A Study on the Removal of Ammonia by Using Peat Biofilter (미생물 활성토탄을 이용한 암모니아 제거에 관한 연구)

  • Conventional deodorization filters using soil and compost reach the capacity limitation of deodorization in short period, because its removal mechanism primarily depends on adsorption. Therefore, in this study the experiment was performed on the removal of ammonia which is a strong inorganic malodor, frequently emitted from night soil treatment plants and sewage treatment plants, by seeding activated sludges on the bio-peat containing higher organic contents, water conservation capacity, permeability and lower pressure drop. As a result, in raw peat filter natural ammonia outlet was observed in consequence of pH increase resulted from ammonia ionizing in liquid phase. Ammonia removal mechanism primarily depended on the adsorption onto the anion colloidal substances in peat. In peat bio-filter, theoretical ammonium salts ratio was higher than that of raw peat, resulted from slight pH increase by microorganism activity, however, the experimetal value of ammonia-nitrogen accumulated in bio-peat was lower than that of raw peat because of nitrification by nitrifying bacteria. In the initial reaction period, adsorption was predominant in the ammonia removal mechanism, but nitrification was conspicuous after the middle period. Mass balance of nitrogen was established using experimental data of input $NH_3$ loading, output $NH_3$ loading, $NH_4{^+}$-N, $NO_x$-N, and Org-N. The critical time of unsteady state, which is the maximum activating point of microorganism in bio-filter, was determined using experimental data, and the ammonia adsorption curve was computed using regression analysis. On the basis of the results obtained by above analysis, the delay days for the saturation of adsoption capacity in peat bio-filter was calculated.

Determination of Water Retention Characteristics of Organic and Inorganic Substrates for Horticulture by European Standard Method (유럽표준배지분석법에 의한 원예용 유기·무기성 배지의 수분보유특성)

  • The objective of this study was to get information about water retention characteristics of horticultural substrates used in Korea determined by European standard method. Water retention curves were prepared at water volume (v/v, %) in relation to -10 cm, -50 cm, -100 cm water pressure head. Water retention curves showed different properties depending upon the type, the place of origin, particle size, and manufacturing processes of substrates. Peat and coir had easily available water content in the range of 30-40% and showed high water holding capacity, water buffering capacity, and aeration for plant growth. However, bark, sawdust and rice hull showed low water holding capacity about below 10%. The easily available water content of perlite and clay ball was low about 0.1-13.8%, whereas that of vermiculite and rockwool granulate was high about 25.9-52.0%. Understanding water retention characteristics of growing substrates is very important in cstablisliing optimum condition for plant growth. Further study on water retention curves for more substrates, mixture and growing media is needed.

Growth Characteristics of Barley Seedlings in Hydroponic Culture Conditioned Artificial Wet Injury (양액재배를 이용한 인위적 습해유발조건에서 보리 유묘의 생육특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of induced wet-injury conditions on barley seedling growth. Barley seedlings at the three leaf stage were grown in culture solutions with various combinations of dissolved oxygen (DO), nutrients and citric acid (CA) concentrations. Seedling growth was reduced by hypoxia. Root length and root fresh weight were most severely reduced under 1 ppm DO. Shoot growth was slightly reduced but not root growth under low nutrient condition. Seedling growth was reduced by CA in a concentration-dependant manner, Response of seedling growth was efficiently differentiated in a solution containing 1 ppm DO, one tenth of the normal P, K and Mg concentration and 3 mM CA. Under this induced wet-injury condition, overall seedling growth of 6 cultivars was reduced by 11 to 19% compared to the control condition. The results suggest that the induced wet-injury condition can be used for the screening of resistant genotypes at the seedling stage.

