등부표의 야간 시인성을 높이는 태양광 LED윤곽표시조명의 적용사례

  • 해상등부표는 선박 통항의 안전을 위해서 필요한 시설로, 낚시 배와 소형 어선을 포함한 선박의 항로표지에 중요한 역할을 한다. 그런데 야간에는 해상에 설치된 등부표의 위치나 번호판 식별이 어려워 소형 어선이나 선박이 등부표에 가까이 접근하여 등부표를 발견하지 못하는 경우 충돌하여 선박이 파손되거나 인명사고가 발생한다. 이 적용사례는 소형 어선이나 선박이 야간에도 등부표의 위치와 번호판을 손쉽게 식별할 수 있도록 등부표에 윤곽표시조명장치를 구비하여 충돌사고의 예방과 항로표지서비스를 향상시키는 목적을 갖고 개발을 추진하였다. 윤곽표시조명장치는 태양광전원을 이용하여 IP68 방수형 고효율 LED조명을 구비하여 멀리서도 식별이 가능하여 야간에도 신속하게 안전한 항로를 확보할 수 있게 되었으며, 근접센서 콘트롤러를 결합하여 선박이 등부표에 가까이 접근하면 LED조명이 점멸하며 깜빡이면서 충돌위험을 알리는 경보기능을 추가하여 등부표와 충돌사고를 예방할 수 있게 되어 항로표지서비스의 향상을 도모하게 되었다.

  • Natural gas is an explosive fluid and can cause severe human/material damage when buried high-pressure pipeline is failure, and there have been reported cases of considerable human life damage to actual buried pipeline failure. In domestic cases, the length and duration of pipeline operating are short due to rapid growth. Therefore, it is a fact that the establishment of effective accident data is insufficient for the cause of the accident. In order to systematically construct an accident database, the operation history of natural gas pipeline is longer than domestic, and the cause and frequency analysis of recent natural gas pipeline related accidents occurred in overseas major countries with a long pipeline network was conducted. Then, after grasping the trend of occurrence frequency by incident cause, we tried to establish the foundation for securing the stability of the domestic high-pressure gas transport pipeline network.

  • A fatigue life prediction program for multiple planar surface cracks in finite plates and T-fillet joints, based on linear elastic fracture mechanics was developed. This prediction technique include the crack coalescence, mutual interation and the stress intensity concentration effect in welded joints. Total of 44 cases were compared with lida's and Vosikovsky's experimental results and it was found that the present method was a reasonable tool for the predictioin of fatigue life.

  • This study examines thermal safety on three-way catalyst that dominates 70% among whole exhaust gas purification device in 2003. Three-way catalyst maintains high temperature in interior domain but maintains low temperature on outside surface. Therefore this device shows tensile stress on outside surface. Temperature distribution of three-way catalyst was acquired by thermal flow analysis for predicted thermal flow parameter. Thermal stress analysis for three-way catalysis was performed based on this temperature distribution. Thermal safety of three-way catalyst was estimated by strength reduction factor and failure probability.

  • 보는 일반적으로 수위를 조절하고 취수를 하기 위한 목적으로 하천을 횡단하여 설치한다. 하천에 설치되어 있는 보는 대부분이 고정보로써 흐름의 정체를 유발시켜 토사퇴적 및 수질 악화를 가져오며 하천환경을 파괴하는 원인이 되기도 한다. 이러한 이유 때문에 최근에는 기존의 고정보가 아닌 저수용량을 조절할 수 있는 가동보가 개발되어 설치가 계속적으로 늘어가고 있는 실정이며, 또한 자정효과 및 토사퇴적 경감효과를 위한 여러 가지 방안이 연구되고 있다. 가동보 중 고무보는 시공실적이 많고 유지관리가 용이하지만 인위적인 파손이나 자연재해로 인해 고무시트가 파손될 경우 하천에 피해를 입히게 되며 장시간 방치시 고가의 유지보수비가 소요된다. 또한 고무보의 내구연한이 30년 이상으로 하천의 안전과 올바른 용수확보를 위해서 적절한 운영 및 유지관리가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 고무보 운영시 유지보수사례를 조사하여 원인을 파악하고, 기존 고무시트에 마모확인이 가능하며 방탄/방검 기능을 추가한 고무시트를 고무보에 시공시 내구성, 안전성, 유지관리 및 경제성 등에 대해 분석하였다.

