This study was to introduce ecological momentary assessment and show how to apply it to real-world research. As preliminary study for sustainable development, the result explained growth model using senior's longitudinal data and suitability of multi-level model in EMA data with regression analysis. The total variance of dependent variable was determined through a base model with only intercept and approximately 47% of total variance was caused by individual differences and 53% by time point differences. Second model was used to verified that each individual has a different effect on the senior vitality and effect on time was not significant. This is because it is the result of a preliminary stage where treatment is not involved and there is no significant change in process of collecting EMA data without external intervention. Third model that add gender as an independent variable showed significant change in both time and gender. Finally compared the PRD for each model and found models that without gender variables fit the data more effectively. This suggests that studies dealing with longitudinal data such as EMA data should adopt multi-level model that can measure individual characteristics, taking into account respondents' time and context.

Probabilistic reasoning and combinational reasoning are essential to build a logical thinking and a process of thinking dealing with everyday life as well as scientific knowledge. This research aims at finding the optimal period to teach reasoning to the students who haven't developed probabilistic reasoning and combinational reasoning. The treatment program was performed for 20 students from each grade who couldn't develop two parts of reasoning. The treatment program using baduk stones and cards was performed repeatedly, focusing on the specific activities. After four weeks of treatment program, the test to check the development of probabilistic reasoning and combinational reasoning was performed again and the changes of reasoning development were identified. After giving treatment program for reasoning development, 15.0%, 25.0% and 40.0% of improvement in the 4th, the 5th, the 6th graders respectively were shown. With regard to the combinational reasoning, the results showed the improvement of 20.0% in the 4th grades, 25.0% in the 5th graders and 63.2% in the 6th graders. As a result of research in the above, students, who were not formed probabilistic reasoning and combinational reasoning, could be known to be enhanced through learning, but to fail to be formed the qualitative change like the cognitive development. It is expected that this research can contribute to the improvement of students' cognitive level and there would be more active researches in different fields to improve the cognitive level of the 6th graders who are in their optimal periods to learn two parts of reasoning.
Purpose : The aims of this study were to test the efficacy of vapocoolant spray to decrease the symptoms associated with pain in newborns undergoing heel stick and intramuscular injection and compare the pain relief effect of oral glucose. Methods : Randomized, controlled study including sixty newborns undergoing heel stick and intramuscular injection. Group 1 was heelsticked, Group 2 was intramuscular injected, Group A did not recieve any treatment, Group B recieved 30% glucose solution orally, Group C was applied vapocoolant spray symptoms and signs associated with pain at heel stick and intramuscular injection were measured with the premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP) scale. Results : There was no significant difference in the PIPP score between intramuscular injected group control and heel stick group control (P=0.07). The mean PIPP score of Group 1A (control) $10.6{\pm}2.4$, Group 1B $5.5{\pm}2.0$, Group 1C $5.2{\pm}1.8$. The mean PIPP score 1B and 1C were significantly lower than control (1B P<0.001, 1C P<0.001). The mean PIPP score of Group 2A (control) $12.5{\pm}1.4$, Group 2B $7.0{\pm}1.7$, Group 2C $6.4{\pm}1.6$. The mean PIPP score 2B and 2C were significantly lower than control (2B P<0.001, 2C P<0.001). Conclusion : The antinociceptive effect of vapocoolant sparay is as effective as 30% oral glucose solution for pain control. So this study support the use of vapocoolant spray for reducing pain during painful procedure in the neonatal intensive care units.
Purpose : This study was performed evaluate optimal dose for disimpaction, efficacy and safety of PEG 4000 in children with chronic functional constipation. Methods : Eighty six children with chronic functional constipation were enrolled in this prospective study at Konkuk university hospital March, 2003 through August, 2006. Success in disimpaction with PEG 4000 was defined as meeting at least two out of three criteria; resolution of chief complaint, getting easiness of defecation with respect to frequency of bowel movement and hardness of stool based on defecation diary, and decrease in fecal impaction on simple abdominal X-ray test. Adverse effects of PEG 4000 were monitored clinically and biochemically. Results : Eighty three out of 86 children completed the study, and success rate of disimpaction was 99% (82/83). The mean dose of PEG 4000 for disimpaction was $0.93{\pm}0.28g/kg/day$ (0.4-2.0 g/kg/day, Max.: 30 g/day). Frequency of bowel movement increased ($5.02{\pm}2.71/wk$ vs. $11.25{\pm}5.43/wk$) in most children (79/83). Fecal impaction on simple abdominal X-ray test improved with statistical significance in 25 children (P=0.0007). Because of adverse effect of PEG 4000, 3 children did not complete the study; urticaria, severe diarrhea, diarrhea and abdominal pain. One 6-year-old girl who completed the study complained tingling sensation in the hand and foot without laboratory abnormality (4/86, 4.7%). Laboratory test revealed hyperosmolality without clinical symptom in 1 child, and eosinophilia in 6 children. Conclusion : The average safe and effective dose of PEG 4000 for disimpaction was $0.93{\pm}0.28g/kg/day$ (0.4-2.0 g/kg/day, Max : 30 g/day) in children with chronic functional constipation.