  • A bacterium which grows on cyclohexanol as sole carbon and energy source was isolated from sludge of industrial areas in Taegu and identified as Acinetobacter calcoaceticus C-15. The growth medium for the optimal culture condition was composed of 0.2% cyclohexanol, 0.11% $NH_4Cl$, 0.05% $KH_2PO_4$, 0.2% $K_2HPO_4$, 0.02% $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$, and 0.05% yeast extracts. The optimal pH value and temperature for the growth were 7.2 and $33^{\circ}C$, respectively. Specific growth rate of A. calcoaceticus C-15 at $33^{\circ}C$ on the cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone was $0.27hr^{-1}$ and $0.15hr^{-1}$, respectively. Growth yield for cyclohexanol was 1.0. The bacteria utilized ethanol, 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, and cyclohexanol as a carbon source but not methanol, 1-hexanol, m-cresol, glycerol, and cyclohexane. The bacteria grew on benzoate, adipate, acetate, and citrate, but did not on salicylate, phthalate, p-hydroxybenzoate, and gluconate. A calcoaceticus C-15 did not utilize all kind of sugars other than xylose. Cell-free extracts contained $NAD^+$-linked cyclohexanol dehydrogenase which catalized the oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone.

  • A bacterial strain producing a high level of an extracellular phytase was isolated from livestock waste water, identified as a strain of Pseudomonas fragi and designated as Pseudomonas fragi Y9451. Under the phytase production medium, the activity of phytase reached the highest level after 120 hours of incubation. On the effect of carbon sources on the phytase production, the most favorable carbon source for phytase production was fructose. As for the effect of nitrogen sources, high levels of phytase activity were detected in the medium containing nutrient broth as the nitrogen source. Free $PO_4^{3-}$ inhibited phytase production with increasing concentration of $KE_2PO_4$ and phytate in the media. The addition of $CaCl_2$ and $MgSO_4$ also resulted in the inhibition of phytase production. To investigate the effect of aeration on the phytase production, different volumes of culture broth in Erlenmeyer flasks were incubated in rotary shaker at the speed of 200 rpm. As a result, a high level of phytase activity was detected at small volume of culture broth as compared to larger volume because of its more aerobic condition.

The Study on the Migration of Sulfite in Commercial Wooden Chopsticks (국내 유통 나무젓가락 중 이산화황 이행량에 관한 연구)

  • The levels of sulfites in wooden chopsticks were analyzed using two different methods, distillation-alkali titration and ion chromatography. According to the two methods, Sulfur dioxide($SO_2$) was validated by 0.6 and 0.2 ${\mu}ml$ of limit of detection(LOD), 1.8 and 0.5 ${\mu}ml$ of limit of quantification, (LOQ) and a $R^2>0.998$ for linearity, respectively. The recoveries of $SO_2$ from food simulants spiked ar levels of 100 ppm were 70.2-100.2%. 158 samples of wooden chopsticks were monitored the migrated amounts of sulfites. Sulfites were detected in 30 samples in ranged of 0.6 to 15.5 ppm. Maximum migration level, 15.5 ppm of sulfites was considered giving no harmful effect to human since it was reached 5.5% of estimated SML.

The effect of continuous application of the food waste composts on the paddy field environment (음식물류폐기물 활용 퇴비의 장기시용이 논 농업환경에 미치는 영향)

  • The long-term effects and the soil environmental changes were examined to ensure the safety of food waste compost in agricultural use. Based on conventional nitrogen application rate of chemical fertilizer, Pig manure compost with $24g\;N\;kg^{-1}$, $8g\;P_2O_5\;kg^{-1}$, and $10.4g\;K_2O\;kg^{-1}$ and food waste compost with $20g\;N\;kg^{-1}$, $20.1g\;P_2O_5\;kg^{-1}$, and $6.5g\;K_2O\;kg^{-1}$ were applied to the paddy soil in $2{\times}2{\times}2m$ lysimeter in which paddy rice (Oryza sativa L. var Chucheong) were grown. The rice grown where food waste compost applied showed better growth responses than control, whereas less yield rate than chemical fertilizer applied. The contents of organic matter, nitrogen, and phosphorus after experiment were increased with compost applied. In addition, it improved soil aeration by the application of food waste compost, while little difference was observed in the quality of surface, infiltrated, and ground water compared to chemical fertilizer applied or control.

