The Performance Analysis of Mobile Data Traffic Offload using LIPA in Femtocell Networks (펨토셀 네트워크에서 LIPA를 이용한 모바일 데이터 트래픽 오프로드 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we first introduce a mobile data traffic offload method called Local IP Access (LIPA) with femtocell networks. Then, we evaluate the traffic transmission time and probability of mobile data traffic that is transmitted to the core network (CN) when mobile devices transmit the mobile data traffic to indoor devices in three different scenarios, i.e., conventional systems, femtocell based systems, and femtocell and LIPA based systems. Through performance results, it is shown that the next generation mobile network with the femtocell and LIPA not only decrease the density of the mobile data traffic in CNs but also reduce the total transmission time of the mobile data traffic in indoor environments. That is, for the traffic transmission time, the conventional systems and femtocell based systems have 3 and 4 times higher than the femtocell and LIPA based systems, respectively, when the Internet delay is 10ms while 14 and 26 times higher than that, respectively, when the Internet delay is 100ms.

  • In this paper, the traffic control scheme used by M-cancel-Get services In CMIS /CMIP, OSI network management protocol, is presented and the performance is analyzed. M -Get service which allows a multiple response functional unit is a service that searches an attribute of the managed sys-tem and the service requires a large quantity of response as its typical characteristics. At the time, management response is transmitted Irrelevant to the network condition In the managed as well as In the management system. The management system requests M Canrel-Get service which informs the canrelation of M -Get service (or Information retrieval. In case of using M-Cancel-Get service for traffic control, the point of time for traffic control is propose by the result of simulation on management response time as the number of multiple response packets is Increased. The result is analyzed by processing ratio of the network workload and the average delay time of packets. As a result, the traffic control parameters proposed in the study show superiority in its processing ratio and the average packet delay time. Especially, its performance improves as the size of background traffic density Increase.

  • Due to a development of the cable/wireless network infra, the traffic as big as unable to compare with the past is being served through the internet, the traffic is increasing every year following the change of the network paradigm such as the object internet, especially the traffic of about 1.6 zettabyte is expected to be distributed through the network in 2018. As the network traffic increases, the performance of the security infra is developing together to deal with the bulk terabyte traffic in the security equipment, and is generating hundreds of thousands of security events every day such as hacking attempt and the malignant code. Efficiently analyzing and responding to an event on the attack attempt detected by various kinds of security equipment of company is one of very important assignments for providing a stable internet service. This study attempts to overcome the limit of study such as the detection of Tor network traffic using the existing low-latency by classifying the anonymous network by means of the suggested algorithm about the event detected in the security infra.

  • Internet traffic volume has been increasing rapidly due to popularization of various smart devices and Internet development. In particular, HTTP-based traffic volume of smart devices is increasing rapidly in addition to desktop traffic volume. The increased mobile traffic can cause serious problems such as network overload, web security, and QoS. In order to solve these problems of the Internet overload and security, it is necessary to accurately detect applications. Traditionally, well-known port based method is utilized in traffic classification. However, this method shows low accuracy since P2P applications exploit a TCP/80 port, which is used for the HTTP protocol; to avoid firewall or IDS. Signature-based method is proposed to solve the lower accuracy problem. This method shows higher analysis rate but it has overhead of signature generation. Also, previous signature-based study only analyzes applications in HTTP protocol-level not application-level. That is, it is difficult to identify application name. Therefore, previous study only performs protocol-level analysis. In this paper, we propose a signature generation method to classify HTTP-based traffics in application-level using the characteristics of typical semi HTTP header. By applying our proposed method to campus network traffic, we validate feasibility of our method.

  • In this paper, we propose the realtime network traffic monitoring system usin SNMP that can supported network and system operation, management, expansion, and design using network analysis and diagnosis to a network administrator. The proposed system consists of two parts: analysis server for collection and analysis of the network information, and supports real-time monitoring of network traffic, and client system shows user a graphical data that analyzed a returned result from the server. This system implements web-based technology using Java and contributes to enhance the effectiveness of network administrator's management.

