Study on Integrated-Flight Simulation Method Using CFT Imagery (탑재비행시험 영상을 적용한 통합비행 시뮬레이션 기법 연구)

  • It is indispensable for a missile to track a target under the flight condition since the tracking capability affects the system performance considerably. The best way to verify the tracker's performance is flight test while it costs too much. Consequently, captive flight test or CFT has an important role in the development of a missile system. CFT, however, cannot simulate missile dynamics and is an offline and open-loop test. In this paper, we propose a new integrated-flight simulation(IFS) method using CFT imagery to overcome the limitation of synthetic image-based IFS method. This method increases the utilization of CFT's outputs and compensates the reality of imagery which lacks in the synthetic image-based IFS. Using this method make it possible to verify the system capability in various simulation modes.

위성 편대비행을 위한 궤도와 자세 통합 시뮬레이터 시스템 개발

  • 위성 편대비행 시스템에서 궤도 및 자세의 결정과 제어를 동시에 시뮬레이션 할 수 있는 통합 시스템을 설계하고 개발하였다. 실제 위성에서는 궤도 제어가 수행되는 동안 자세는 계속 변한다. 그러므로 임무수행을 위해 편대위성들의 자세를 동기화하기 위해서는 편대위성들의 자세 결정과 제어가 필요하다. 이와 같이 실제와 같은 시뮬레이션을 위해서, 궤도 및 자세의 결정과 제어를 동시에 수행할 수 있는 통합된 시뮬레이터 시스템이 필요하다. 통합 시뮬레이터 시스템의 개발은 기존에 연세대학교에서 개발한 GPS 시뮬레이터를 이용한 편대비행 테스트베드와 하드웨어 자세 시뮬레이터를 각각 보완한 후 통합하는 방법으로 수행하였다. 이 두 시스템은 서로 독립적으로 개발되었기 때문에 통합을 위하여 하드웨어 인터페이스와 소프트웨어 인터페이스 부분으로 나누어 설계와 개발을 수행하고, 최종적으로 결합하는 절차로 통합을 완료하였다. 마지막으로 개발된 통합 시뮬레이터 시스템과 통합 시나리오를 사용하여 궤도와 자세를 동시에 시뮬레이션 하고, 이를 통해 개발된 통합 시스템을 검증하였다. 이 연구를 통해 개발된 궤도와 자세가 통합된 하드웨어 시뮬레이터 시스템은 실제 위성에 가까운 시뮬레이션을 수행할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 하드웨어와 소프트웨어 인터페이스에 대한 검증이 가능하고 실제의 하드웨어 특성으로부터 생기는 에러를 고려하여 알고리즘의 실제 성능을 평가할 수 있다.

Study of Integrated-Flight M&S Application for the Anti-Tank Missile Configuration Design (대전차 유도무기의 형상 설계에서의 통합비행 M&S 적용 연구)

  • 6-DOF flight simulation program is most generally used M&S tool in domestic missile development procedure. The 6-DOF M&S method, however, cannot validate the performance of a imaging seeker-adopted missile in various conditions. A M&S tool for the analysis of the integrated-flight simulation is required since the tracking performance of the imaging seeker is highly dependent on the missile maneuvering, which introduces the displacement and rotation of the target in the seeker imagery. Through the development of the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile, Raybolt, the integrated-flight M&S tool was developed and applied to the missile configuration design. It integrates synthetic image generation S/W, imaging tracker, and flight simulation program and computes the main system performance criteria, hit probability by Monte-Carlo Simulation. In this paper, the issues in the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile configuration and the integrated-flight M&S method and results are described.

  • An integrated flight simulation program for multicopter drones is presented. The program includes rigid body dynamics, propeller thrust, battery energy, control, and air. Using this program, users can monitor and analyze the states of drones along flight trajectories. As a programming language, Modelica has been chosen, that specializes in simulation program development. Modelica enables users to develop simulation programs efficiently due to acausal and object oriented properties. For missions including horizontal and vertical maneuvers, many dynamical states of drones have been analyzed with simulation results.

  • Modern aircraft are high-performance and lightweight. Thus, the characteristics of the flexible structure appear and affect flight performance or limit it. These flexible characteristics need to be analyzed from the early stages of aircraft design. To this end, a program to analyze the dynamic and static behavior of flexible aircraft has been developed and the results are presented. Based on the multi-body dynamics simulation technique, rigid flight mechanics, structural vibrating behavior, and unsteady aerodynamics have been developed and integrated. Lastly, the level flight and the turn flight of the flexible characteristic aircraft have been analyzed using this integrated simulation program.