A fundamental study on the ventilation analysis method for the network-type tunnel - focused on the none hardy-cross method (네트워크형 터널의 환기해석 방법에 대한 기초연구-비 Hardy-Cross 방법을 중심으로)

  • Recently, various forms of diverging sections in tunnels have been designed as the demand for underground passageway in urban areas increases. Therefore, the complexity of the ventilation system in tunnels with diverging sections requires a ventilation analysis method different from the conventional method for the straight tunnels. None of the domestic and foreign tunnel ventilation design standards specifies the method for the ventilation network analysis, and the numerical analysis methods have been most widely used. This paper aims at reviewing the ventilation network analytical method applicable as the design standard. The proposed method is based on the characteristic equations rather than the numerical analysis. Thanks to the advantages of easy application, the Hardy-Cross method has been widely applied in the fields of mine ventilation and tunnel ventilation. However, limitations with the cutting errors in the Taylor series expansion and the convergence problem mainly caused by the mesh selection algorithm have been reported. Therefore, this paper examines the applicability of the ventilation analysis method for network-type tunnels with the gradient method that can analyze flow rate and pressure simultaneously without the configuration of mesh. A simple ventilation analysis method for network-type tunnels is proposed.

  • 가축배설물(家畜排泄物)의 콤포스트화(化) 작업(作業)의 공학적(工學的)인 국면(局面)은 축산(畜産) 경영(經營)의 축산물(畜産物) 생산성(生産性), 에너지 보전(保全), 공해방지(公害防止)와 분뇨처리(糞尿處理)의 노력(勞力) 절약(節約)에 긴밀(緊密)한 관계(關係)가 있다. 그러나 우리나라에 있어서 축산업(畜産業)의 사양(飼養) 규모(規模)와 두수(頭數)는 매년(每年) 증가(增加)하고 있는 경향(傾向)인바 전통적(傳統的)인 가축(家畜) 배설물(排泄物) 처리(處理) 및 재이용(再利用) 과정(科程)에서 발생(發生)되는 문제점(問題點)에 대(對)한 연구(硏究) 자료(資料)가 없고 특(特)히 콤포스트화(化) 작업(作業)이 원시적(原始的)이므로 개선(改善) 확립(確立)이 절실(切實)히 요구(要求)되는 실정(實定)이다. 본(本) 연구(硏究)의 목적(目的)은 가축(家畜) 분뇨(糞尿)의 콤포스트화(化) 작업(作業) 과정(科程)에서 공학적(工學的)인 제(諸) 문제점(問題點)을 조사(調査) 분석(分析)하여 현상(現狀)을 평가(評價)하고 개선(改善) 방안(方案)을 모색(摸索)하기 위한 기본자료(基本資料)를 제공(提供)하고져 수행(遂行)하였다. 이에 관한 조사(調査)와 분석(分析) 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 축산농가(畜産農家)의 가축(家畜) 배설물(排泄物) 처분(處分) 방법(方法)은 대부분(大部分)이 자연건조(自然乾燥), 퇴적(堆積), 혐기적(嫌氣的)인 고형(固形) 또는 액상(液狀) 퇴비화(堆肥化)에 의하여 실시(實施)되고 있었으며 가축분뇨(家畜糞尿)로 인(因)한 공해(公害)는 심각(深刻)하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 2. 호기성(好氣性) 야적(野積) 콤포스트의 통기작업(通氣作業)은 트랙터에 부착(附着)되어진 전후(前後) 작동식(作動式) 로우더가 바람직하다. 3. 농축산(農畜産) 폐기물(廢棄物)의 콤포스트화(化) 작업(作業)은 축산농가(畜産農家)를 중심(中心)으로 한 콤포스트 센타에서 전체 농가(農家)가 지방(地方) 증진(增進)과 오염(汚染) 방지(防止)를 하기 위해 참여(參與)하여 완전(完全) 공동(共同) 이용(利用) 체계에 따라 일관성(一貫性)있게 수행(遂行)되어야 한다. 4. 호기성(好氣性) 야적(野積) 콤포스트 작업(作業)은 다른 방법(方法)에 비하여 운영비(運營費)가 적게 들어 영세적(零細的)인 축산업(畜産業)의 경우(境遇)에 가장 적당(適當)하고 공해(公害)를 방지(防止)함으로서 한국(韓國) 축산농가(畜産農家)의 콤포스트화(化) 시설(施設)로 전망(展望)이 밝다고 판단(判斷)된다.

