Recently, the high-speed Internet users increase rapidly and broadband networks have been widely deployed. However, the current TCP congestion control algorithm was designed for relatively narrowband network environments, and thus its performance is inefficient for traffic transport in broadband networks. To remedy this problem, the TCP having an enhanced congestion control algorithm is required for broadband networks. In this paper, we propose an improved TCP congestion control that can sufficiently utilize the large available bandwidth in broadband networks. The proposed algorithm predicts the available bandwidth by using ACK information and RTT variation, and prevents large packet losses by adjusting congestion window size appropriately. Also, it can rapidly utilize the large available bandwidth by enhancing the legacy TCP algorithm in congestion avoidance phase. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we use the ns-2 simulator. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves not only the utilization of the available bandwidth but also RTT fairness and the fairness between contending TCP flows better than the HSTCP in high bandwidth delay product network environment.

In this paper, we take advantage of the characteristics of optical burst switching (OBS) to support service-differentiation in optical networks. With the offset time between control packet and burst data, the proposed scheme uses different offset time of each service class. As contrasted with the Previous method, in which the high Priority service use only long offset time, it derives the burst loss rate as a QoS parameter in consideration of conservation law and given service-differential ratios and decides a reasonable offset time for this QoS finally Firstly proposed method classifies services into one of high or low class and is an algorithm deciding the offset time for supporting the required QoS of high class. In order to consider the multi-classes environment, we expand the analysis method of first algorithm and propose the second algorithm. It divides services into one of high or low group according to their burst loss rate and decides the offset time for high group, and lastly cumulates the offset time of each class. The proposed algorithms are evaluated through simulation. The result of simulation is compared with that of analysis to verify the proposed scheme.

The short-range communication module was developed in this paper which is suitable for the point-to-multipoint circumstances of 40 terminals communicating frequently in about 50 meters. The media access control layer of this communication module using asynchronous time-division multiplexing provides a fast and robust performance even in the worst case of simultaneous transmission events, and low packet error rate was measured a in LOS (Line-of-sight) circumstance by adding the function of acknowledge response to media access control layer. The difference test was carried out in order to measure the performance of point-to-multipoint communication. Two communication modules are respectively measured and graphed in 10 branches to 40 branches. The communication module developed in this paper showed a faster performance than the commercial Zigbee module in the specific case presented in this paper. Especially, in over 20 branches showed wide differences of the transmission speed. This results is caused by more network overhead of Zigbee whose wider applications needs the network layer and applicaiton layer besides media access control layer. Also, the asynchronous time-division multiplexing proposed in this paper are more suitable than CSMA-CA of Zigbee module when a lot of module ought to be frequently communicated in small area.
Since the propagation speed of the Internet worms is quite fast, worm detection in early propagation stage is very important for reducing the damage. Virus throttling technique, one of many early worm detection techniques, detects the Internet worm propagation by limiting the connection requests within a certain ratio.[6, 7] The typical throttling technique increases the possibility of false detection by treating destination IP addresses independently in their delay queue managements. In addition, it uses a simple decision strategy that determines a worn intrusion if the delay queue is overflown. This paper proposes a two dimensional delay queue management technique in which the sessions with the same destination IP are linked and thus a IP is not stored more than once. The virus throttling technique with the proposed delay queue management can reduce the possibility of false worm detection, compared with the typical throttling since the proposed technique never counts the number of a IP more than once when it chicks the length of delay queue. Moreover, this paper proposes a worm detection algorithm based on weighted average queue length for reducing worm detection time and the number of worm packets, without increasing the length of delay queue. Through deep experiments, it is verified that the proposed technique taking account of the length of past delay queue as well as current delay queue forecasts the worn propagation earlier than the typical iuぉ throttling techniques do.
In addition to wired communication technology, wireless communication technology has had communication revolution nowadays. Bluethooth technology carries out data/voice communication within pico-net. Nowadays the various services are supported by access network connected to public network. This paper presents implementation of bluetooth protocol analyser which simulates bluetooth protocol. MS window98 and visual C are used for development environment and application program is operated over the firmware loaded on the bluetooth device connected to the PC through UART which of the maximum transmission rate is 115kbps because transmission rate less than 20kbps affects rarely the performance. The performance analysis on the propose system is carried out as simulating the signalling information for the voice test and the traffics between two bluetooth systems for file transfer. The throughput analysis for file transfer service and call processing capacity for voice service are considered as performance analysis parameters. File access time is very important parameter and throughput is 13 kbps in case breakpoint time to file access is 0.04sec. Also call processing time is about 16.6ms in case of communication with the headset. The performance analysis of simulation results satisfies with bluetooth device development.

In the current trend of increasing network traffic due to the popularization of cloud service and mobile devices, WAN bandwidth is very low compared to LAN bandwidth. In a WAN environment, a WAN optimizer is needed to overcome performance problems caused by transmission protocol, packet loss, and network bandwidth limitations. In this paper, we analyze the data deduplication algorithm of WANProxy, an open source WAN optimizer, and evaluate its performance in terms of network latency and WAN bandwidth. Also, we evaluate the performance of the two-stage compression method of WANProxy and Zstandard. We propose a new method to improve the performance of WANProxy by revising its data deduplication algorithm and evaluate its performance improvement. We perform experiments using 12 data files of Silesia with a data segment size of 2048 bytes. Experimental results show that the average compression rate by WANProxy is 150.6, and the average network latency reduction rates by WANProxy are 95.2% for a 10 Mbps WAN environment and 60.7% for a 100 Mbps WAN environment, respectively. Compared with WANProxy, the two-stage compression of WANProxy and Zstandard increases the average compression rate by 33%. However, it increases the average network latency by 2.1% for a 10 Mbps WAN environment and 5.27% for a 100 Mbps WAN environment, respectively. Compared with WANProxy, our proposed method increases the average compression rate by 34.8% and reduces the average network latency by 13.8% for a 10 Mbps WAN and 12.9% for a 100 Mbps WAN, respectively. Performance analysis results of WANProxy show that its performance improvement in terms of network latency and WAN bandwidth is excellent in a 10Mbps or less WAN environment while superior in a 100 Mbps WAN environment.

A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN for short) is a wireless network consisting of distributed small devices which are called sensor nodes or motes. Recently, there has been an extensive research on WSN and also on its security. For secure storage and secure transmission of the sensed information, sensor nodes should be equipped with cryptographic algorithms. Moreover, these algorithms should be efficiently implemented since sensor nodes are highly resource-constrained devices. There are already some existing algorithms applicable to sensor nodes, including public key ciphers such as TinyECC and standard block ciphers such as AES. Stream ciphers, however, are still to be analyzed, since they were only recently standardized in the eSTREAM project. In this paper, we implement over the MicaZ platform nine software-based stream ciphers out of the ten in the second and final phases of the eSTREAM project, and we evaluate their performance. Especially, we apply several optimization techniques to six ciphers including SOSEMANUK, Salsa20 and Rabbit, which have survived after the final phase of the eSTREAM project. We also present the implementation results of hardware-oriented stream ciphers and AES-CFB fur reference. According to our experiment, the encryption speeds of these software-based stream ciphers are in the range of 31-406Kbps, thus most of these ciphers are fairly acceptable fur sensor nodes. In particular, the survivors, SOSEMANUK, Salsa20 and Rabbit, show the throughputs of 406Kbps, 176Kbps and 121Kbps using 70KB, 14KB and 22KB of ROM and 2811B, 799B and 755B of RAM, respectively. From the viewpoint of encryption speed, the performances of these ciphers are much better than that of the software-based AES, which shows the speed of 106Kbps.
