Fundamental Study on Heat Transfer Enhancement Effect of Microscale Surface Wrinkles (마이크로 표면주름 형상에 따른 열전달 촉진효과 기초연구)

  • We evaluated heat transfer characteristics of microscale wrinkles using a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis. In order to verify the heat transfer effect of wrinkles having various shapes, we introduce wrinkling processes to generate few different shapes of wrinkles such as macroscale ($200{\sim}400{\mu}m$ width), microscale ($10{\sim}30{\mu}m$ width), and hierarchical (microscale on macroscale wrinkle) wrinkles, using repetitive-dividing-volume (RDV) method for single-shape of wrinkles and connected method of UV-weakly polymerization with thermal curing for hierarchical structure of winkles. The analysis results of simplified CFD model showed that heat flux on heated plate was changed by the shape of wrinkles on the plate. The increase in heat flux of about 2.6 times was achieved in the case where hierarchical wrinkle structure was used.

Characterization and Taxonomic Classification of S85, a new Microsporidia, isolated from the Silkworm, Bombyx mori L. (가잠에서 분리된 새로운 미포자충(S85)의 특성 및 분류학적 위치(1) - 포자의 미세구조 -)

  • A new microsporidia (S85) was isolated from the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. in Suwon, Korea in 1985. The electron microscopic observation of the fine structure of the spore was studied for the characterization of the new microsporidia and its taxonomic position. The sporewall was composed of three different electron dense layers and the spore surface was rouph and wrinkled. The polaroplast has two parts which differed in the arrangement of the lamellae. The polarfilament was isofilar with thirteen coils and it was consisted of eight concentric layers of different electron density. The spore contained a single nucleus and the pansporoblast appeared as a thin ballon-like structure surrounding the spore. The membrane was generally smooth and shown occationally wrinkled.

  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging method that utilizes the optical scattering and interference for visualizing the surface as well as cross-sectional structures of tissue. OCT has been used for diagnosing diseases in early stage in various medical fields, but an application in cosmetics is still at early stage. In this study, OCT was adopted to evaluate skin texture and wrinkle. Results showed similar patterns of evaluation with PRIMOS in the assessment using replica. In addition, OCT produced smaller errors at different angles compared to the PRIMOS in the assessment using 3-dimensional models of wrinkles. The resolution of the image was also high enough to differentiate the images of before and after the application of makeup products. Possible use of OCT in the evaluation of fine wrinkle assessment was studied in this research. Further development of methods is necessary to provide more evidences of the effectiveness.

Effect of Epidermal Changes in the Mice Skin Following Glycolic Acid Peeling (글리콜산을 사용한 화학적 필링이 Mice 피부 표피에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we applied 15% glycolic acid peeling agent and 30% glycolic acid peeling agent to the dorsal skin of mice and analyzed the oil content, moisture content, and pH value of the skin before and after test using cutometer. Ultrastructure for changes in the epidermis of mice were observed under a dermoscope and a scanning electron microscope before and after test. When using 15% glycolic acid peeling agent, the changes of moisture content was measured 74.67 AU for the normal control group and 70.21 AU for the experimental group, the oil content was 13.49 mg/$cm^2$ for the normal control group before test and 8.25 mg/$cm^2$ after test, and the pH value was 6.70 and 5.36 before and after test, respectively. When using 30% glycolic acid peeling agent, the moisture content was measured 74.46 AU for the normal control group before test and 53.50 AU for the experimental group after test, the oil content was 13.82mg/$cm^2$ and 5.70 mg/$cm^2$ before and after test, and the pH value was 6.45 and 4.58 before and after test, respectively. As such, it was found that the changes of moisture and oil content on the skin rely on the concentration of peeling agent and the degree of exfoliation of keratin. The surface of stratum corneum of mice with application of 15% glycolic acid peeling agent was relatively smooth and the exposed cellular surface of keratinocyte had some wrinkles. The surface of stratum corneum of mice with application of 30% glycolic acid peeling agent was smooth. No wrinkles were observed under high-resolution scanning electron microscope.

