Measurement of Longitudinal and Transverse Wave Speed in Solid Materials Using Immersion Ultrasonic Testing (수침 초음파 시험법을 이용한 고체의 종파와 횡파 속도의 측정)

  • Immersion ultrasonic testing (UT) was used to determine elastic moduli of solid materials instead of the widely-used contact UT method. Conventionally, immersion UT is only used for determining the longitudinal wave speed. However, in this research, transverse wave speed was measured through finding transverse wave echoes caused by mode-conversion at material's boundary. Also, even in the cases when wave speeds could not be determined due to unknown thickness, Poisson's ratio was able to be calculated from the ratio of longitudinal and transverse wave speeds. This technique was verified for several materials, and it was found that higher accuracy was obtained by immersion UT method for materials either with relatively high wave speed or with relatively small Poisson's ratio. This technique thus will be suitable fur ceramics or high strength materials.

  • MapReduce, the Hadoop's essential core technology, is most commonly used to process big data based on the Hadoop distributed file system. However, the existing MapReduce-based big data processing techniques have a feature of dividing and storing files in blocks predefined in the Hadoop distributed file system, thus wasting huge infrastructure resources. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an efficient MapReduce-based big data processing scheme. The proposed method enhances the storage efficiency of a big data infrastructure environment by converting and compressing the data to be processed into a data format in advance suitable for processing by MapReduce. In addition, the proposed method solves the problem of the data processing time delay arising from when implementing with focus on the storage efficiency.

  • This paper proposes a face recognition technique that effectively combines fixed graph matching (FGM) and Fisherface algorithm. EGM as one of dynamic link architecture uses not only face-shape but also the gray information of image, and Fisherface algorithm as a class specific method is robust about variations such as lighting direction and facial expression. In the proposed face recognition adopting the above two methods, linear projection per node of an image graph reduces dimensionality of labeled graph vector and provides a feature space to be used effectively for the classification. In comparison with a conventional EGM, the proposed approach could obtain satisfactory results in the perspectives of recognition speeds. Especially, we could get higher average recognition rate of 90.1% than the conventional methods by hold-out method for the experiments with the Yale Face Databases and Olivetti Research Laboratory (ORL) Databases.

  • This paper propose the structure of real-time face detection hardware architecture for robot vision processing applications. The proposed architecture is robust against illumination changes and operates at no less than 60 frames per second. It uses Modified Census Transform to obtain face characteristics robust against illumination changes. And the AdaBoost algorithm is adopted to learn and generate the characteristics of the face data, and finally detected the face using this data. This paper describes the face detection hardware structure composed of Memory Interface, Image Scaler, MCT Generator, Candidate Detector, Confidence Comparator, Position Resizer, Data Grouper, and Detected Result Display, and verification Result of Hardware Implementation with using Virtex5 LX330 FPGA of Xilinx. Verification result with using the images from a camera showed that maximum 32 faces per one frame can be detected at the speed of maximum 149 frame per second.

Design and Fabrication of 40 ㎓ MMIC Double Balanced Star Mixer using Novel Balun (새로운 발룬 회로를 이용한 40 ㎓ 대역 MMIC 이중 평형 Star 혼합기의 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, MMIC double balanced star mixer for 40 ㎓ was implemented on GaAs substrate with backside vias. In the design of the MMIC mixer, the design of balun and diode was required. A novel balun structure using microstrip to CPS was presented. The 40 ㎓ balun was designed based on the design experience of the scale-down balun by 2 ㎓. The balun may be suitable for fabrication in MMIC process with backside via and can easily be applied for DBM(Double Balanced Mixer). A Schottky diode was designed and implemented using p-HEMT process considering the compatability with other high frequency MMIC's fabricated on p-HEMT base process. Finally, the double balanced star mixer was fabricated using the balun and the p=HEMP Schottky diode. The measured performance of mixer shows 30 ㏈ conversion loss at 18 ㏈m LO power. This insufficient performance is caused by the unwanted diode at AlGaAs junction in vertical structure of p-HEMT. If the p-HEMT's gate is recessed to AlGaAs layer, and so the diode is eliminated, the mixer's performances will be improved.

