등가정하중을 이용한 튜브 하이드로포밍 공정 최적설계에 관한 기초연구 (Preliminary Study on Optimization of the Tube Hydroforming Process Using the Equivalent Static Loads)

  • 본 논문은 등가정하중을 이용하여 튜브 하이드로포밍 공정을 위한 최적설계를 제안한다. 튜브 하이드로포밍 공정의 최적설계는 유체의 압력과 축 방향 압입량에 대한 적절한 하중경로를 결정하고, 이를 통하여 성형해석 후 결함이 없는 원하는 형상의 제품을 얻는 것을 목적으로 한다. 그러나 기존의 등가정하중법은 하중을 설계변수로 고려하지 못한다. 또한 튜브 하이드로포밍 공정의 최적설계에서 고려하는 비선형 두께 응답을 고려하기 위한 최적화가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 튜브 하이드로포밍 공정의 최적설계에 적합한 새로운 등가정하중을 제시한다. 또한 새로운 등가정하중을 이용한 최적설계 프로세스를 제시한다. 제시한 최적설계방법의 사용 가능성은 예제를 통하여 확인한다.

  • A tube hydroformability testing system was designed and manufactured to observe the forming steps and to provide arbitrary combination of internal pressure and axial feed. The forming limit diagram of an aluminum tube was obtained from the free bulge test and the T-shape forming test using this system, giving the criteria for predicting failure in the hydroforming process. The hydroformability of aluminum tube according to different conditions of a prebending process was discussed, based on the finite element analysis and the forming limit test. The effects of 2D and 3D prebending on the tube hydroforming process of an automotive failing arm were evaluated and compared with each other.

  • Recently social demands of fuel economy and environmental regulations require the development of light materials and new manufacturing technologies. In this point, the aluminum tube hydroforming process which is satisfied with good strength-to-weight ratio and recyclability is innovative concept. However the level of the aluminum tube hydroforming technology is low in comparison with that of steel tube hydroforming. In this paper, the hydroformability of aluminum tubes in different heat treatments is presented. Theoretical results for forming limits of the wrinkling and bursting are compared with experimental results of aluminum tubes.

  • Tube hydroforming is a relatively new technology in comparison with conventional stamping process. Thus, there is no large knowledge base to assist the product and process designers, especially from the friction point of view. This paper covers the topic of friction and lubrication with regard to tube hydroforming. It presents the fact that frictional characteristic can have an effect on the formability of specific components. The presented concept describes the equipment which is required to determine the friction coefficient. Some example results of the friction and bulge test are shown.

  • Recently the hydroforming technology has drawn a lot of attention because of its capability to produce high quality and light weight parts. In the present study, the tube expansion - one of the simplest hydroforming processes, has been investigated in order to understand fundamental phenomena such as deformation characteristics and effect of process parameters. As a result, the most important process parameters, which determine the state of stress at the expanded zone, were found to be pressure and die displacement. If the stress becomes equi-axial tension at the zone, necking occurs at some distance from the weld line and develops into a crack along the axial direction. Some aspects of mechanical property measurements as well as distributions of hardness and microstructure are also discussed in this paper.

튜브 하이드로 피어싱시 롤 오버의 실험적 분석 (Analysis on Roll Over in the Tube Hydro-Piercing Process)

  • During the tube hydropiercing, the region adjacent to the pierced hole will be deformed and will be drawn away from the die block as the punch advances through the wall of the tube. The deformation in the region may range from a substantially flat form to a countersunk form, so called rollover. In this study, the effects of material properties, shape of piercing punches, roundness of tube surface and internal pressure within the tube during piercing on the rollover have been investigated experimentally. The results provide the quantitative variation of rollover at given hydropiercing parameters, and a relationship between the deformed radius and the rollover caused by the deformation has been established.

  • Automotive rear subframe of aluminum tube was developed by using hydroforming process, based on the numerical analysis and physical tryouts. In the previous study, the effect of prebending was evaluated on the basis of forming limit diagram which had been obtained from free bulging, T-shape forming and cross-shape forming, using the developed tube hydroformability testing system. In order to get the sound products, appropriate internal pressure is to be imposed corresponding to the axial feeding. In this study, the loading path, the combination of internal pressure and axial feeding during the process, was optimized to ensure minimum thickness variation and dimensional accuracy, by using response surface method.
