  • The conventional simple-injection and unilateral-learning methods have the great disadvantages in special education outcomes for intellectual disabilities student. In this paper, we propose a digital micro-mirror system that learners themselves can manipulate the contents by using the various technology on user-interaction and augmented reality. Through the verification tests conducted by special education professionals, it is confirmed that the proposed commercial system can be used as a useful system in the special learning fields requiring high immersion.

  • Although the school-age population is continuously decreasing, the number of people eligible for special education is increasing every year. Special schools, which are comprised entirely of students with special education needs, are vulnerable due to restrictions on evacuation in the event of a fire. However, the characteristics of special schools are not reflected in the plans related to firefighting and safety in special schools. In this study, essential items such as placement of helpers were selected through analysis of firefighting and school safety plans and collection of faculty and staff opinions. Afterwards, through analysis of experts' opinions, a basic fire evacuation scenario was presented that reflected the characteristics of special schools. We hope that this scenario will contribute to the development of customized fire evacuation scenarios for each special school in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the paths of the presence that influences the use of the virtual simulation in the special education classrooms. The participants consisted of 76 students who majored in special education in J and K universities. Participants took a three lectures of 3-h. that addressed the theory and practice of virtual technology such as virtual reality(VR) and augmented reality(AR), and then completed the questionnaires on participants' presence level and expectation level of virtual simulation for special education. Study results were as followings: (1) Enjoyment and Communication have direct effects on positive expectation, while Immersion has a direct effect on negative concern; (2) Reality, Accessibility Performance, Communication, and Immersion have indirect effects mediated by Enjoyment on positive expectation; and (3) Communication and Reality have indirect effects mediated by Immersion on negative concern. Lastly, the implications and suggestions for future research were presented.

  • This study aims to development and validation a tool to measure physical education teaching anxiety(PETA) among preservice special teacher. In order to achieve this study purpose, first, the preliminary items for measurement scale were collected through open-ended questions and were developed by inductive content analysis from the 100 preservice special teacher. Second, investigation for construct validity was conducted on exploratory factor analysis from the 100 preservice special teacher. Third, in the final process, verify exernal validity was conducted by confirmatory factor analysis and t-test from the 300 presevice special teacher. As a result, the measurement scale of physical education teaching anxiety(PETA) among preservice special teacher consists of 4 main factors with 14 items: pedagogical content knowledge(n=4), understanding students(n=4), class environment(n=3), class management(n=3) factors and this scale has enough suitability.

  • New education methodologies exploiting new media technologies are emerging with the development of digital technology. There also have been researches on efficient methods to apply new technologies on special education. In this paper, we analyze 32 researches associated with application of new media technology on special education for research theme, media, and teaching types. The analysis results show that there is few research on intervention contents which consider special education environment and the roll of teacher. This motivates us to develop a social storytelling contents to improve sociality of the children with developmental disability which can be easily useable in special education environment. The basic structure of the contents is designed for a child to make a choice in the meantime of storytelling and experience the different results depending on the choice. The pilot test with a child with mild autism verifies that it draws attention from the child and it is easy to use in a special education environment, which lays down the possibility as an intervention content.
