taken from April to October, 2014. The focus of the questionnaire was to measure 'Live Experience (LE)', 'Flow (FL)', 'Health Perception (HP)' and 'Inner Psychological Perception (IPP)' levels among the participants. The respondents of the survey aged between 40 and 70, participating in Forest or ecological courses, living in the Northern area of Chungchungnam-do province of Korea. Additionally their past experiences ranged from as little as one year to as long as twenty years in forest related fields. It will be shown that the time spent in the forest affects the levels of LE, FL, HP, IPP, increasing them in proportion to the time with statistical significance. This result would be useful not only for those who are in charge of creating forest healing programs but also for people who study forest healing. Because the time spent in the forest influences the levels of LE, FL, HP, IPP, the forest healing programs will benefit by taking this result into consideration.

  • In this paper, the effect of artificial intelligence convergence education program that provides STEAM education using machine learning platform on elementary school students' STEAM literacy and learning flow was analyzed. A homogeneous group of 44 elementary school 6th graders was divided into an experimental group and a control group. The control group received 10 lessons of general subject convergence class, and the experimental group received 10 lessons of STEAM-based artificial intelligence convergence education using Machine learning for Kids. To develop the artificial intelligence convergence education program, the goals, achievement standards, and content elements of the 2015 revised curriculum to select subjects and class contents is analyzed. As a result of the STEAM literacy test and the learning flow test, there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. In particular, it can be confirmed that the coding environment in which the artificial intelligence function is expanded has a positive effect on learners' learning flow and STEAM literacy. Among the sub-elements of convergence talent literacy, significant differences were found in the areas of personal competence such as convergence and creativity. Among the sub-elements of learning flow, significant differences were found in the areas such as harmony of challenge and ability, clear goals, focus on tasks, and self-purposed experiences. If further expanded research is conducted in the future, it will be a basic research for more effective education for the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate various types of 'flow' that can be observed in the daily lives of science-gifted students, and the correlation between 'flow' and creativity. For two months, we have gathered data on 'flow' in the main activities of science-gifted students through a qualitative application of the Experience Sampling Method (ESM). We then use correlation analysis to determine whether there have been correlations between 'flow' and creativity. Among the four channels, activities involving 'flow' have been the most common (40.4%) in the daily lives of the students. The types of tasks done by the students are, in descending order of frequency, productive activities, social activities, leisure activities, and basic activities. The students have shown the least interest in tasks that do not require specific skills or pose significant challenges; thus the least interest show in basic activities and the most interest has been shown in productive activities. 'Flow' and creativity are significantly correlated at the level of 0.01, which means that the more the students experience 'flow,' the more they express creativity. Based on the results above, we have found that there is a need for the development of science programs or environments, including productivity while at the same time, to reduce uneasiness and patience raising activities, where students can experience more 'flow' in daily life.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of reading activity of employees in public libraries on their job satisfaction and organizational commitment which was suggested by previous studies proving the relationship among the variables in the business area. The results from the survey indicate that there were significant differences in job satisfaction, satisfaction with human relationship, satisfaction of self-realization, affective commitment, and continuance commitment in terms of the frequency of participation in a book club. Additionally, the number of employees' reading books and hours spent for reading significantly influenced their job satisfaction and the hours spent for reading significantly influenced affective commitment. It was also found that participation continuity for a book club influenced on satisfaction level of social recognition, continuance commitment, and normative commitment. Job satisfaction level had a complete mediation effect between reading hours and affective commitment, and satisfaction from social recognition had a complete mediation effect between participation continuity in a reading meeting, continuance commitment, and normative commitment. Based on these results, this study suggests a plan for constructing a good environment for employees to read through introducing a reading management as follows. Firstly, managers of public libraries need to take an active interest in reading management and various programs to encourage employees to read need to be provided. Secondly, public libraries are required to encourage their employees' participation in book clubs and support them, so that the employees are able to participate in the book club consistently. Finally, institution-level consistent motivation is needed for an active reading activity.

  • Although there have been continued researches on the effect of fatigue among organization members on organizations, there has been an absence of studies on sub-factors of organizational commitment using Saito(1999)'s whole questionnaire. Therefore, this study aimed to measure the level of fatigue among police officers and empirically examine the effect of fatigue on organizational commitment. Based on the previous studies, fatigue(mental fatigue and physical fatigue) of police officers and physical disharmony were selected as independent variables, and organizational commitment(affective commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment) was selected as a dependent variable. The meanings and the implications of this study are as follows. First, from a theoretical perspective, this study has significance as the first study, which used Saito(1999)'s whole scale and examined the relationship between sub-variables of organizational commitment in a police organization. This study also confirms the importance of fatigue management for organization managers. Second, from a perspective of organization management, this study implies that effort should be made to measure fatigue of police officers, who have 5 to 10 years of service and work as Senior patrol and sergeants and manage it actively on an organizational level, and there is a need to develop a training program for improving their attitudes towards organizations.