  • In this paper we present two databases for two different systems each having novel implementation ideas: a u-Healthcare system with a mobile gateway and MAGI network monitoring system. u-Healthcare system is capturing and monitoring vital sign data without restrictions of location and time using body sensor network and a mobile gateway. MAGI is a system which has a dynamic firewall function and solves problems of existing traffic monitoring tools. In addition to presenting the design principles behind these two systems, we describe the respective database schemas together with detailed information of the data stored within the databases. We will also show and discuss performance measurements and calculations for both systems. Based on the performance data we will discuss the systems' suitability for their intended uses.

  • The importance of efficient enterprise network management has been emphasized continuously because of the rapid utilization of Internet in a limited resource environment. For the efficient network management, the management policy that reflects the characteristics of a specific network extracted from long-term traffic analysis is essential. However, the long-term traffic data could not be handled in the past and there was only simple analysis with the shot-term traffic data. However, as the big data analytics platforms are developed, the long-term traffic data can be analyzed easily. Recently, enterprise network resource efficiency through the long-term traffic analysis is required. In this paper, we propose the methods of collecting, storing and managing the long-term enterprise traffic data. We define several classification categories, and propose a novel network resource efficiency through the multidirectional statistical analysis of classified long-term traffic. The proposed method adopted to the campus network for the evaluation. The analysis results shows that, for the efficient enterprise network management, the QoS policy must be adopted in different rules that is tuned by time, space, and the purpose.

  • In this paper, we consider the following two issues for implementing the synchronous Ethernet systems. First, a synchronous Ethernet system employs a fixed size superframe which is divided into a synchronous period and an asynchronous one. We note that the starting point of a superframe is not deterministic when an ordinary data frame's transmission is overlapped the superframe boundary. This overlap may be a fatal drawback for strict jitter bounded applications. Circumventing the problem, we propose a frame fragmentation scheme to provide a zero jitter, and compare its delay performance with the hold scheme which also provides the zero jitter. We next concern that IEEE 802.3x pause frames cannot be promptly transmitted in a synchronous period, and thus asynchronous traffics may be dramatically get dropped at the input buffer of a switch. To handle the problem, we propose an efficient flow control by allowing the transmission of the pause frame in a synchronous period, and investigate the blocking probability of the asynchronous traffics by the simulation.

  • It is generally recognized that Video On Demand (VOD) service will become a promising interactive service in the emerging broadband integrated services digital networks. A centralized VOD system, all programs are stored in a single VOD server which is linked to each user via exchanges, is applicable when a small number of users enjoys the VOD service. However, in case of large service penetration, it is very important to solve the problems of bandwidth and load concentrating in the central video server(CVS) and program transmission network. In this paper, the architecture of the video distribution service network is studied, then a traffic characteristics and models for VOD system are established, and proposed program allocation method to video servers. For this purpose, we present an analysis of program storage amount in each LVS(Local Video Server), transmission traffic volume between LVSs, and link traffic volume between CVS and LVSs, according to changing the related factors such as demand, the number of LVS, vision probability, etc. A method for finding out storage capacity in LVSs is also presented on the basis of the tradeoffs among program storage cost, link traffic cost, and transmission cost.

  • 본 논문은 CincoNet사의 Netxray 3.0.1을 통해 실시간 운영중인 동의대학교 종합 정보통신망(DEUNET)의 성능을 분석하고 평가한다. 기존의 네트워크 성능분석이 모의실험이나 트래픽 이론을 통해 분석한 경우가 대부분이므로, 실제 운영중인 네트워크의 성능과는 많은 차이가 날 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 수식적인 이론전개를 통한 성능 분석보다는 실제적인 측정을 통해 교내 망의 시간별 이용률과 사용하는 프로토콜의 현황과 트래픽 특성을 정성적으로 접근하였으며, 교내망인 동의대학교 종합정보통신망(DEUNET)을 모델로 삼았다. 이러한 분석방법은 네트워크의 설계와 증설 및 고장수리에 아주 중요한 기초자료로 사용될 것이다.
