  • The Dynamic Channel Assignment have a detect which satisfy lots of conditions. It makes system efficiency depreciate because the Dynamic Channel Assignment executes computation process of several steps that demands lots of time. In this paper, we have proposed a traffic control algorithm which makes simple computation process for improving the detect.

  • In ATM network there exist several traffics according to QoS, such as CBR, rt-VBR, nrt-VBR, UBR, and ABR. Many studies have done at the traffic management of ABR which uses the unused network bandwidth. Many flow control mechanisms have proposed to use efficiently the unused bandwidth. In TMWG(Traffic Management Working Group) of ATM Forum, there exist rate-based, credit-based, and mixture of them to manage flow control of ABR traffic. Among these, rate-based mechanisms adopted as standard because it is flexible and also makes it possible to implement ATM switch with low price and high capacity. In this paper, we study the switch that uses EFCI, ER and VS/VD(Virtual Source/Virtual Destination) with rate-based mechanism. Instead of using queue threshold, we propose a new algorithm which uses bandwidth threshold of input stage of switch, and manages efficiently ABR traffic with EPRCA algorithm.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 지상 ATM망의 제어기법을 바탕으로 위성망으로 확대 적용할 수 방안으로 기존의 지상 ATM망의 막힘제어 기법중 ERICA스위치 알고리즘을 적용하였으며, 기존의 ERICA스위치 알고리즘은 지상과 위성간의 긴 전파지연시간을 고려하지 않아 위성내의 막힘을 알려주는 정보가 지구국까지 전달되어 다시 위성에 전달될 때 위성의 막힘 상태변화로 인한 손실이 발생할 수 있다 본 논문에서는 이러한 손실을 피하기 위한 제어구조에 대해서 다루었다.

  • In this paper, a contention-based reservation access control algorithm and a slot allocation algorithm are proposed for non-real-time bursty traffic services in the wireless ATM networks. In order to reduce the collisions of the reservation request packets, the base station scheduler calculates the transmission probability using the number of RAS minislots and the estimated load of the reservation request packets. And it broadcasts the calculated transmission probability over the downlink control channel. Mobile terminals, which have traffic burst, select randomly a RAS minislot and transmit the reservation request packet by the received transmission probability. The reservation request packet contains the number of packets in the buffer. The slot allocation is based on the buffer status of the received reservation request packets. The base station scheduler allocates slots in proportion to the total number of slots that are requested by each terminal.

  • This paper proposes a simple and highly effective RACMC(Real-time ATM Cell Monitoring and Control) algorithm and the resulting bandwidth gain effects art considered. RACMC algorithm performs usage parameter controls according to the monitoring informations of input data cells generated from the accepted connections and the controlling informations set by the M/P(Management Plane) for that connection. The results of monitoring and controlling actions for ATM data cells are transmitted to the M/P and the control parameters in lookup table are updated according to the condition of currently used bandwith. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can allocate network resource optimally and solve the several tantalizing problems that the existing cell control algorithm have, that is, the difficulty in controlling as monitoring very bursty traffics, unavoidable processing delay, and limited input buffer size when implemented. By the performance analysis using computer simulation, RACMC algorithm proves to be very effective especially in ATM network as implemented simply.

  • We propose a dynamic traffic management model which uses adaptive priority reassignment algorithm to deliver service differentiation in home networks, and implement adaptive priority reassignment algorithm using FPGA. The proposed architecture is designed to handle home network traffic without the need for signaling protocol. We categorize home network traffic into three kinds of traffic class: control data traffic class, the Internet data and non-real-time data traffic class, and multimedia data traffic class (include non-real-time and real-time multimedia data traffic). To support differential service about these kinds of traffic class, we designed and implemented a traffic management framework that dynamically change each traffic class priority depending on bandwidth utilization of each traffic class.

  • A real-time frame-layer rate control algorithm with a token bucket traffic shaper is proposed for minimizing video duality variation. The proposed rate control method uses a non-iterative optimization method for low computational complexity, and performs bit allocation at the frame level to minimize variation in distortion between frames. In order to reduce the quality fluctuation, we use a sliding window scheme which does not require the pre-analysis process. Therefore, the proposed algorithm does not produce the delay from encoding, and is suitable for real-time low-complexity video encoder. Experimental results indicate that the proposed control method provides better PSNR performance than the existing rate control method.

  • HFC(Hybrid Fiber Coax)망은 광케이블 구간과 동축케이블 구간으로 나뉘어져 있으며 광케이블 구간은 성형(Star)구조를 가지며 동축케이블 전송구간은 수지분기형(Tree and Branch)구조로 되어있다. HFC망의 상향채널은 가입자에서 헤드앤드로 데이터 전송 시 500가입자 이상이 공유하기 때문에 이를 제어하기 위한 매체접근제어(Medium Access Control)프로토콜이 필요하다. 특히, 음성, 비디오 그리고 데이터와 같은 트래픽의 QoS(Quality of Service)를 만족시키기 위해서는 서비스별로 우선 순위를 고려한 충돌해결알고리즘이 요구되어진다. 그러므로, 본 논문에서는 기존 알고리즘의 문제점을 분석하여 트래픽 특성에 따라 우선순위를 제공하는 충돌해결알고리즘을 제안하였다.

  • Home gateway is always full-powered for ubiquitous home services, and consumes much energy yearly. Power-saving algorithm to conserve this energy must reduce the energy consumption and preserve always-on services. Our algorithm predicts current idle period using the history of the past idle period when the idle period starts, and then determines whether the power mode is changed to the saving mode or not. On the power saving mode, it processes the simple protocol data for network control using proxying with no wakeup. And it changes the power mode to active mode when user's traffic exists. As the results of the simulation using real traffic, our algorithm saves the energy consumption from 14% to 49% as compared with existing method.

  • In this thesis, a policing algorithm is proposed, which is one of the traffic management function in ATM networks. The proposed algorithm minimizes CLR(Cell Loss patio) of high priority cells and solves burstiness problem of the traffic caused by multiplexing and demultiplexing process. The proposed algorithm has been implemented with VHDL and is divided into three parts, which are an input module, an UPC module, and an output module. In implementation of the UPC module\`s memory access, memory address is assigned according to VCI\`s LSB(Lowest Significant Byte) of ATM header for convenience. And the error of VSA operation from counter\`s wrap-around can be recovered by the proposed method. ANAM library 0.25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and design compiler of Synopsys are used for synthesis of the algorithm and Synopsys VSS tool is used for VHDL simulation of it