국가간 기술혁신 파급경로에 관한 실증분석

  • 본 연구는 기술혁신파급경로를 결정하는 국가 간 무역역할에 대한 실증적인 분석을 목적으로 한다 이 연구목적을 위하여, 최근 자료인 1980년부터 2003년까지 15개 OECD국가를 대상으로 자국의 기술혁신을 결정하는 중요한 변수로 알려진 자국 R&D축적 및 무역대상국의 R&D축적자료를 구축하였으며, 이를 무역지수인 쌍방간에 수출 및 수입량을 경제규모로 나눈 가중지수를 이용하여 유입된 R&D축적량을 구축하였다. 또한 대상변수들의 기술혁신파급역할에 대하여 최근 논의되고 있는 비정상적 패널기법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 최근 제안되고 있는 비정상적 패널기법을 이용하여 국제 간에 기술혁신파급경로를 분석한 결과를 간단하게 요약하면, 다음과 같다. 첫째, 분석대상변수들은 비정상성을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 그러나 장기적으로 분석대상변수들이 서로 균형상태를 나타내는 공적분관계에 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 국가 간에 기술혁신파급경로의 방향과 정도를 파악하기 위하여 패널 공적분계수를 추정하였으나, 설정함수형태에 따라서 여러 가지 상반된 실증결과가 나타났다. 따라서 기존 연구Coe et al., 1995, Keller, 1998, Kao, et al., 1999 그리고 Funk, 2001]의 분석결과 및 그 시사점들이 서로 다른 이유는 분석대상변수들의 선택차이뿐만 아니라, 기술혁신경로에 대한 설정함수형태에 따라서 서로 다른 분석결과가 나타날 수 있는 가능성을 보여준다. 본 연구에서 나타난 분석결과의 시사점을 보면, 국가 간에 기술혁신파급경로분석은 기술혁신파급을 결정하는 매개변수선정도 중요하지만, 결정된 설명변수들 사이에 어떤 기술혁신파급에 관한 연관관계가 존재하는지에 대한 실증분석 즉 파급경로분석도 매우 중요함을 보여준다. 이러한 파급경로분석에는 기존의 선형가정뿐만 아니라 비선형가정을 이용한 기술파급경로분석을 통한 시사점제안이 요구된다.관적인 시스템을 제공하는 것이다.가 생성된다. $M_{C}$에 CaC $l_2$를 첨가한 경우 $M_{C}$는 완전히 $M_{Cl}$ 로 전이를 하였다. $M_{Cl}$ 에 CaC $l_2$를 첨가하였을 경우에는 아무런 수화물의 변화는 발생하지 않았다. 따라서 CaS $O_4$.2$H_2O$를 CaC $O_3$및 CaC $l_2$와 반응시켰을 때의 AFm상의 안정성 순서는 $M_{S}$ < $M_{C}$< $M_{Cl}$ 로 된다.phy. Finally, Regional Development and Regional Environmental Problems were highly correlated with accommodators.젼 공정을 거쳐 제조된다는 점을 고려할 때 이용가능한 에너지 함량계산에 직접 활용될 수는 없을 것이다.총단백질 및 AST에서 시간경과에 따른 삼투압 조절 능력에 문제가 있는 것으로 보여진다.c}C$에서 5시간 가열조리 후 잔존율은 각각 84.7% 및 73.3%였고, 질소가스 통기하에서는 잔존율이 88.9% 및 81.8%로 더욱 안정하였다.8% 및 12.44%, 201일 이상의 경우 13.17% 및 11.30%로 201일 이상의 유기의 경우에만 대조구와 삭제 구간에 유의적인(p<0.05) 차이를 나타내었다.는 담수(淡水)에서 10%o의 해수(海水)로 이주된지 14일(日) 이후에 신장(腎臟)에서 수축된 것으로 나타났다. 30%o의 해수(海水)에 적응(適應)된 틸라피아의 평균 신사구체(腎絲球體)의 면적은 담수(淡水)에 적응된 개체의 면적보다 유의성
