An Efficient Structure of The Integrated Solution to the Management of Technical Information (기술정보관리를 위한 통합솔루션의 효율적 구조)

  • 생산성 제고를 위하여 생산 현장에서 사용되는 여러 가지의 자료 즉, 다양한 형식의 화상(Image), CAD 자료, 도면, 표, 수식, 각종 문서 양식 및 문안들을 관리해주는 시스템이 필수적이다[1]. 그러나 다양한 종류의 자료들이 격리되어 관리되고 있는 상황에서는 원하는 정보를 찾거나, 자료간의 관련성을 알아내는데 많은 어려움을 겪지 않을 수 없다. 따라서 생산과정에서 필요한 여러 가지 자료들을 생성, 편집할 수 있는 도구와 각 자료들간의 관련성을 생성, 편집하는데 도움이 될 수 있는 방안, 마지막으로 생성된 여러 자료를 쉽게 찾도록 도와 주는 기능이 요구된다. 이와 같은 기술정보관리를 효율적이고 통합된 형태로 수행하기 위하여, 본연구에서는 기술정보관리시스템(TIMS : Technical Information Management System)을 구축하였다. 기술정보관리시스템은 개별 자료의 생성, 편집 및 개별 자료의 공유를 통한 복합문서 작성 부분, 개별 자료들 간의 관련성을 자동관리해 주는 부분 그리고 개별 자료들 간의 관련성을 통한 자료검색 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 기술정보의 효율적인 작성, 사용 및 관리를 지원하기 위한 통합 시스템의 각 구성부분에 요구되는 기능들과 전체 시스템의 효율성을 증대시키기 위한 방안을 논하였다. 격리되고 인력에 의존에 온 기술정보의 효율적인 작성, 사용 및 관리를 방대한 양의 자료들 속에서 통합적이며, 적합한 형태로 자동관리해줌으로써 생산성 제고에 기여할 수 있는 시스템으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • Today, as the Internet is popularized, information and news retrieval are generalized. However due to the tremendous amount and variety of information, many users appeal the difficulties of information retrieval. Thus in this paper, we propose a news retrieval system, which filters news articles using an intelligent agent with the learning ability of BPN (back propagation neural network). This system also uses a profile to accomodate the personalized news retrieval. This system consists of two major agents, collection agent and learning agent. The collection agent gathers the articles from several news sites, analyzes them, and stores into a database. The learning agent builds the BPN based on the personalized data. In addition, considering the popularity of the wireless internet due to the rapid development of communication technologies, we made this system provide the service through the wireless internet.

  • A literature analysis for the planning and realization of the multimedia meta database and digital library's integrated information system was carried out to establish the various oceanographic resources in the Oceanographic Information Center, the first in Korea. The study targeted from printed matter, network resources, full-text and to VOD. The focus of the analysis lies in the providing practical integrated information retrieval service for oceanographic resources based on the framework of effective MODS metadata with network resources description. The analyses included oceanographic resources, multimedia information processing, MODS metadata descriptive elements, metadata classification, system organization, and retrieval for planning and implementation of the multimedia meta database system.

Implementation and Design of WISD(Web Interface System based DICOM) for Efficient Sharing of Medical Information between Clinics (의료기관간 효과적인 의료정보 공유를 위한 WISD의 설계 및 구현)

  • For efficient compatible system between medical clinics, the medical information has to be built on a standardized protocol such as a HL7 for text data and a DICOM for image data. But it is difficult to exchange information between medical clinics because the systems and softwares are different and also a structure of data and a type of code. Therefore we analyze a structure of DICOM file and design an integrated database for effective information sharing and exchange. The WISD system suggested in this paper separate the DICOM file transmitted by medical clinics to text data and image data and store it in the integrated DB(database) by standardized protocol respectively. It is very efficient that each medical clinic can search and exchange information by web browser using the suggested system. The WISD system can not only search and control of image data and patient information through integrated database and internet, but share medical information without extra charge like construction of new system.