A Case Study for Deterioration due to Alkali-Silica Reaction in the Cement Concrete Pavement (알칼리-실리카 반응에 의한 시멘트 콘크리트 포장 파손 사례)

  • The Alkali-Silica Reaction(ASR) may cause a serious failure in the concrete pavements and structures. Several researches in some nations have conducted the continuous studies to prevent failure of the concrete structures by the ASR distress as well as the studies to manifest the mechanism. The researches on the ASR have not been performed affluently in Korea because the distress due to ASR has seldom been reported literarily. In this study, we tried to set up the systematic scheme practically for verifying the cause of distress due to ASR by using the visual inspections in field, the chemical method, petrographic analysis, and Electron Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer(EDX) method of Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) in laboratory. The chemical method, petrographic method using SEM, and X-ray method were used to verify the cause of pattern crack on the surface and internal crack in the plain concrete pavement. It can be concluded that the distress of a specific site in plain concrete pavement was mainly due to ASR. The chemical method, the petrographic method and EDX method using SEM may be the effective tools for verifying the cause of AAR distresses.

Performance Evaluation of a New Buried Expansion Joint (새로운 매설형 신축이음장치의 성능 평가)

  • Asphalt Plug Joint(APJ) is an buried expansion joint that enabling the smooth connection of expansion gap and road pavement by filling the gap with bituminous mixture of 20% bitumen and 80% aggregate by weight, so it secures evenness and expansion or contraction using the material's properties. Although APJ is designed to have a 6-7 year lifecycle, there are some cases where it is damaged within the first six months. This early damage cause traffic congestion due to frequent repair works, and social cost exceeding the installation cost of the joint. So, in this research, we have developed a new system of Buried Folding Lattice Joint(BFLJ) which can overcome the disadvantages of APJ, and have analyzed and compared it's performance with the conventional APJ through experiment with specimens. As a result of the experiment, APJ had crack formation on both ends of the gap plate, spreading to the surface of the expansion joint. With this result, we can conclude that the reason for early damage is the tension failure due to the concentration of strain in the asphalt mixture along the end of gap plate and the debonding along the joint section. In contrast, the newly developed BFLJ induced even transformation in the joint by applying moving stud and high performance material, and resolved APJ's disadvantage of strain concentration. Therefore, it could be seen that the newly developed BFLJ could overcome the disadvantages of APJ and prevent early damage.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study for turbocharger system in a vehicle of diesel engine. The first example, it certified the fact that a car engine is not to accelerate by clogged the exhaust tube as the turbine was damaged because of turbine wheel broken. The a vehicle with turbocharger must to stop engine operation after maintaining the appropriate idle revolution as it can be the sticking phenomenon if the operator immediately stop the engine being high revolution. The second example, it knew the phenomenon of acceleration faulty that the rod of VGT actuator that operating the turbocharger adhered with the bracket of VGT. The third example, it confirmed the power insufficiency phenomenon when driving by of alternator resistor and fan intercooler fan relay connector mistaken assembly. Therefore, the operator have to scrutinize manage no the failure of turbocharger system.

  • Numerous studies on the improvement of low strength for soft ground have been performed. EPS, light weight filling material, is used at the study site for stability on consolidation settlement. However, several problems such as settlement of pavement layer and damage of curb occurs. The elevation is lower 1 m than that of designed value by consolidation. It is caused by excessive load during construction. In this study, problems due to overloading on the soft ground where the EPS is used were analyzed and some cases for reasonable improvement method were described. From the results, instructions for design and construction are suggested.

  • The use of reinforced soil walls has grown significantly over the last few decades due to their ease construction and economical efficiency. Many damage cases of the reinforced soil walls have been reported as the use of reinforced soil walls increases. Inappropriate design and construction management mainly induce these problems. This paper describes case study on two damaged geogrid reinforced soil walls. The causes of the damage are investigated through the site investigations and proper countermeasures are proposed.
