The Use of Geographic Information System for Conservation and Management of Mountain Landscape around City (도시주변 산의 경관보전 및 관리를 위한 GIS의 이용)

  • This study applied GIS to land planning and management to conserve moun¬tain landscape, and to prevent landslide by housing development around a mountain in a city. In a case study of Kugi & Pyungchang- Dong area of Pukhan Mt. in Seoul, the landscape elements are divided into 'natural landscape conservation, ' 'visual landscape structure, and 'landslide prevention.' These elements are analysed by GIS TIN and OVERLAY modules. land¬scape classes and land use zoning maps for landscape management were developed.

Preliminary Report of Archaeological Survey in Limestone Caves at Gangwon and GyeongBuk provinces (강원 및 경북지역의 석회암동굴 고고학조사 예보)

  • Archaeological survey has been carried out to find some evidence of human occupation in 31 caves in Pyeoungchang, Danyang, Jincheon, Goesan, Munkyoung, Boeun, Sangju in central limestone area of the Korean peninsula. Among those caves, some archaeological evidences were observed in 11 caves. Various types of potteries, animal bones and stone artifacts were collected on surface of sediments in caves. Among them, the Mosan cave in Munkyoung and the Kwangcheonseongul in Pyeoungchang are very likely to yield important archaeological remains in the well preserved deposits in the caves. Further researches are expected to provide significant information for explaining human living from prehistoric time to historical periods.

  • 2003년 12월 10일 국내에서 첫 AI 발생이후 2018년 3월 17일까지 우리는 총 11차례의 AI(조류인플루엔자) 피해를 겪었다. 정부는 매번 AI 예방 대책을 발표하고 있지만 축산농가들에게만 책임을 전가하고 가중시키는, 실효성이 전혀 없는 공염불 대책이라는 지적이다. AI 발생 때마다 실시하는 역학조사 결과는 매번 철새에 의해 국내로 유입된 바이러스가 차량이나 사람 등을 통해 농장 내로 유입된 것으로 추정만 하고 있다. 결국 AI의 정확한 발생원인 조차 명확히 밝혀내지 못하면서 해당 축산농가와 축산관련 종사자들에게 그 책임을 떠넘기고 있는 것이다. 정녕 눈에 보이지 않는 바이러스로 인한 질병 발생의 책임을 계속해서 농가가 떠안아야 하는 것일까? 2017년 평창 동계올림픽을 대비해 시범적으로 실시하였던 겨울철 오리농가 사육제한 사업이 올해로 3번째 시행을 앞두고 있다. 세계 어느 나라에서도 전례가 없는 반강제적 사육제한이 우리나라에서는 정례화되고 있는 것이다. 매년 겨울철마다 30%에 달하는 오리농가들이 사육을 제한당하면서 오리고기의 수급 불안이 가중되고 있지만 정작 피해을 입은 오리농가를 위한 정책은 전혀 없다. 97%가 계열화되어 있는 오리산업의 특성상 관련 종오리장 부화장 도축장 등으로 피해가 직결되고 있지만 이에 대한 보상대책은 전무한 것이다. AI 뒤에 남은 오리업계의 피눈물은 과연 누가 책임 질 것인가?

Relation of Intensity, Fault Plane Solutions and Fault of the January 20, 2007 Odaesan Earthquake (ML=4.8) (2007년 1월 20일 오대산 지진(ML=4.8)의 진도, 단층면해 및 단층과의 관계)

  • The Odaesan earthquake $(M_L=4.8)$ occurred near Mt. Odae, Jinbu-Myon, Pyongchang-Gun, Kangwon Province on January 20, 2007. It has a shallow focal depth about 10 km. Its felt area covers most of the southern peninsula except some southern and western inland area. The maximum MM intensity was VI in the areas including Jinbu, Doam, Kangreung, Jumunjin, and Pyongchang. In these areas, there was a very strong shaking that caused several cracks on the walls of buildings and houses, slates falling off the roof, tiles being off the wall, things falling off the desk, and rock falling from the mountains. In order to get fault plane solutions, grid searches were performed by fitting distributions of P-wave first-motion polarities and SH/P amplitude ratios for each event. The results showed that the main shock represented right-lateral strike-slip sense and two aftershocks, reverse sense. It seems that the seismogenic fault may be the NNE-SSW trending Weoljeongsa fault near the epicenter based on the distribution of epicenters (foreshock, main shock, and aftershocks), damage area, and fault plane solution. The distribution of the epicenters indicates that the length of the subsurface rupture is estimated to be about 2 km.