  • The PID controller with fin angle and thrust as control input was designed based on the aerodynamic data of scramjet system. Flight simulation following a given trajectory which strike the target point after climb and cruise with constant dynamic pressure was conducted. After that, the required thrust for the climb and cruise was calculated and the required fuel flow rate for the hydrogen fuel dual mode scramjet combustor was analyzed. The combustor analysis of this study which conducted on integrated model of independently developed inlet, combustor, nozzles and external aerodynamic models, laying the foundation for the integrated design of the air breathing hypersonic system.

Study on On-Sight Image-Based Simulation Method for Predicting and Analyzing Flight Test Results of a Missile (유도무기의 비행시험 결과 예측 및 분석을 위한 현장 영상 기반 시뮬레이션 기법 연구)

  • In modern-war campaign, precision-guided missiles are dominantly used to minimize the collateral damage. Imaging infrared seekers are widely applied for the precise guidance. Due to the high cost of the infrared detector, the cost for the one-shot weapon's test is a burden for the development. To reduce the test cost, a simulation method including imagery tracking is required, which is so-called integrated-flight simulation(IFS). The synthetic image generation(SIG)-based simulation method is typically used, which however cannot represent various environmental and target conditions. In this paper, a new IFS method is proposed using on-sight measured image to overcome the limitations of the SIG-based IFS(SIIFS). The target image acquired at the launching sight has been used only for checking the performance criteria of the image tracker and has not been tried for IFS since it has low resolution and little information. The study described in this paper, however, shows that the on-sight image-based IFS can predict the pre- and mid-course flight performance quite similarly and is very useful for the flight test analysis.

Modelling of Fixed Wing UAV and Flight Control Computer Based Autopilot System Development for Integrated Simulation HILS Environment (고정익 UAV 모델링 및 비행조종컴퓨터 기반 오토파일럿 통합 시뮬레이션 HILS 환경 구축)

  • Fixed-wing UAVs have long endurance and range capabilities compared to other aerial platforms. These advantages led fixed-wing UAVs to become a popular platform for reconnaissance missions in the military. In this research, we modeled fixed-wing UAVs, including the landing gear model and developed a guidance and control system for flight control computers to construct a HILS environment. We also developed an autopilot system that includes automated take-off, cruise, and landing control for UAVs. We also retrived the Aerodynamic coefficients an UAV using Datcom and AVL software and used them for 6 degrees of freedom modeling. The Flight control computer calculates guidance commands using the Carrot chasing guidance law after distinguishing the condition of the UAV based on 16 pre-defined flight modes and calculates control inputs using Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (NDI) control scheme. We used RTNngine to integrate the Simulink model and flight control computer for HILS environment formulation.

A Preliminary Development of Real-Time Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation Testbed for the Satellite Formation Flying Navigation and Orbit Control (편대비행위성의 항법 및 궤도제어를 위한 실시간 Hardware-In-the-Loop 시뮬레이션 테스트베드 초기 설계)

  • The main purpose of the current research is to developments a real-time Hardware In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation testbed for the satellite formation flying navigation and orbit control. The HIL simulation testbed is integrated for demonstrations and evaluations of navigation and orbit control algorithms. The HIL simulation testbed is composed of Environment computer, GPS simulator, Flight computer and Visualization computer system. GPS measurements are generated by a SPIRENT GSS6560 multi-channel RF simulator to produce pseudorange, carrier phase measurements. The measurement date are transferred to Satrec Intiative space borne GPS receiver and exchanged by the flight computer system and subsequently processed in a navigation filter to generate relative or absolute state estimates. These results are fed into control algorithm to generate orbit controls required to maintain the formation. These maneuvers are informed to environment computer system to build a close simulation loop. In this paper, the overall design of the HIL simulation testbed for the satellite formation flying navigation and control is presented. Each component of the testbed is then described. Finally, a LEO formation navigation and control simulation is demonstrated by using virtual scenario.

Development of Operational Flight Program for Smart UAV (스마트무인기 비행운용프로그램 개발)

  • The operational flight program(OFP) which has the functions of I/O processing with avionics, flight control logic calculation, fault diagnosis and redundancy mode is embedded in the flight control computer of Smart UAV. The OFP was developed in the environment of PowerPC 755 processor and VxWorks 5.5 real-time operating system. The OFP consists of memory access module, device I/O signal processing module and flight control logic module, and each module was designed to hierarchical structure. Memory access and signal processing modules were verified from bench test, and flight control logic module was verified from hardware-in-the-loop simulation(HILS) test, ground integration test, tethered test and flight test. This paper describes development environment, software structure, verification and management method of the OFP.
