  • 본 논문에서는 온톨로지의 범주를 재분류하는 방안을 모색하였다. 재분류 방법으로는 범주정보 단순화와 구체화를 고안하였다. 각각은 다시 표제정보와 참조정보를 이용한 방법으로 나누어 생각하였다. 또한 상이한 범주집합들 사이의 관계를 밝히는 방법도 모색하였다. 마지막으로 이러한 방법들을 활용한 예를 동해 그 유용성을 살펴보았다.

  • We investigated how useful video tags were in summarizing video speech and how valuable positional information was for speech summarization. Furthermore, we examined the similarity among sentences selected for a speech summary to reduce its redundancy. Based on such analysis results, we then designed and evaluated a method for automatically summarizing speech transcripts using a modified Maximum Marginal Relevance model. This model did not only reduce redundancy but it also enabled the use of social tags, title words, and sentence positional information. Finally, we compared the proposed method to the Extractor system in which key sentences of a video speech were chosen using the frequency and location information of speech content words. Results showed that the precision and recall rates of the proposed method were higher than those of the Extractor system, although there was no significant difference in the recall rates.

  • This study examined the relative retrieval effectiveness after relevance feedback between two systems (Title/Abstract and Full-text) using four different sets of relevance judgment. Four relevance levels (not relevant, marginally relevant, relevant, highly relevant) are also used, each of which is determined by referees giving a relevance score to documents. This study also investigated how much the average precision was improved after relevance feedback when "marginally relevant" documents are included in the relevant class with the Title/Abstract system, and with the Full-text retrieval system as well. It is found that the Title/Abstract system benefited from relevance feedback with the marginally relevant documents. In case of the Title/Abstract system, the higher percentage of improvement was consistently obtained when including the marginally relevant documents in the relevance class, however the result was vice versa in case of the Full-text retrieval system. It implied that the marginally relevant documents in the relevant class had caused noises in the Full-text retrieval system.

  • This study was to suggest the directions of and the choice of the authorized access points for Korean Cataloging Rules, based on the trends of the international cataloging and the need of rules for the authorized access points in KCR. The Literature review, the case study, and the interviewing were used as the research methods. In the literature review, the Authorized access points were reviewed in FRBR conceptual model, International cataloging Principle 2009, and Resource Description and Access. VIAF authorized access points were analyzed as case study. Last interview was executed with the representative librarians in 4 University libraries. Through these surveys, new directions and rules of the authorized access points for KCR were suggested. This study could contributed to construct work and expression authorized access points of FRBR, and to set up the selection rules of the authorized access points for KCR.

  • This study is to suggest the considerations in constructing BIBFRAME by analyzing change feature of BIBFRAME 2.0 under recognizing the needs of the detailed methods for BIBFRAME construction in Korea through literature review as research methods. First, it is to add or to describe expression level as the core entity in BIBFRAME 2.0. Second, it is to extend classes and properties as BIBFRAME vocabulary to reflect the RDA elements by testing the various materials. Third, preferred title and preferred name is to be described in BIBFRAME and Korean Cataloging Rules related to authorized access point is to be regulated. This study could contribute to develop BIBFRAME development and revision under revising BIBFRAME vocabularies ongoing.

Colophon functioned as an information source when cataloging in a library, an area concerning the copyright and as an useful information to readers. The publication of a new book has begun since early 1900s in Korea. And the element of the colophon is dependent on changes in the social and cultural environment. Among the element of the colophon early 1900s until now, the elements consistently appear on the title and the author, a place of publication, a publisher, the date of publication and the price. Additional the elements according to the change of social environment are the edition, ISBN, the registration of publisher, the address of publisher and an author career. On the other hand, omitted elements are the address of author, the account number and the seal. In the future, the size of the book is additionally wanted to describe in the colophon.

  • There are various application areas of Language information processing such as information retrieval, morphological analysis, spell checker, voice recognition, character recognition, etc. In these language information processing areas, an electronic dictionary is essential. This thesis made researches on basic statistical information on the Korean dictionary and on the construction of electronic dictionary. The targets of analysis were the number of registered word in Korea dictionary, the entry number of registered word in electronic dictionary, the number of used syllables, the number of different syllables, the average length of entry, the distribution of part of speech and the number of used nodes to construct electronic dictionary using Trie, except for words including a archaic word or incomplete syllables. Total entry number of electronic dictionary is 361,980, the number of used syllables is 1,289,659, the average length of entries is 3.56 and the number of different syllables is 2,463. Theses informations would play a beneficial role in constructing an electronic dictionary and in processing Korean information.

  • The aims of this study were to provide a global overview of research trends in information science and to trace its changes in the main research topics over time using trends analysis. The study examined the topics of research articles published in Journal of Korean Society for Information Management between 1984 and 2009. Rather than taking a single snapshot of a given point in time, this study attempted to present a series of such pictures in order to identify trends over time. The fairly arbitrary decision was taken to divide the period under consideration into three 'publication windows': 1984-1994, 1995-2002, 2003-2009. The study revealed that the most productive areas were 'Information Service', followed by 'Information Organization', and 'Information System'. The most productive sub-areas were 'Library Service', 'User Study', 'Automatic Document Analysis', 'ILS', 'Thesaurus/Ontology', and 'Digital Library'. From the comparisons of intellectual structures of title keywords, the key research area in the field of Information Science was 'Information Retrieval'. The studies of IT applications and service system evaluation have been expanded.
