  • MPLS which integrates routing of layer 3 and switching of layer 2, enables support for fast forwarding, traffic engineering and virtual private network services. GSMP is open interface protocol between a label switch and a controller, and it provides connection, configuration, event, performance management and synchronization. In the GSMP open interface, the functions of network management can be located either in the controller or in the label switch. To simplify the label switch and enhance the efficiency of resources, we adopt the network management model, in which the SNMP agent is located in the controller and is interworked with the GSMP. We presented the interworking scenrios between the GSMP and the network management of MPLS. We implemented the controller to verify the realization of our adopted network management model, and measured the connection setup delay of the provisioned connection.

  • PSTN (public switched telephone network) provides voice communication service, whereas IP network provides data oriented service, and we can use IP network for multimedia transport service (e.g. voice over IP service) with economic price. In this paper, we propose RoIP (robot on IP) service scenario, signaling call flow, and implementation to provide home automation and monitoring service for remote site users. In our scheme, we used a extended SIP (session initiation protocol) for signaling protocol between remote site users and home robots. For our bearer transport control, we implemented H.263 video codec over RTP (real-time transport protocol) and additionally DTMF (dual tone multi-frequency) transport for robot actuator control. We implemented our scheme on home robots and experimented with KTF operator network, and it shows good communication quality (average MOS = 9.15) and flexible robot controls.

  • Recent research on energy harvesting wireless sensor networks focuses on the development of techniques to solve the limited energy resource problem and to extend the whole network life efficiently. Energy harvesting technology can increase the lifetime of a network, but data transmission becomes unavailable when it harvests energy from radio frequency, resulting longer network delay with respect to the increased time in energy harvesting. Therefore, building energy harvesting wireless sensor network should consider the possible network delay as well as the network lifetime problem. In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol that minimizes end-to-end network delay by adjusting the data transmission time for a packet based on estimating the energy for data transmission along with the amount of traffic flowing into the network and harvested energy. For this goal, it engineers an energy management mechanism that adjusts the sleep time of the network by measuring energy harvesting time. In addition, with simulation results it shows that the proposed MAC protocol improves the performance in terms of energy consumption and end-to-end delay, compared to the existing MAC protocols.

  • Recently, a social issue has arisen involving RDDoS attacks following the sending of threatening emails to security administrators of companies and institutions. According to a report published by the Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT, survey results indicate that DDoS attacks are increasing. However, the top response in the survey highlighted the difficulty in countering DDoS attacks due to issues related to security personnel and costs. In responding to DDoS attacks, administrators typically detect anomalies through traffic monitoring, utilizing security equipment and programs to identify and block attacks. They also respond by employing DDoS mitigation solutions offered by external security firms. However, a challenge arises from the initial failure in early response to DDoS attacks, leading to frequent use of detection and mitigation measures. This issue, compounded by increased costs, poses a problem in effectively countering DDoS attacks. In this paper, we propose a system that creates detection rules, periodically collects traffic using mail detection and IDS, notifies administrators when rules match, and Based on predefined threshold, we use IPS to block traffic or DDoS mitigation. In the absence of DDoS mitigation, the system sends urgent notifications to administrators and suggests that you apply for and use of a cyber shelter or DDoS mitigation. Based on this, the implementation showed that network traffic was reduced from 400 Mbps to 100 Mbps, enabling DDoS response. Additionally, due to the time and expense involved in modifying detection and blocking rules, it is anticipated that future research could address cost-saving through reduced usage of DDoS mitigation by utilizing artificial intelligence for rule creation and modification, or by generating rules in new ways.

  • Current TCP/IP-based Internet architecture has been used for over 30 years, however it will confront with fundamental problems due to new protocol extension limitation since communication environments will change drastically and various user requirements will be emerging in near future. To solve these problems, major countries have started Future Internet researches based on clean slate approach and they will deploy large-scale testbed to experiment and verify new functions. OpenFlow switch technology has been proposed as a new experimental technology for independent protocol that can utilized the legacy network devices and does not interfere with the production Internet traffic. Korea also started Future Internet testbed project called FIRST and OpenFlow switch with NetFPGA card will be used to deploy this testbed. To interconnect distributed testbed using OpenFlow switches, logical tunnel should be established by encapsulating MAC frame inside a unicast IP packet between OpenFlow switches because OpenFlow switches are not directly connected. In this paper, we have implemented a NetFPGA-based that performs MAC in IP tunneling between various OpenFlow switch sites implemented in domestic research network KOREN. The performance evaluation shows that the NetFPGA-based capsulator reveals better performance than the software-based tunneling and it can be utilized as a testbed for experimentation of Future Internet technologies.

  • To transmit vital signal stream of mobile patients remotely, it requires mobility of patient and watcher, sensing function of patient's abnormal symptom and self-organizing service binding of related computing resources. In the existing relative researches, the vital signal stream is transmitted as a centralized approach which exposure the single point of failure itself and incur data traffic to central server although it is localized service. Self-organizing middleware platform based on heterogenous overlay network is a middleware platform which can transmit real-time data from sensor device(including vital signal measure devices) to Smartphone, TV, PC and external system through overlay network applied self-organizing mechanism. It can transmit and save vital signal stream from sensor device autonomically without arbitration of management server and several receiving devices can simultaneously receive and display through interaction of nodes in real-time.

  • In this paper we analyze the performance of an adaptive sector cell system, which is adopted to maintain the traffic balance between sectors and to utilize the cell resources effectively, using the data collected from real channel environments. In the data measurements, we transmitted the QPSK modulated signal with carrier frequency of 1.95GHz and received the signals using the 8x4 array antenna equipped on the top of buildings in the urban area. We analyzed the angular distribution and the delay spread of a user signal and analyzed angular distribution of mobile users in a cell using the collected data. Also, we propose the vector channel modeling using the estimated pdf(probability distribution function) of the analyzing results. Through the proposed channel modeling the improvement of the call blocking rate was analyzed when using the adaptive sector cell system, and computer simulations show that the call blocking rate of the adaptive sector cell system was much lower than that of the fixed sector cell system. Additionally, it shows that the call blocking rate increases severely in the fixed sector cell system while the difference of the call blocking rate was smaller in the adaptive sector cell system, as the user density of the spatial distribution increases.

  • In this paper, we compare and analyze data aggregation methods based on event area in wireless sensor networks. Data aggregation methods consist of two methods: the direct transmission method and the aggregation node method. The direct aggregation method has some problems that are data redundancy and increasing network traffic as all nodes transmit own data to neighbor nodes regardless of same data. On the other hand the aggregation node method which aggregate neighbor's data can prevent the data redundancy and reduce the data. This method is based on location of nodes. This means that the aggregation node can be selected the nearest node from a sink or the centered node of event area. So, we describe the benefits of data aggregation methods that make up for the weak points of direct data dissemination of sensor nodes. We measure energy consumption of the existing ways on data aggregation selection by increasing event area. To achieve this, we calculated the distance between an event node and the aggregation node and the distance between the aggregation node and a sink node. And we defined the equations for distance. Using these equations with energy model for sensor networks, we could find the energy consumption of each method.
