최근 한-유럽간 대륙간 정보통신망인 트랜스유라시아망(TEIN)이 구축됨에 따라, 이에 대한 적극적이고 효율적인 활용이 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 트랜스유라시아망에 대한 이해와 함께 최근 차세대인터넷기술을 중심으로 이루어지고 있는 활용 동향을 전자통신연구원에서 활용 사례를 중심으로 알아보며, 나아가서 향후 발전 방향을 제시한다.

TransEurasia Information Network(TEIN) was established at December 2001, which is a kind of continental network between Korean and Europe. For promoting the TEIN, ETRI has developed the IPv6-based NGI network and applications since early of 2001, and also trying to apply the results into TEIN. With this results for IPv6 research and development as well as its experiences, we can verify the IPv6 related technology and applications on the TEIN as a NGI infrastructure.

IPv6 프로토콜은 차세대인터넷에서 사용될 것이고 이미 실용화 단계에 와 있다 관련 기술의 표준화와 기본 네트워킹 장비개발 등은 어느 정도 이루어진 상태이나, 망을 적극 활용할 수 있는 응용의 부재로 사용자 및 ISP들의 적극적인 사용을 이끌어내지 옷하고 있는 실정이다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 IPv6 활성화를 위해 최근 전자통신연구원에서 개발한 IPv6 기반의 비디오 스트리밍 시스템의 설계 및 구현 내용과 6TALK[7]을 이용한 IPv6 서비스 예제를 소개하며, 트랜스유라시아망(TEIN)[6]을 이용한 한-EU간의 국제 시연 내용을 소개한다.

In the paper, we describe the IPv6-based multicast videoconferencing tool and it's experimental results by using TEM (TransEurasia Information Network) which is connected between Korea and Europe recently. And we explain the efficient configuration method of IPv6 multicast as well as IPv6 configured tunneling in between Korea and Europe.

In this paper, we propose the new experimental using gif tunneling based on IPv4 and IPv6. HVIC developed by ETRI-SNU and vic, net by UCL in England were used during the tests. The networks used in this experiments are TEIN (TEIN:TransEurasia Information Network) that recently established between Korea and Europe and ATM-based IPv6 native network which connecting among ETRI, KOREN, SNU. We take following three scenarios into account. The one is the IPv6 tunneling based on IPv4, the other is IPv6 tunneling on IPv6 network, and the third is IPv6 native network based on ATM we propose the new experimental method using gif tunneling between IPv4 and IPv6.