  • 인터넷의 급속한 확산과 보급으로 인하여 인터넷에서 접할 수 있는 정보의 양은 기하급수적으로 늘어나고 있다. 따라서 오늘날 인터넷에서의 정보검색은 쉬운 일이 아니며, 사용자를 대신해 여러 사이트로부터 정보를 수집하고 걸러주는 에이전트의 역할이 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 에이전트를 이용한 적응형 정보 추천 시스템(ARS ; Adaptive Information Recommendation System)을 제안한다. ARS는 에이전트를 이용하여 여러 사이트로부터 정보를 수집하고 통합하며, 사용자가 관심을 가지는 정보만을 제공함으로써 정보검색을 위한 사용자의 시간과 노력을 최소화하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 수집 에이전트를 이용하여 여러 사이트로부터 주기적으로 정보를 수집하여 데이터베이스에 저장하며, 수집된 정보는 사용자 프로파일을 이용하여 사용자가 관심을 가지는 정보만을 제공한다. 사용자 프로파일은 제공된 정보에 대한 사용자의 행위를 관찰하여 수정되며, 이러한 작업을 반복함으로써 점차 사용자의 취향에 적응하게 되어, 보다 적절한 정보만을 사용자에게 제공할 수 있게 된다.

  • The World Wide Web is a very large distributed digital information space. From its origins in 1991, the web has grown to encompass diverse information resources as personal home pasges, online digital libraries and virtual museums. Some estimates suggest that the web currently includes over 500 billion pages in the deep web. The ability to search and retrieve information from the web efficiently and effectively is an enabling technology for realizing its full potential. With powerful workstations and parallel processing technology, efficiency is not a bottleneck. In fact, some existing search tools sift through gigabyte.syze precompiled web indexes in a fraction of a second. But retrieval effectiveness is a different matter. Current search tools retrieve too many documents, of which only a small fraction are relevant to the user query. Furthermore, the most relevant documents do not nessarily appear at the top of the query output order. Also, current search tools can not retrieve the documents related with retrieved document from gigantic amount of documents. The most important problem for lots of current searching systems is to increase the quality of search. It means to provide related documents or decrease the number of unrelated documents as low as possible in the results of search. For this problem, CiteSeer proposed the ACI (Autonomous Citation Indexing) of the articles on the World Wide Web. A "citation index" indexes the links between articles that researchers make when they cite other articles. Citation indexes are very useful for a number of purposes, including literature search and analysis of the academic literature. For details of this work, references contained in academic articles are used to give credit to previous work in the literature and provide a link between the "citing" and "cited" articles. A citation index indexes the citations that an article makes, linking the articleswith the cited works. Citation indexes were originally designed mainly for information retrieval. The citation links allow navigating the literature in unique ways. Papers can be located independent of language, and words in thetitle, keywords or document. A citation index allows navigation backward in time (the list of cited articles) and forwardin time (which subsequent articles cite the current article?) But CiteSeer can not indexes the links between articles that researchers doesn't make. Because it indexes the links between articles that only researchers make when they cite other articles. Also, CiteSeer is not easy to scalability. Because CiteSeer can not indexes the links between articles that researchers doesn't make. All these problems make us orient for designing more effective search system. This paper shows a method that extracts subject and predicate per each sentence in documents. A document will be changed into the tabular form that extracted predicate checked value of possible subject and object. We make a hierarchical graph of a document using the table and then integrate graphs of documents. The graph of entire documents calculates the area of document as compared with integrated documents. We mark relation among the documents as compared with the area of documents. Also it proposes a method for structural integration of documents that retrieves documents from the graph. It makes that the user can find information easier. We compared the performance of the proposed approaches with lucene search engine using the formulas for ranking. As a result, the F.measure is about 60% and it is better as about 15%.

