Active Control of Earthquake Responses Using Fuzzy Supervisory Control Technique (퍼지관리제어기법을 이용한 지진응답의 능동제어)

  • Fuzzy supervisory control method is studied for the active control of earthquake excited structures. The proposed algorithm supervises and tunes previously designed control gains by evaluating the state of a structure through the fuzzy inference mechanism, which uses the information of relative displacements and velocities. Example designs and numerical simulations of earthquake exited three degrees of freedom structures are performed to prove the validity of the proposed control algorithm. Comparative results with conventional LQR method show that the proposed method is effective for the vibration suppression of earthquake excited structures.

Evaluation of Robust Performance of Fuzzy Supervisory Control Technique (퍼지관리제어기법의 강인성능평가)

  • Using the variable control gain scheme on the basis of fuzzy-based decision-making process, Fuzzy supervisory control (FSC) technique exhibits better control performance than linear control technique with one static control gain. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the FSC technique by evaluating the robust performance of the FSC technique under the presence of uncertainties in the models and the excitations. Robust performance of the FSC system is compared with that of optimally designed LQG control system for the benchmark cable-stayed bridge presented by Dyke et al. Parameter studies on the robust performance evaluation are carried out by varying the stiffness of the bridge model as well as the magnitudes of several earthquakes with different frequency contents. From the comparative study of two control systems, FSC system shows the enhanced control performance against various magnitudes of several earthquakes while maintaining lower level of power required for controlling the bridge response. Especially, FSC system clearly guarantees the improved robust performance of the control system with stable reduction effects on the seismic responses and slight increases in total power and stroke for the control system, while LQG control system exhibits poor robust performance.

  • The effectiveness of fuzzy supervisory control technique for the control of seismic responses of smart base isolation system is investigated in this study. To this end, first generation base isolated building benchmark problem is employed for the numerical simulation. The benchmark structure under consideration is an eight-story base isolated building having irregular plan and is equipped with low-damping elastometric bearings and magnetorheological (MR) dampers for seismic protection. Lower level fuzzy logic controllers (FLC) for far-fault or near-fault earthquakes are developed in order to effectively control base isolated building using multi-objective genetic algorithm. Four objectives, i.e. reduction of peak structural acceleration, peak base drift, RMS structural acceleration and RMS base drift, are used in multi-objective optimization process. When earthquakes are applied to benchmark building, each of low level FLCs provides different command voltage and supervisory fuzzy controller combines two command voltages io one based on fuzzy inference system in real time. Results from the numerical simulations demonstrate that base drift as well as superstructure responses can be effectively reduced using the proposed supervisory fuzzy control technique.

  • Fuzzy supervisory control technique for the seismic response control of cable-stayed bridges subject to earthquakes is studied. The proposed technique is a hybrid control method, which adopts a hierarchical structure consisting of several sub-controllers and a fuzzy supervisor. Sub-controllers are independently designed to reduced the responses to be controlled of a cable-stayed bridge, and a fuzzy supervisor achieves improved seismic control performance by tuning the pre-designed sub-controllers. It is realized by converting static gains of the sub-controllers into time-varying dynamic gains through the fuzzy inference mechanism. To evaluate the feasibility of the proposed technique, the benchmark control problem of cable-stayed bridge proposed by Dyke et al. is adopted. The control variables for the seismic response control of the cable-stayed bridge are determined to be t도 shear forces and bending moments at the base of the towers, the longitudinal displacements at the top of the towers, the relative displacements between the deck and the tower, and the tensions in the stay cables. Comparative results between the fuzzy supervisory controller and LQG controller demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control technique.

  • This paper presents a systematic risk assessment procedure with uncertainty modeling for general construction projects. Since the approach is able to effectively deal with all the related construction risks in terms of the assumed probability with conditional probability concept that systematically incorporate expert's experiences and subjective judgement, the proposed methods with uncertainty modeling is able to apply to all the construction projects inherent in lots of uncertain risk events. The fuzzy set theory is adopted to enhance risk assessment to effectively handle the vague and dynamic phenomenon of an event Therefore, the fuzzy-based risk assessment is very useful, for those countries, such as Korea, where objective probabilistic data for risk assessment is extremely rare, and thus the utilization of subjective judgmental data based on expert's experiences is inevitable.

  • Variable Message Signs have been used for providing information on the current traffic conditions. However, it is considered more important to achieve optimal traffic allocation among the alternative routes by strategic VMS information provision. Fuzzy control is very effective and efficient to deal with such systems that are too complex and uncertain to build mathematical models. In this paper, a fuzzy feedback controller for VMS is proposed, whose goal is to achieve the travel time equilibrium between the two alternative routes. The performance of the suggested controller is implemented and examined using MATLAB/Simulink. More robust controller applicable to a real highway network is suggested for the further research.

  • The most important part of the smart livestock building system is to maintain a breeding environment so that livestock can grow to high quality despite changes in the internal and external atmospheric environment. Especially, it is very important to maintain the temperature and humidity in the livestock building because various diseases occur during the summer and winter. To manage the environment suitable for livestock, a smartfarm system for livestock building is applied, but it is very expensive. In this study, we propose a hardware design and control method for low cost system based on HMI and fuzzy control. To evaluate the performance of the proposed system, we did a simulation experiment in the atmospheric conditions of summer and winter. As a result, it showed the performance of minimizing the temperature and humidity stress of livestock. And when applied to the livestock building, the proposed system showed stable control performance even in the change of the external atmospheric environment. Therefore, as with these results, if proposed system in this study is applied to the smart farm system, it will be effective in managing the environment of livestock building.

In this paper, in order to ensure safe use by third parties in the health care environment, classify the attributes of patient information and patient privacy protection technique using hierarchical multi-property rights proposed to classify information according to the role of patient hospital officials The. Hospital patients and to prevent the proposed method is represented by a mathematical model, the information (the data consumer, time, sensor, an object, duty, and the delegation circumstances, and so on) the privacy attribute of a patient from being exploited illegally patient information from a third party the prevention of the leakage of the privacy information of the patient in synchronization with the attribute information between the parties.

  • In order to maintain clean environment in an interior space and an enclosed cattle pen, we have to measure and control environmental factors which are temperature, humidity and CO2, CH4 and so on. Although the measured values are within the normal range, those are increased or decreased sharply by the feces or environmental impacts. In order to take early an appropriate action, we propose an early warning method(EWarM) in this paper, which can recognize the rapidly changing time for the increasing or decreasing rate of the measured values. In addition, we developed fuzzy control system based on an EWarM. We verified that this system based on an EWarM is used for eliminating that impacts through performance evaluation in a variety of environmental situations.

An Aggregate Detection of Event Correlation using Fuzzy Control (퍼지제어를 이용한 관련성 통합탐지)

  • An intrusion detection system shows different result over overall detection area according to its detection characteristics of inner detection algorithms or techniques. To expand detection areas, we requires an integrated detection which can be archived both by deploying a few detection systems which detect different detection areas and by combining their results. In addition to expand detection areas, we need to decrease the workload of security managers by false alarms and improve the correctness by minimizing false alerts which happen during the process of integration. In this paper, a method for aggregation detection use fuzzy inference to integrate a vague detection results which imply the characteristics of detection systems. Their analyzed detection characteristics are expressed as fuzzy membership functions and fuzzy rule bases which are applied through the process of fuzzy control. And, it integrate a vague decision results and minimize the number of false alerts by reflecting the characteristics of detection systems. Also it does minimize inference objects by applying thresholds decided through several experiments.