A Study on the Geomorphology and Activity of Jinbu Fault in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province (강원도 평창군 진부 단층의 지형 및 활동성)

  • This study shows possibility of active fault, throughout analyzing distributional features of tectonic and fluvial geomorphology and mineral composition of fault fracture clay, at Jinbu fault-line system in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province. Fault-line valley was formed remarkably in the upper reaches of Odae River and upper reaches of Yeongok River according along Jinbu fault-line. Landforms show rectilineal distribution at right shore slopes of Odae River in Ganpyeong-ri, southern zone of Jinbu fault-line system, related to the tectonic processes, such as triangular facet, kernbut, kerncol and alluvial fan. Fault fracture clay zones were developed at 5 outcrops($jbf1{\sim}5$), located in kerncol. Particularly, jbf1 fault outcrop, developed at granite saprolite, has obvious fault plane and fault clay composed of illite and laumontite. The Jinbu Fault-line along jbf4-2-3-5 may be formed by regional compressive stress, and jbf1 fault may be suggested a tributary fault of the Jinbu fault-line formed before the late Pleistocene. The vertical displacement of the east and west blocks of the Jinbu Fault-line is estimated in $0.024{\sim}0.027m/ka$.

  • KBS를 비롯한 지상파방송 3사는 실시간 UHD방송과 VOD 온라인 동영상 서비스가 결합된 세계 최초의 지상파 양방향 UHD 플랫폼인 Tiviva(이하 티비바) 서비스를 2017년 11월 오픈하였다. 티비바는 별도의 셋톱박스 없이 UHD TV에 직접수신 안테나와 인터넷을 연결하여 지상파 방송사의 실시간 방송 채널 외에 다양한 UHD VOD와 클립을 이용할 수 있고, 스포츠와 드라마, 종편(JTBC, MBN), 영화 등 50여 개의 IP채널을 추가로 볼 수 있는 서비스이다. 이후 2018년 1월에는 이용자 편리성과 자동추천 기능 등 UI/UX를 크게 개선한 티비바 2.0을 업데이트 하였고, 평창올림픽 기간에는 전 경기 실시간 스트리밍 및 올림픽특별관을 운영하였다. 2018년 6월 러시아 월드컵 기간에는 축구 경기 UHD HDR 방송 중계와 함께 티비바를 통한 HDR VOD를 최초로 서비스하여 스포츠 경기를 즐기는 또다른 즐거움을 선사하였다. 본 논문에서는 러시아 월드컵 HDR VOD 서비스를 준비하고 시행하기 위한 시스템 설계 및 진행과정, 기술 이슈 등에 대해서 기술하려고 한다.

Early Growth Characteristics of Quercus rubra Associated with Soil Physicochemical Properties and Meteorological Factors in Six Regions of South Korea (토양 물리·화학적 성질 및 기상인자에 따른 국내 6개 지역의 루브라참나무 초기 생장 특성)

  • We investigated the early growth characteristics of Quercus rubra planted in six regions (Hwaseong, Yangpyeong, Pyeongchang, Samcheok, Chungju, and Gimje) in South Korea in relation to soil physicochemical properties and meteorological factors. Q. rubra (1-0) were planted at a density of 3,000 trees ha-1. The average height, root collar diameter (RCD), and volume of 8-year-old Q. rubra planted in 2014 were 3.52 m, 3.84 cm, and 0.0023 m3, respectively. The growth parameters of Q. rubra were the highest and lowest in Hwaseong and Pyeongchang, respectively. Correlation analysis among the soil physicochemical properties, meteorological factors, and plantation growth characteristics found that pH was the only soil factor negatively correlated with RCD, and the other soil factors were not significantly correlated with the growth characteristics. However, growth characteristics were positively correlated to average temperature from March to October and daily maximum temperature; and they were negatively correlated to altitude, topology, and the number of rainy days from March to October. In particular, the trees planted in Hwaseong area showed the best early growth characteristics because this area had the highest daily maximum temperature, the x average temperature from March to October, the low altitude, and it is located close to the foot of a mountain. In Pyeongchang, the early growth characteristics were negatively affected by winter cold damage because of the high altitude, low daily minimum temperature, and damage by wild animals. In Hwaseong, meteorological factors such as temperature and altitude were more highly correlated to growth characteristics of Q. rubra than the physicochemical soil properties. These results will provide useful information for determining suitable sites for Q. rubra plantations and for predicting early growth characteristics in response to environmental factors.

  • High-maneuver missile is a projectile which demands a strong momentum at short time. To produce a necessary thrust for the flight, the gas of high temperature and pressure is generated through explosive combustion of solid propellant, and a great thrust can be obtained by expanding this high temperature and pressure gas. Although the operating time of a rocket motor is less than a few seconds, a failure of part or ablation near the throat of nozzle may take place during the expansion of high temperature and pressure gas for great thrust. In other words, for the precise control of a missile an exact stress analysis considering both, the thermal stress caused by the heat transfer between combustion gas and wall, and the mechanical stress caused by the pressure change in the flow, should be considered first. In this connection, this study investigated the safety, as a point of view of stress and melting point of the material, of the pre-designed thrust generating structure which is subjected to high temperature and pressure as a function of motor operating time.