Automatic Indexing for the Content-based Retrieval of News Video (뉴스 비디오의 내용기반 검색을 위한 자동 인덱싱)

  • This paper presents an integrated solution for the content-based news video indexing and the retrieval. Currently, it is impossible to automatically index a general video, but we can index a specific structural video such as news videos. Our proposed model extracts automatically the key frames by using the structured knowledge of news and consists of the news item segmentation, caption recognition and search browser modules. We present above three modules in the following: the news event segmentation module recognizes an anchor-person shot based on face recognition, and then its news event are divided by the anchor-person's frame information. The caption recognition module detects the caption-frames with the caption characteristics, extracts their character region by the using split-merge method, and then recognizes characters with OCR software. Finally, the search browser module could make a various of searching mechanism possible.

  • HTML pages in the web change at any time. It could cause to decrease the functionality of meta-search engines which provide users with integrated results of search engines. To solve this problem, we propose an HTML pages modification detector. It utilities information of element positions in HTML pages and the modified Jaak Vilo algorithm. The HTML page modification detector uses patterns that represent the structure of HTML expressions occurring repeatedly in HTML pages. An experiment is carried out to verify the correctness of the modification detector.

  • 시맨틱 웹 및 온톨로지 기술은 인터넷에 존재하는 방대한 데이터를 자동적으로 처리하기 위한 대안으로써 다양한 분야에서 적용하기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이를 통해 각 분야에 대한 정보자원이 차츰 컴퓨터가 처리할 수 있는 형태의 웹으로 진화하고 있지만 국내의 의약품 관련 정보는 정보자원에 대한 의미적인 표현이 부족할 뿐만 아니라 주제별로 각기 다른 웹사이트들에 분산 되어, 필요한 정보들이 여러 사이트들에 중복되어 있다. 그리고 연관이 있는 정보간의 연결이 부족하여 일반 사용자뿐만 아니라 의약품 전문가들도 원하는 자료를 효율적으로 검색하고 활용하기가 쉽지 않다. 이에, 우리는 의약품 정보들의 관계를 표현하여 의약품 정보의 효율적인 검색 및 광범위한 활용이 가능하게 하기위한 연구를 진행하였다. 본 논문에서는 한국식품의약품안전청에서 제공하고 있는 7개의 웹사이트에서 제공되는 23종의 의약품 관련 정보를 수집 분석한다. 그리고 온톨로지 기술을 활용하여 여러 웹사이트에 흩어져 있는 의약품 정보의 연결성을 분석하고 표현한다. 본 논문에서 보이는 의약품 정보 및 관계의 표현은 효율적인 의약품 관련 정보 검색에 활용이 가능하며 향후 분산된 의약품 관련 정보의 통합 및 운영에 있어 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

A Study on Development and Prospects of Archival Finding Aids (기록 검색도구의 발전과 전망)

  • Finding aids are tools which facilitate to locate and understand archives and records. Traditionally there are two types of archival finding aids: vertical and horizontal. Vertical finding aids such as inventories have multi-level descriptions based on provenance, while horizontal ones such as catalogs and index are tools to guide to the vertical finding aids based on the subject. In the web environment, traditional finding aids are evolving into more dynamic forms. Respecting the principles of provenance and original order, vertical finding aids are changing to multi-entity structures with development of ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF) and ISDF as standards for describing each entity. However, vertical finding aids can be too difficult, complicated, and boring for many users, who are accustomed to the easy and exciting searching tools in the internet world. Complementing them, new types of finding aids are appearing to provide easy, interesting, and extensive access channels. This study investigates the development and limitation of vertical finding aids, and the recent trend of evolving new finding aids complementing the vertical ones. The study finds three new trends of finding aid development. They are (i) mixture, (ii) integration, and (iii) openness. In recent days, certain finding aids are mixed with stories and others provide integrated searches for the collections of various heritage institutions. There are cases for experimenting user participation in the development of finding aids using Web 2.0 applications. These new types of finding aids can also cause some problems such as decontextualised description and prejudices, especially in the case of mixed finding aids and quality control of user contributed annotations and comments. To solve these problems, the present paper suggests to strengthen the infrastructure of vertical finding aids and to connect them with various new ones and to facilitate interactions with users of finding aids. It is hoped that the present paper will provide impetus for archives including the National Archives of Korea to set up and evaluate the development strategies for archival finding aids.