  • 3 차원 그래픽스에 적용하는 한국어 립씽크 합성 체계를 연구하여, 말소리에 대응하는 자연스러운 립씽크를 자동적으로 생성하도록 하는 디자인 시스템을 연구 개발하였다. 페이셜애니메이션은 크게 나누어 감정 표현, 즉 표정의 애니메이션과 대화 시 입술 모양의 변화를 중심으로 하는 대화 애니메이션 부분으로 구분할 수 있다. 표정 애니메이션의 경우 약간의 문화적 차이를 제외한다면 거의 세계 공통의 보편적인 요소들로 이루어지는 반면 대화 애니메이션의 경우는 언어에 따른 차이를 고려해야 한다. 이와 같은 문제로 인해 영어권 및 일본어 권에서 제안되는 음성에 따른 립싱크 합성방법을 한국어에 그대로 적용하면 청각 정보와 시각 정보의 부조화로 인해 지각의 왜곡을 일으킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해 표기된 텍스트를 한국어 발음열로 변환, HMM 알고리듬을 이용한 입력 음성의 시분할, 한국어 음소에 따른 얼굴특징점의 3 차원 움직임을 정의하는 과정을 거쳐 텍스트와 음성를 통해 3 차원 대화 애니메이션을 생성하는 한국어 립싱크합성 시스템을 개발 실제 캐릭터 디자인과정에 적용하도록 하였다. 또한 본 연구는 즉시 적용이 가능한 3 차원 캐릭터 애니메이션뿐만 아니라 아바타를 활용한 동적 인터페이스의 요소기술로서 사용될 수 있는 선행연구이기도 하다. 즉 3 차원 그래픽스 기술을 활용하는 영상디자인 분야와 HCI 에 적용할 수 있는 양면적 특성을 지니고 있다. 휴먼 커뮤니케이션은 언어적 대화 커뮤니케이션과 시각적 표정 커뮤니케이션으로 이루어진다. 즉 페이셜애니메이션의 적용은 보다 인간적인 휴먼 커뮤니케이션의 양상을 지니고 있다. 결국 인간적인 상호작용성이 강조되고, 보다 편한 인간적 대화 방식의 휴먼 인터페이스로 그 미래적 양상이 변화할 것으로 예측되는 아바타를 활용한 인터페이스 디자인과 가상현실 분야에 보다 폭넓게 활용될 수 있다.

A Black and White Comics Generation Procedure for the Video Frame Image using Region Extension based on HSV Color Model (HSV 색상 모델과 영역 확장 기법을 이용한 동영상 프레임 이미지의 흑백 만화 카투닝 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we discuss a simple and straightforward binarization procedure which can generate black/white comics from the video frame image. Generally, the region of human's skin is colored white or light gray, while the dark region is filled with the irregular but regular patterns like hatching in most of the black/white comics. Note that it is not enough for simple threshold method to perform this work. Our procedure is decoupled into four processes. First, we use bilateral filter to suppress noise color variation and reserve boundaries. Then, we perform mean-shift segmentation for each similar colored pixels to be clustered. Third, the clustered regions are merged and extended by our region extension algorithm considering each color of their regions. Finally, we decide which pixels are on or off using by our dynamic binarization method based on the HSV color model. Our novel black/white cartooning procedure was so successful to render comic cuts from a well-known cinema in a resonable time and manual intervention.

  • To create gesture from a new text input is an important problem in computer games and virtual reality. Recently, there is increasing interest in gesture stylization to imitate the gestures of celebrities, such as announcer. However, no attempt has been made so far to stylize a gestures using emotion such as happiness and sadness. Previous researches have not focused on real-time algorithm. In this paper, we present a system to automatically make gesture animation from SMS text and stylize the gesture from emotion. A key feature of this system is a real-time algorithm to combine gestures with emotion. Because the system's platform is a mobile phone, we distribute much works on the server and client. Therefore, the system guarantees real-time performance of 15 or more frames per second. At first, we extract words to express feelings and its corresponding gesture from Disney video and model the gesture statistically. And then, we introduce the theory of Laban Movement Analysis to combine gesture and emotion. In order to evaluate our system, we analyze user survey responses.

In order for with effect of the illumination which is irregular in the present paper America the illumination to range evenly in the face which is detected, detects a face territory, Complemented the result which detects only the front face of existing. With LAB color illumination revisions compared in Adaboost face detection of existing and 32% was visible the face detection result which improves. Bought two images which are input and executed Glassfire label rings. Compared Area critical price and became the area of above critical value and revised from RGB smooth anger and LAB images with LCFD system algorithm. The operational conversion image which is extracted like this executed a face territory detection in the object. In order to extract the feature which is necessary to a face detection used AdaBoost algorithms. The face territory remote login with the face territory which tilts in the present paper, until Multi-view face territory detections was possible. Also relationship without high detection rate seems in direction of illumination, With only the public PC application is possible was given proof user authentication field etc.

A Study on Mask-based Edge Detection Algorithm using Morphology (모폴로지를 이용한 마스크 기반 에지 검출 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this digital information era, utilization of images are essential for various media, and the edge is an important characteristical information of an object in images that includes the size, location, direction and etc. Many domestic and international studies are being conducted in order to detect these edge. Existing edge detection methods include Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian, LoG and etc. which apply fixed weight value. As these existing edge detection methods apply fixed weight mask to the image, edge detection characteristic appears slightly insufficient. Accordingly, in order to supplement these problems, this study used bottom-hat transformation from mathematical morphology and opening operation in improving the image and proposed an algorithm that detects for the edge after calculating mask-based gradient. And to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, a comparison was made against the existing Sobel, Roberts, Prewitt, Laplacian, LoG edge detection methods, in illustrating visual images, and similarities were compared by calculating the MSE value based on the standard of each image.
