This study is VE LCC case analysis on two school BTL projects which is constructed by Private sector and rented to government. Then private sector payback their initial cost and profit by rental fee from government. The VE in Korea, revised by the method of the Construction Technique - Enforcement Ordinance in 2005 is applicable to construction business which size is over 10 billion won. The VE well known as a way of productivity elevation is already proven and outstanding management method In construction industry inside and outside of the courtly. As its unique personality of BTL business, VE workshop period is too short. There is a few accomplished BTL project and data base, because BTL business begun from year of 2006. So we are trying to proof effect of VE LCC through case study of school BTL projects.
A detailed database of waste heat is built to propose energy exchange networks to recover waste energy in Pohang Steel Industrial Complex. A visualized technique is used to figure out the status of waste heat energy and to suggest potential energy exchange networks. Several energy networks are proposed in terms of temperature level, the amount of available energy, distance, and construction cost. A simple economical assessment is applied to the energy exchange networks which have higher economic potential. Their average payback period is estimated to be 2.8 years. The total amount of energy saving by constructing the proposed energy exchange networks is 4,778 TOE per year. It corresponds to 11,160 ton $CO_2$ reduction with the assumption that the recycled waste energy replaces the use of LNG in energy-demanding companies.
One of the world's top resource-rich countries, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has ample reserves of cobalt, iron ore, copper and diamond in particular. Importing most of major mineral resources, the Republic of Korea has examined-together with the Congo government since 2008-the possibility of a project where it supports port construction in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and acquires useful minerals such as zinc, cobalt and copper in exchange through slag reprocessing in the local city of Lubumbashi. This study conducted feasibility analysis on the slag reprocessing project in Lubumbashi, Congo and found that the project's payback period stands at 6.7 years, net present value(NPV) at 34 million dollars and internal rate of return(IRR) at 17.4%. According to sensitivity analysis that takes into account uncertainties concerning taxation, fixed cost, operational cost and resource prices, the NPV of the project ranges from -24.8 million dollars to 92.7 million dollars.
We studied the economic evaluations on Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER)'s $CO_2$ capture process using dry sorbents, and compared the results with those of comparable technologies. Capital and operating costs of the $CO_2$ capture system for 500 MW coal fired power plant were estimated to determine the economic feasibility. LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) and $CO_2$ capture cost appeared 32.46$/MWh and 28.15$/ton$CO_2$, respectively. The internal rate of return (IRR), the net present values (NPV), and the payback period (PBP), were calculated by assuming several variables. As the result of calculation, IRR of KIER's $CO_2$ capture system was 15%, NPV was calculated 6,631,000$, and PBP was 5.93 years at $50/t$CO_2$ of CER price. Consequently, this process can compete with other comparative processes using dry sorbents.
This study presented techno-economic analysis of a 500 MWe oxy-coal power plant with CO2 capture. The power plant included a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB), ultra-supercritical steam turbine, flue gas conditioning (FGC), air separation unit (ASU), and CO2 processing unit (CPU). The dry flue gas recirculation (FGR) was used to control the combustion temperature of CFB. One FGR heat exchanger, one heat exchanger for N2 stream exiting ASU, and a heat recovery from CPU compressor were considered to enhance heat efficiency. The decrease in the temperature difference (ΔT) of the FGR heat exchanger that means the increase in heat recovery from flue gas enhanced the electricity and exergy efficiencies. The annual cost including the FGR heat exchanger and FGC cooling water was minimized at ΔT = 10 ℃, where the electricity efficiency, total capital cost, total production cost, and return on investment were 39%, 1371 M$, 90 M$, and 7%/y, respectively.

The government introduced a mandatory installation system of new & renewable energy for public building to meet the target of greenhouse gas reduction and also suggest a correction factor for new renewable energy to expand the installation of various new & renewable energy systems. The introduction of correction factors, however, was followed by the reduction of installation size of new & renewable energy sources. Assuming that it was caused by a correction factor for each new renewable energy source calculated by the initial costs, this study proposed a new correction factor approach based on payback periods to reflect the technology element in the calculation process of correction factors additionally. The application results of new correction factors show that it was possible to do complex calculations including the economic and technological aspects to select a new & renewable energy system and that the installation size was also enlarged.

The objectives of this study are to analyze the performance of a heat pump system with the various heat source and to carry out economic assessment for the heat pump system. The COP of the river water and ground source heat pump system was 20% higher than that of the air source heat pump system because river water and geothermal provide stable operating temperature compared with air temperature throughout the year. In addition, the economic assessment of a heat pump system using air, river water, and geothermal as a heat source was carried out. The ratio of the life cycle operating cost to the life cycle cost increased with the increase of building capacity. The payback period was found to be less than 3.3 and 4.5 years, respectively when the capacity of the river water and ground source heat pump was larger than 10 RT.

The optimal capacity of CGS(Co-Generation Sys.) for APT. complex is 300kW output of electricity power from being considered the simple payback period, loss and benefit, and the running mode of CGS. The proper operation mode of CGS is as follows; If the demanding electricity load of APT. complex is within the range of capacity of generator(300kW), CGS is connected and operated with KEPCO grid. When the load ratio is over 50% of normal load of CGS(300kW), only CGS supply electricity demand. If not, the electricity line of CGS is exchanged to that of KEPCO.