Estimation of Roughness Coefficients in Domestic Rivers Using Observed Field Data (현장 실측 자료를 이용한 국내하천의 조도계수 산정)

  • 자연과 함께하는 하천복원 기술개발(Ecoriver21) 연구단에서 진행 중인 홍수터 수목관리 기술 개발 과제에서는 국내하천 흐름저항 산정기법을 개발하기 위해 2006년부터 2009년까지 총 27개 시험하천의 실측자료를 이용한 조도계수를 산정하였다. 2010년에는 18개 시험하천을 추가로 운영하여 최종적으로 총 45개 하천의 조도계수를 산정하고자 한다. 조도계수 계산에 필요한 자료는 모두 현장에서 직접 측정하였으며 이를 위해 넓은 범위의 수위자료를 획득할 수 있는 홍수기 이전에 수위계를 설치하였고, 유량 측정, 하천 단면 측량, 하상재료 입경분석 등을 통하여 유량 변화에 따른 조도계수 분석, 하상재료 크기별 조도계수 변화 분석, 조도계수 경년변화 분석 등의 연구를 진행하였다. 분석 결과 대부분의 하천은 유량이 증가함에 따라 조도계수가 감소하는 경향을 보였고 특정한 유량 범위에서 수렴하였다. 유량에 따른 조도계수 변화 폭은 하상재료의 입경 크기가 클수록 심하였다. 산지 거석하천인 내린천 왕성동 지점의 경우 0이 287.8 mm로 조사 지점 중 하상재료의 크기와 유량에 따른 조도계수 변화 폭, 수렴되는 조도계수 값이 가장 컸다. 하상재료 입경 크기 $D_{50}$을 기준으로 2 mm이하인 모래하천의 경우에는 유량이 증가함에 따라 조도계수가 감소하다가 고유량에서 다시 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 조도계수 경년변화를 분석한 평창강 방림 지점과 만경강 고산 지점의 결과는 비교적 큰 차이를 나타내지 않았고, 한강 본류의 배수영향을 받는 옥동천 옥동, 법천천 법천 지점의 경우 배수 상황 발생 시 다른 지점과 달리 상당히 복잡한 양상을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서는 지금까지 진행된 국내하천의 조도계수 분석 자료를 종합하여 조도계수 자료집을 발간할 계획이며, 조도계수 자료집에는 각 지점의 수위 및 유량 실측자료, 하상재료 입경 크기, 지점 특성, 사진 자료 등이 포함될 예정이다.

The Variation of Natural Populations of Pinus densiflora S. et Z. in Kangwondo - The Morphological Characteristics of Needle and Cone - (강원도 지역 소나무 천연집단의 변이에 관한 연구 - 침엽과 구과의 형태적 특성을 중심으로 -)

  • For the study on the variation of Pinus densiflora S. et Z. natural populations. 13 stands were selected in Kangwondo region in 1994. They were located in Hyoja-Dong, Chunchon-Si [plot 1]; Sinnam-Myun, lnje-Gun [plot 2]; Buk-Myun, lnje-Gun [plot 3]; Seo-Myun, Yangyang-Gun [plot 4 and 5]; Sonyang-Myun, Yangyang-Gun [plot 6]; Toseong-Myun, Goseong-Gun [plot 7]; Synrim-Myun, Wonju-Si [plot 8]; Dunnae-Myun, Hoengsong-Gun [plot 9]; Jinbu-Myun, Pyungchang-Gun [plot 10]; Sogumgang, Kangneung-Si [plot 11]; Seo-Myun, Ulchin-Gun [plot 12]; and Mitan- Myun, Pyungchang-Gun [plot 13]. The morphological characteristics of needles and cones were investigated for twenty individual trees from each population. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Among needle characteristics, length, the number of serration. and the number of stoma row were significantly different among populations and between individuals within a population. They were 69.3~91.9mm, 25.1~28.7 per 0.5cm, and 4.1~6.2 rows for abaxial side and 2.9~4.6 rows for adaxial side, respectively. 2. Among cone characters surveyed. length and diameter were significantly different among populations and between individuals within a population. They were 31.1~43.7mm and 20.0~24.1mm, respectively. 3. A highly positive correlation was observed between the number of stoma row of abaxial side and that of adaxial side. and between length and diameter of cone. But the number of serration was negatively correlated with all traits. 4. The distance from seashore was positively correlated with needle length and the number of serration, but negatively correlated with the number of stoma row and cone length. However, the altitude was positively correlated with the number of serration, but negatively correlated with the number of stoma row and cone length. 5. Cluster analysis using average linkage method for needle and cone characteristics showed two groups to Euclidean distance 1.0. They were group I consisting of plots 1, 8, 12, and 13 and group II of plots 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11. However, group II was divided again to Euclidean distance 0.8, that is a group including plots 2, 3, 9, and 11 and the other group comprising plots 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10.