  • 디스플레이, 센서 등 전자소자는 소형화 단계를 지나 인체 부착형 소자로의 발전을 요구하고 있다. 부착형 소자에서는 접착력과 큰 마찰력이 필요하지만 마찰특성이 더 중요하므로 인체 및 물체의 마찰을 위해서는 다양한 표면에 대항하는 마찰 특성과 내구성이 요구되며 이를 위해 개코도마뱀 또는 딱정벌레, 말벌날개와 같은 자연모사형 건식 마찰 방식에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존 폴리머를 이용하여 자연모사형 마이크로/나노 구조 형성은 기계적으로 가공된 금형 몰딩을 통한 매무 복잡한 공정을 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 복잡한 공정을 통한 마찰재 제작을 단순화하기 위해서 플라즈마 표면처리를 활용하여 나노구조 형성하는 방법을 소개하고자 하며, 건식 접착 및 마찰용 폴리머 소재(PDMS(Poly dimethyl siloxane))에 따른 표면구조 변화와 표면에너지 및 화학결합 변화에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 플라즈마 표면처리를 위해서 자체 개발한 선형이온소스를 활용하였으며 입사에너지에 따라 표면형상 변화를 주사전자현미경을 활용하여 관찰하였다. 표면에너지 변화는 접촉각측정기를 활용하였으며, Tribology tester(Ball on disk)를 활용하여 마찰특성을 평가하였다. PDMS(Poly dimethyl siloxane)는 입사에너지가 증가함에 따라 주름형태 구조 크기가 증가하는 것을 관찰하였고, 플라즈마 처리를 통해 표면에너지 및 마찰력 증가를 관찰하였다. 그리고 플라즈마 처리 후 표면에너지 변화인 FOTS(Trichloro-(1H,1H,2H,2H- perfluorooctyl) silane) 처리를 통하여 표면에너지 감소와 마찰력이 절반으로 감소하였다. 본 연구 결과는 나노구조에 따라 표면형상 및 표면에너지 변화에 따른 PDMS의 마찰력 변화를 확인하였고, 이러한 특성을 활용하여 마찰재와 피부 부착형 접착 패치에 응용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

Silhouette Denoising for the Stone Cultural Heritages (석탑 문화재의 실루엣 추출을 위한 노이즈 제거)

  • This paper proposes a denoising method for the contour edges and crease edges of silhouette obtained from 3D scanned data of stone cultural heritages. It is often the case that the silhouette involves noise in the form of short-length line segments, due to rough surfaces of stone cultural heritages, weathering, and technical difficulties arising in data acquisition. Thus the removal of the short-length line segments from the contour edges and crease edges can result in a clear and accurate silhouette. An efficient computational algorithm is introduced to count the continuity of line segments; edges having not more than 3 line segments are removed. It has been verified that the new method is more effective than threshold-based silhouette extraction methods for stone heritages. Our method is applicable for various other data which are deteriorated by short-length line segments.

Fabrication of Microscale Wrinkles on a Curved Surface Using Weak-Polymerization and Thermal Curing Process (약한 광중합과 열경화를 이용한 곡면 미세 표면주름 제작)

  • In this study, we proposed an effective and simple way to directly generate wrinkle patterns on a curved surface. A curved surface was prepared using a 3D printer and an UV (Ultraviolet)-lighting system was utilized to weakly polymerize the UV-curable thin resin layer coated on the surface, resulting in a gradient of material properties in the layer thickness. Subsequently, a thermal curing process was conducted to generate microscale wrinkles by compressive forces that were generated during complete curing. Wrinkle shapes from 5, 15, 25 sec of UV-light exposure were compared. With increasing UV-exposure, the line-width of wrinkles became thicker due to much higher strength of skin zone. The results indicated that the proposed fabrication process could be utilized for surface modification in diverse research fields.

Automated Silhouette Extraction Method for Generating a Blueprint from 3D Scan Data of Cultural Asset (문화재의 3D 스캔 데이터로부터 도면을 생성하기 위한 자동화된 실루엣 추출 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose an automated silhouette extraction method that can effectively extract inner-patterns and silhouettes from 3D scan data of cultural asset. First of all, after creating the edge list of 3D vector data, we decide contour edge and crease edge according to viewpoint. In the next step, after extracting surface silhouette by investigating the vector variation of adjacent faces in crease edge, we finally extract the contour silhouette and surface silhouette for generating the blueprint of cultural asset. To evaluate the performance of the proposed silhouette extraction method, we performed experiments of silhouette extraction using a traditional tile model, a car model and a stone monument model. Comparing with the conventional threshold-based silhouette extraction method, the proposed method extracted more distinct and clear surface silhouettes and inner-patterns by effectively removing meaningless edges, such as noise.

  • 송전선이나 전기기기의 나선(裸線)부분을 절연하고 동시에 기계적으로 유지 또는 지지하기 위한 절연체와 이것과 일체로 조립된 금구류로 구성된 절연지지물인 애자는 전기적으로 충분한 절연내력을 가지게 하기 위하여 다수의 주름을 만들어 표면에 따른 거리를 크게 한다. 이는 표면이 습하였을 때, 염분이나 먼지 등이 부착하였을 때 절연내력이 저하되는 것을 방지하는 데 효과가 있다. 그리고 재질별(세라믹, 유리, 합성수지 등), 모양별(원판형, 원주형, 중공, 갓형 등), 용도별(전차 선로용, 발전소 또는 변전소용, 통신 선로용 등) 및 사용방법(현수용, 내장용, 인류용, 고정용 등)에 따라 다양하게 분류된다. 본 논문에서는 복합 애자류(composite insulators)의 여러 가지 성능평가 시험방법 중에서 복합 애자의 여러 계면과 연결 금구의 접속부(interfaces and connections of end fittings)에 대한 이상 유무를 확인하는 시험인 수분침투시험평가기술에 대해 고찰하였다.