Purpose: To suggest an appropriate treatment modality regarding analyze outcomes of treatment for pathologic fracture to simple bone cyst of the long bone. Materials and Methods: We selected 12 cases with pathologic fracture of the long bone among the 31 cases treated for simple bone cyst from December. 1993 to May. 2001. The mean age was 9 years ranged from 2 years to 19 years, male was 11 cases and female was 1 cases, and the mean follow up interval was 32.9 month ranged from 12 month to 69 month. The principle of treatment for pathologic fracture of the long bone was conservative treatment except operative treatment for fracture with displacement of the femur. After fracture was united, the residual lesion was treated by local steroid injection, cortical drilling, curettage & bone graft. But we observed without specific treatment in cases that had healing process of simple bone cyst followed by bony union. The clinical results were evaluated as exellent if simple bone cyst was completely healed, as good if that had process of healing, as poor if that was no change or more increased in size. Results: The pathologic fracture was united in all cases treated with conservative treatment in 9cases and by open reduction with internal fixation in 3 cases. After fracture was united, the 6 cases were observed without specific treatment, because they had healing process of cyst, and had outcomes as good and excellent. Conclusion: We suggest to need observation when simple bone cyst has healing process after pathologic fracture was united, otherwise secondary treatment will be needed when residual lesion is persisted.

This study aims to investigate the effect of inquiry-based biology program of pre-service science teachers' perceptions on the nature of science and their affective domain of science. For the study, sixty-seven pre-service science teachers were sampled from students who enrolled in the 'Biology Laboratory', Spring semester, 2011. The experimental group taught by inquiry-based experiment and control group by observation-based experiment were composed. At the beginning and end of semester, pre- and post-tests on the nature of science and affective domain of science were administered. The average scores of experimental group were higher than those of control group in the post-test of the nature of science, but there were no significant differences between both groups (p>.05). For the post-test results of both groups' affective domain of science, the experimental group showed significantly higher scores than the control group in self-efficacy in science, importance of science, and importance of science for careers (p<.01). The inquiry-based biology program did not influence pre-service science teachers' perception on the nature of science, while it was effective for positive changes on pre-service science teachers' affective domain of science.
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of On-Line Community Assisted Team Learning (OCATL) activities on academic achievement and team member's Shared Mental Model(SMM) subscale scores. Two studies were conducted over two semesters in different universities. The first study was aimed at examining the effects of OCATL on university students' academic achievement using pre- and post- experimental design. For this experiment, 133 university students composed of 80 male and 53 female students from 13 colleges participated. The OCATL activities included the orientation of OCATL, seminar on collaborative learning, on-line community assisted team learning with sixteen hour participation during one semester and a final report (or a term paper). To measure these students' academic achievement, their pre- and post-semester's GPA were compared. The results of paired t-test revealed a significant difference in academic achievement (p<.05). The second study was designed to compare the scores of SMM subscales of the experimental group with the OCATL activities and those of the control group without using OCATL activities. The data was collected using the scale of Shared Mental Model(SMM)-short version developed by Johnson in 2011[18]. For this study, 74 participants from 10 teams served as an experimental group and 15 teams which were not exposed to OCATL activities served as a control group. The MANOVA results showed that SMM subscores of two groups measured after the experiment were statistically significantly different: The experimental group with the OCATL activities showed high scores on general task and team knowledge, general task and communication skills, attitudes toward team and task, team dynamics and interactions, team resources and working environment, and satisfaction with the team.

The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical sedation effect of chloral hydrate and hydroxyzine combination with and without nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation when young children were sedated for dental treatment. The uncooperative 20 children aged, 21 to 47 months of age(ASA Class I), participated in the study. The author examined 20 children(male 12, female 8). Each patient was assigned to receive chloral hydrate(50mg/kg) and hydroxyzine(25mg). Next appointment, each patient was assigned to receive $N_2O-O_2$, choral hydrate and hydroxyzine. Sleep, crying, movement, and overall behavior response were evaluated, and the sedative effects were evaluated by Houpt's rating scale. Pulse rate and peripheral oxygen saturation were also measured for monitoring the sedated patients during treatment period by pulse oximeter. The result were as follows : 1. In the evaluation of sleep scores, crying scores, and movement scores, chloral $hydrate/hydroxyzine/N_2O-O_2$ combination group was significantly rated high(p<0.05). 2. In the evaluation of overall behavior scores, chloral hydrate/hydroxyzine/$N_2O-O_2$ combination group was significantly rated high(p<0.05). 3. In the evaluation of overall behavior evaluation scores(by Houpt), 93.3% in chloral $hydrate/hydroxyzine/N_2O-O_2$ combination group and 63.3% in chloral hydrate/hydroxyzine combination group were rated "good" or "very good". 4. There was no adverse side effect(i.e. respiratory depression) in both group.
