  • The growth and yield of ever-bearing strawberry $(Fragaria{\times}ananassa\; Duch.)$ 'Pechika' were compared after transplant treatment in the raised hydroponic culture on highlands in summer season. The transplant production methods compared were whole plant refrigerated, outdoor over-wintered, pot-refrigerated, and 1 -year-old transplants. Growth increment at planting was the highest in pot-refrigerated transplants. C/N ratio of the pot-refrigerated transplants was 39.2 which was higher than 19.5 of 1-year-old transplants. However, the growth increment up to the first harvest were not different among the treatments. The first harvesting date of 1-year-old transplants was August 14, which was 5-9 days late than in the other treatments. The average fruit weight was highest in the 1-year-old transplants with 12.6 g. Marketable yield was the highest in the pot-refrigerated transplants, followed 1-year-old, plant refrigerated, and outdoor over-wintered transplants. Therefore, the pot-refrigerated transplants are recommended for marketable yield increase in ever-bearing strawberry cultured on highlands.

  • This study was performed to investigate the adequate standard pot and number of plants per tree of raising seeding pot on the foxtail millet transplanting culture in the southern province. Due to the various application of wellbeing-health food recently, for upbringing of the foxtail millet, millet and sorghum in minor cereals, R & D and policy support is being promoted actively. The foxtail millet growing season is so short from 90 to 130 days, and it is large variations for a growth temperature. The main results are as follows. When it comes to foxtail millet transplantation, seedling quality of 406 holes, 200 holes and 162 holes of raising seeding pot type were not all significant, and field rooting percentage is accounted for all 94 to 95%. Yield of a foxtail millet was exposed in 406holes 305 kg/10a>162holes 303 kg> 200holes 302 kg order, and it was no significance between test processing. When it's the raising seeding transplanting culture, in case of pot culture, 406holes pot culture were reduced the bed soil cost 63%, pot 50%, working hours 18% for 200holes pot. Transplanting seedling quality per a foxtail millet transplanting culture method, dry weight was high inclination as transplanting number of plant is less, and field rooting percentage displayed more than all 95%. Yield appeared to 2 plants seedling transplanting 315kg/10a> 3 plants seedling transplanting 304kg>1 plant seedling transplanting 256kg order. The projected cost per the pot-sort on the raising seeding transplanting culture of foxtail millet, the seedling transplanting culture of 406holes was reduced 40% percentages compared to 200holes as 76,230won/10a. As a result, 406holes pot and 2plants seedling transplanting culture, labor-saving culture was possible.

  • Tn establish the criteria for appropriate seedling production method in the summer, the effect of container size and seedling age on the growth and yield were evaluated with tomato. The seedling quality was higher when seedlings were grown polyethylene in 9cm pots than in 72 cell plugs. Seedling quality increased with increase in seedling age in polyethylene pots, whereas seedling age did not affect seedling quality in plug trays. Fruits matured earlier on plants started from pot-grown transplants for a long duration than with plug tray-grown transplants for a shorter duration. Not only total yield in 4 months, but the early yield in the first 2 months, was higher with pot-nursed transplants than with plug tray-nursed transplants. With pot-grown transplants, The early yield in initial 2 months was the lowest in 25 day-old transplants, whereas there was no significant differences between 35- and 45-day-old transplants. Seedling age did not affect the cumulative yield for 3 months after the first harvest. With plug tray-grown transplants, the cumulative yield tar initial 3 months was the highest in plants grown for 35 days in the nursery, followed by 25 day and 45 day. However, there were no significant differences among seedling ages in the total yield.

  • The bio-degradable transplanting pot containing rice by-product (rice-hull and rice-bran) were developed, and tested their ability for agronomic use. Rice by-products were crosslinked with biodegradable aliphatic ally aromatic copolyesters or urea resin for making transplanting pot. Mechanical properties and degradability of these pots were measured and compared to those of the Jiffy pot (commercially used bio-degradable pot). Mechanical strength was higher than that of Jippy pot, and bio-degradability was excellent under the actual field condition. In addition, the pot could be degraded within 3 months under the ground. Our result indicated bio-degradable pot containing rice by-products has a great potential for such agronomic use.

  • The object of this study was to investigate nitrogen fixation activity of rhizobium inoculated at seed coat when drought condition was applied in flowering period of soybean c.v. Samnamkong. The rhizobia used in this experiment were indigenous rhizobium, R2l4, RJl-29, USDA110 and USDA122. The experiment was done with 1/2000 Wagner pots in laboratory and greenhouse and was tested in completely randomized design with four replications. Nitrogen fixation activity in coventional culture was the highest in R2l4 and indigenous rhizobium among the five rhizobia strains. As given drought condition from flowering to maturity, nitrogen fixation activity was higher in R2l4 and RJl-29 than indigenous rhizobium. Leaf area and relative index (drought/convention) of pod weight were higher in USDA122, RJl-29 and R2l4 than indigenous rhizobium as given drought condition from flowering to maturity. High positive correlation was observed between nitrogen fixation activity of rhizobium and relative index(drought/convention) of pod weight. High negative correlation was observed between respiration of plant and relative index (drought/convention) of leaf area.

  • Fertilizer granulation test was carried out by a small pan granulator. A premixture composed of SOP 60%, urea 22% and RP powder 18% was rolled in the pan granulator while 10% phosphoric acid solution(binder) was sprayed on the rolling powder bed. Granules were developed very fast along with a little amount of binder. Hardness, brittle ratio in water and hygroscopicity of granules were improved enough to evaluate physical properties of the fertilizer. Growth responses of tobacco plant to the fertilizer were investigated at seedling and flowering stage by pot experiment under plastic film roof. Seedlings showed poor growth at nursery pot cell. In virgin soil with deficient available phosphate tobacco plant showed poor growth until budding and flowering stage but good growth in tillage soil with high cumulative phosphate.
