Effects of Organic Selenium Mix on the Performance, Carcass Characteristics, Tissue Selenium Distribution, and Economic Value in Finishing Hanwoo Steers (유기셀레늄 혼합제 급여가 비육말기 거세한우의 성장, 도체성적, 체내 셀레늄 분포 및 경제성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study fulfilled to investigate the feed efficiency, tissue selenium distribution, carcass characteristic and economic value in finishing Hanwoo steers fed organic selenium mix (OSM) which included seleno-yeast, rumen culture and other microbial supplements. Forty five finishing Hanwoo steers were tested for 4 months dividing to three feeding groups: OSM add as 0.5 ppm Se of DM feeds (0.5 ppm OSM), OSM enriched add as 1.0 ppm Se of DM feeds (1.0 ppm OSM) and basal diet without OSM (control). The total weight gains, the average daily gains and the feed intakes were not differ in treatments (p > 0.05). No differences (p > 0.05) were noted for hot carcass weight, loin eye area, backfat thickness, meat yield index, meat color, fat color, tenderness and maturity. However, the 1.0 ppm OSM showed better performances for feed requirement, TDN per gain, meat yield grade and meat quality grade compared to other groups. Tissue selenium distribution was increased by organic selenium feeding: higher Se concentration in liver and rump of 0.5 ppm OSM (p < 0.05), and kidney, liver, sirloin and rump of 1.0 ppm OSM (p < 0.05) than the tissues of control group. Generally, tissue selenium was the highest value in 1.0 ppm OSM and showed higher concentrate in order; kidney, liver, sirloin and rump. The income over feed cost was 1.06-fold higher in 1.0 ppm OSM than control group. In conclusion, organic selenium mix supplementation and its amounts were not influenced to feed intake, body gain and carcass characteristic but significantly increased tissue selenium. Therefore, these results suggest that finishing Hanwoo steer fed an enriched organic selenium mix with proper probiotics is able to produce “high-Se” beef as high bioavailable form as well as create a beneficial opportunity on Hanwoo farm.

  • This study is to reveal the acceptance factors of the Market Sentiment Index (MSI) created by reflecting the investor sentiment extracted by processing unstructured big data. The research model was established by exploring exogenous variables based on the rational behavior theory and applying the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The acceptance of MSI provided to investors in the stock market was found to be influenced by the exogenous variables presented in this study. The results of causal analysis are as follows. First, self-efficacy, investment opportunities, Innovativeness, and perceived cost significantly affect perceived ease of use. Second, Diversity of services and perceived benefits have a statistically significant impact on perceived usefulness. Third, Perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have a statistically significant effect on attitude to use. Fourth, Attitude to use statistically significantly influences the intention to use, and the investment opportunities as an independent variable affects the intention to use. Fifth, the intention to use statistically significantly affects the final dependent variable, the intention to use continuously. The mediating effect between the independent and dependent variables of the research model is as follows. First, The indirect effect on the causal route from diversity of services to continuous use intention was 0.1491, which was statistically significant at the significance level of 1%. Second, The indirect effect on the causal route from perceived benefit to continuous use intention was 0.1281, which was statistically significant at the significance level of 1%. The results of the multi-group analysis are as follows. First, for groups with and without stock investment experience, multi-group analysis was not possible because the measurement uniformity between the two groups was not secured. Second, the analysis result of the difference in the effect of independent variables of male and female groups on the intention to use continuously, where measurement uniformity was secured between the two groups, In the causal route from usage attitude to usage intention, women are higher than men. And in the causal route from use intention to continuous use intention, males were very high and showed statistically significant difference at significance level 5%.

Effects of Storage and Supplementation with Ginger and Ginseng Powder on Volatile Basic Nitrogen, Aerobic Plate and Sensory Evaluation of Pork Jerky (생강 및 인삼 분말 첨가가 돈육포의 휘발성 염기태 질소, 미생물 수 및 관능평가에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we analyzed 24 pieces ($4{\times}3{\times}2$) of pork jerky produced using raw meat and we then randomly assigned the hind leg meat to a treatment group. In addition, the effects of storage according to aerobic plate counts and sensory evaluation on pork jerky were examined. Form the results, We found that volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) content and aerobic plate counts of pork jerky gradually increased with increased storage time, ; moreover, there was a significant difference between the treatment groups and the control group (p<0.01). However, the counts did not increase as significantly in the ginseng powder group (B), as compared to the ginger powder group (A) (p<0.05). The sensory evaluation of pork jerky peaked during the second week of storage in all treatment groups, after which these characteristics gradually decreased (p<0.05). In addition, these characteristics were generally higher in the control group, compared to the treatment groups. When comparing the ginseng powder addition group (B) and ginger powder-addition group (A), only color was significantly higher in the ginger powder group. Based on this study as well as previous studies, storage of pork jerky significantly affects the sensory evaluation of raw pork. Ginger powder may have a more beneficial effect than other treatments on the sensory evaluation. Additionally, in all treatment groups, sensory characteristics were significantly higher in the ginger treated groups than in those of the ginseng-treated groups.

