The studies to estimate the surface spectral reflectance of an object have received widespread attention using the multi-spectral camera system. However, the multi-spectral camera system requires the additional color filter according to increment of the channel and system complexity is increased by multiple capture. Thus, this paper proposes an algorithm to reduce the estimation error of surface spectral reflectance with the conventional 3-band RGB camera. In the proposed method, adaptive principal components for each pixel are calculated by renewing the population of surface reflectances and the adaptive principal components can reduce estimation error of surface spectral reflectance of current pixel. To evaluate performance of the proposed estimation method, 3-band principal component analysis, 5-band wiener estimation method, and the proposed method are compared in the estimation experiment with the Macbeth Color Checker. As a result, the proposed method showed a lower mean square error between the estimated and the measured spectra compared to the conventional 3-band principal component analysis method and represented a similar or advanced estimation performance compared to the 5-band wiener method.
This paper presentsthe performance study of blind equalizer algorithms for impulsive-noise environments based on Gaussian kernel and constant modulus error(CME). Constant modulus algorithm(CMA) based on CME and mean squared error(MSE) criterion fails in impulsive noise environment. Correntropy blind method recently introduced for impulsive-noise resistance has shown in PAM system not very satisfying results. It is revealed in theoretical and simulation analysis that the maximization of zero-error probability based on CME(MZEP-CME) originally proposed for Gaussian noise environments produces superior performance in impulsive noise channels as well. Gaussian kernel of MZEP-CME has a strong effect of becoming insensitive to the large differences between the power of impulse-infected outputs and the constant modulus value.
A method for the automatic segmentation of speech signals is described. The method is dedicated to the construction of a large database for a Text-To-Speech (TTS) synthesis system. The main issue of the work involves the refinement of an initial estimation of phone boundaries which are provided by an alignment, based on a Hidden Market Model(HMM). Multi-layer perceptron (MLP) was used as a phone boundary detector. To increase the performance of segmentation, a technique which individually trains an MLP according to phonetic transition is proposed. The optimum partitioning of the entire phonetic transition space is constructed from the standpoint of minimizing the overall deviation from hand labelling positions. With single speaker stimuli, the experimental results showed that more than 95% of all phone boundaries have a boundary deviation from the reference position smaller than 20 ms, and the refinement of the boundaries reduces the root mean square error by about 25%.

This paper considers a linear precoding scheme that achieves near optimal sum rate. While the minimum mean square error (MMSE) precoding provides the better MSE performance at all signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than the zero forcing (ZF) precoding, its sum rate shows superior performance to ZF precoding at low SNR but inferior performance to ZF precoding at high SNR, From this observation, we first propose a near optimal linear precoding scheme in terms of sum rate. The resulting precoding scheme regularizes ZF precoding to maximize the sum rate, resulting in better sum rate performance than both ZF precoding and MMSE precoding at all SNR ranges. To find regularization parameters, we propose a simple algorithm such that locally maximal sum rate is achieved. As a low complexity alternative, we also propose a simple power re-allocation scheme in the conventional regularized channel inversion scheme. Finally, the proposed scheme is tested under the presence of channel estimation error. By simulation, we show that the proposed scheme can maintain the performance gain in the presence of channel estimation error and is robust to the channel estimation error.

This paper proposes an algorithm to reduce the estimation error of surface spectral-reflectance(SR) using a conventional 3-band RGB camera. In the proposed method, estimation error can be reduced by using adaptive principal components(PCs) for each color region. In order to build adaptive set of PCs, n SR populations are organized for n PC sets by using Lloyd quantizer design algorithm. Macbetch ColorCheckcer is utilized as initial representative SR values for 1485 Munsell color chips of total color population and the Munsell chips arc divided subsets and a set of corresponding adaptive PCs per each subset is organized. As a result of experiments, the proposed method showed advanced estimation performance compared to both the two 3-band PCA methods and the 5-band wiener method.

This paper proposes two Bayes estimators and their evaluation algorithms of the software reliability at the end testing stage in the Smith's Bayesian software reliability growth model under the data prior distribution BE(a, b), which is more general than uniform distribution, as a class of prior information. We consider both a squared-error loss function and the Harris loss function in the Bayesian estimation procedures. We also compare the MSE performances of the Bayes estimators and their algorithms of software reliability using computer simulations. And we conclude that the Bayes estimator of software reliability under the Harris loss function is more efficient than other estimators in terms of the MSE performances as a is larger and b is smaller, and that the Bayes estimators using the beta prior distribution as a conjugate prior is better than the Bayes estimators under the uniform prior distribution as a noninformative prior when a>b.

Adaptive channel equlization accomplished without resorting to a training sequence is known as blind equalization. In this paper, in order to reduce the speed of the convergence and the steady-state mean squared error simultaneously, we propose the multi-stage RD(radius-directed) algorithm derived from the combination of the constant modulus algorithm and the radius-directed algorithm. In the starting stage, multi-stage RD algorithm are identical to the constant modulus algorithm which guarantees the convergence of the equalizer. As the blind identical to the constant modulus algorithm which guarantees the convergence of the equalizer. As the blind equalizer converges, the number of the level of the quantizers is increased gradually, so that the proposed algorithm operate identical to the radius-directed algorithm which leads to the low error power after the covnergence. Therefore, the multi-stage RD algorithm obtains fast convergence rage and low steady stage mean square error.
Due to the large scale application of software systems, software reliability plays an important role in software developments. In this paper, a software reliability growth model (SRGM) is proposed for testing time. The testing time on the right is truncated in this model. The intensity function, mean-value function, reliability of the software, estimation of parameters and the special applications of Pareto NHPP model are discussed. This paper, a numerical example of applying using time between failures and parameter estimation using maximum likelihood estimation method, after the efficiency of the data through trend analysis model selection, depended on difference between predictions and actual values, were efficient using the mean square error and $R_{SQ}$.

Coefficients of the adaptive filter are misadjusted by primary signals which are uncorrelated with reference signals of the adaptive filter. In this paper, the normalized sign algorithm is analyzed and compared with the NLMS algorithm by the steady state performance and the transient characteristics when target signals are included in primary signals. The excess mean square error of the NLMS algorithm is proportional to the power of target signals. That of normalized sign algorithm is proportional to the square root of the target signal power. However, the convergence speed of the normalized sign algorithm is slower than that of NLMS algorithm. In this paper, it is shown that theoretical analysis of the steady state performance and the transient characteristics are well consisted with the results of computer simulation.

The SA filters have a very flexible structure by limiting the maximum subwindow size. This flexible structure presents an effective trade-off between the complexity and performance of the filters. In this paper, experimental results showing the performance variation according to the change of filter order and subfilter type(such as max, min, exclusive-OR, mod) are presented. We designed optimal SA filters minimizing MSE for the various noise conditions. These results show several new properties of SA filters.
