Unmanned Lunar Exploration Failure Case Analysis (해외 무인 달 탐사 실패 사례 분석)

  • The history of mankind's lunar exploration began in 1958 with the United States of America "Pioneer 0" mission. In 1950s~1970s, the United States of America and Union of Soviet Socialist Republics carried out missions and experienced numerous failures to explore the moon. Since the 1990s, Japan, Europe, China and other Advanced country in Space technology have started to explore the moon and in 2016, Korea began to develop the lunar orbiter for lunar exploration. This paper analyzed the failure cases and causes of the lunar exploration in the USA and the USSR in the 1950s~1970s according to the mission purpose. Examples of mission delays, cancel, and failures that occurred during lunar exploration in post-1990s were presented. Through the investigation and analysis, this paper is intended to serve as a reference of the lunar exploration mission that Korea is working on or will be performing in the future.

Korean Dietary Life from the View of Foreigner in the early 1900s (1900년대 초 외국인이 본 한국인의 식생활)

  • Western countries came to Asia aggressively in the early 1900s. Westerners who came to Korea at that time also had a various jobs with diplomats, missionaries, doctors, and so on. Korean diet was curious and shocking to foreigners in the early 1990s, so they made a record of the Korean diet. They thought Korea was peaceful, attractive and rich to eat. Koreans ate mainly rice and kimchi, a variety of grains, vegetables and bibimbap. Korea had a variety of meat and fish, seaweed, and herbs(ginseng). Foreigners said Koreans were greedy for food and ate a lot. Koreans ate basically a bowl of rice(bap), a bowl of soup(kuk), kimchi, soy sauce and other dishes. If Koreans wanted to set a table in abundance, they have meat soup(kuk) with meat and additional fish like as raw fish, dried fish, and boiled or fried fish. Korean people had a jangdokdae with Ongki(Earthen jar) where soy sauce(kanjang), soybean paste(doenjang), red pepper paste(kochujang), pickles (jang-achi) have been fermented. Foreigners felt the smell of lacquer tree and kimchi hung in the air from Korean people. While they were compared it to the smell of western rim cheese burger, they said Korea was a country with nasty smell in the feet. By the records of foreigners in the early 1900s, Korean's diets and image were appeared objectively.

Agronomic and Silage Traits of Corn over Time (수확시기에 따른 사일리지용 옥수수의 생육특성 및 수량 비교)

  • Pioneer 31N27 variety was planted on April 19 at Suwon to determine agronomic and silage traits over time. Ten harvest times was made at intervals of 10 days beginning July 1 to September 20, 2010. Stalk dry matter (DM) content increased with maturity, the highest by 58.5% on September 10 and then decreased (p<0.05). Ear and whole-plant DM content increased linearly with maturity, and whole-plant DM reached by 30% on August 11. Ear DM to whole-plant DM increased with maturity and reached by 63.2% on September 20. Ear DM yield increased with maturity, and stalk, whole-plant and TDN yield were the highest on September 10 and then decreased (p < 0.05). A regression coefficient for DM yield with maturity were 0.57 for stalk, 0.92 for ear, 0.90 for whole-plant and 0.93 for TDN yield.