The Effect of Nitrogen Supply on Tomato Plants by NH4-Beaker-Deposits (토마토에 대한 NH4-Beaker Deposit 비료의 질소공급 효과)

  • Long term cultivation crops like tomato, capsicum, melon etc. demand much amount of continuous supplying of nutrition during the whole growing periods. It is not easy to cover satisfactorily the nutritional demands for them by splitted top dressings, slow release fertilizer applications and fertigation systems. To overcome these problems, the "CULTAN" (Controlled Uptake Long Term Ammonium Nutrition) Beaker Deposit techniques have been developed and it was put into PVC beaker with the combined nitrogen fertilizer type mixed with the ratio of one-third of ammonium sulfate-N and two-thirds of urea-N, in which nitrogen was loaded on the demanding amount of a tomato plant during the growing period. Gypsum was mixed as a binder, and loamy soil and compost were used as a diffusion regulator. It was placed upside down into root zone of tomato at the transplanting. Tomato roots were spreaded into the Deposit beaker by ammonium ions which attract root growth. The tomato fruit yield and nitrogen uptake by plant were increased by application of $NH_4$-Beaker deposit fertilizer rather than those of common fertilizer treatment. In conclusion, it was able to improve economic and ecological benefits through CULTAN system compared with common fertilization systems. CULTAN system was estimated as a prospective alternative to enhance productivity and minimize nutrient lose. In addition, it shows further developing possibility of CULTAN system by the supplement of micro-nutrients and pesticides in the macro-nutrient beaker deposits.

The Relationship Between of Marriage Migrant Women's Oral Health Belief and Self-Efficacy on Oral Health Awareness (결혼이주여성의 구강건강신념 및 자기효능감과 구강건강인식도와의 관련성)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between of oral health belief and self-efficacy on oral health awareness for marriage migrant women's in the Yeongnam region and provide basic data that could help develop programs necessary to improve oral health awareness and change attitudes; for this purpose, a self-administered questionnaire based on interview was used in marriage migrant women's using eight multicultural centers in Daegu and North and South Gyeongsang Provinces from October 1 to December 15, 2013 and 256 copies were finally analyzed. The statistically analysis was performed using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 7.0, with the statistical significance level set at p<.05. As for the effects of oral health belief and self-efficacy on oral health awareness, the experience of scaling was affected by seriousness(${\beta}$=.568) among the factors of oral health belief(p<.05), oral health status was affected by sensitivity(${\beta}$=-.391)(p<.01), and oral health concern was affected by sensitivity(${\beta}$=-.183), seriousness(${\beta}$=.172), usefulness (${\beta}$=.224), and self-efficacy(${\beta}$=.237)(p<.01). It is necessary to analyze the effects of oral health belief and self-efficacy on oral health awareness, make positive efforts to develop preventive oral health management and oral health education programs, and make fundamental policies for improving oral health in multicultural families so that marriage migrant women's can make efficient oral health management.

Sensory Evaluation and Changes in Physiochemical Properties, and Microflora and Enzyme Activities of Pumpkin-added Kochujang (호박을 첨가하여 제조한 고추장의 숙성 중 성분 변화 및 관능적 특성)

  • In the present study, changes in physicochemical and sensory properties, and microflora and enzyme activities, by addition of pumpkin (1, 2 and 5% pumpkin on the weight basis), of Sunchang sikhe kochujang, the most famous traditional kochujang, were investigated. Moisture content appeared to be reduced during fermentation, possibly due to exposure to the sun. Patterns of pH changes were rather complicated. pH of control kochujang was gradually reduced from the begining of fermentation up to 60 days of fermentation. Thereafter, it tended to be increased but again reduced after 90 days of fermentation. On the other hand, titratable acidity increased with fermentation reaching at the highest level at 90 day of fermentation and then slowly decreased. The addition of pumpkin induced a reduction in pH and an increase in titratable acidity, but this was due to organic acid contained in pumpkin itself. Contents of reducing sugar and amino nitrogen were increased by the addition of pumpkin in relation to the level of addition. Ethanol content was highly increased by the addition of pumpkin. Bacterial and yeast count, and activities of amylase and protease were not affected by the addition of pumpkin. Sensory evaluation test revealed that the addition of pumpkin improved sweet and savory taste, but color turned to be undesirable. However, none of tested parameters except color showed statistical significance.

Adolescents' Purchasing Behavior for Hair-care Products (청소년의 헤어제품 구매 행동에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates the relationship between the purchasing behavior for hair-care products and the attitude toward hair-care products by adolescents. A total of 412 middle and high school students located in Seoul and Gyunggi-do province participated in this research. SPSS 12.0 for Windows Program was utilized for statistical analysis. As a result, the hair concerns and the satisfaction of adolescents as well as their attitudes towards hair-care products were significantly affected by gender, school level, and educational experiences. Female high school students with some degree of educational experiences had a more rational and brand-oriented attitude. Students having a higher rational and brand-oriented attitude bought hair-care products in regards to the quality of the product and environmental impact. On the other hand, those having a conspicuous and fashion pursuit attitude showed an image and fashion concern purchasing behavior. Adolescents usually purchased styling and dyeing products at a cosmetic specialty store and hair-care cleaning products from a discount store. They obtained the information about hair-care products from relatives, personal experiences, and TV advertisements.

Changes in Quality Characteristics of Soybean Paste Doenjang with Addition of Garlic during Fermentation (마늘 첨가 된장의 숙성 중 품질특성 변화)

  • In this study, we investigated the quality characteristics of Korean soybean paste, Doenjang, fermented for 6 weeks at room temperature with the addition of 0, 10, 20 and 30% garlic. Samples were analyzed in one-week intervals. The lightness decreased in all samples as the fermentation period and garlic concentration increased. Yellow index decreased in weeks 5~6 compared with weeks 0-1, for which the values were lower for the garlic-added Doenjang than the control. The pH increased, greatly reducung the acidity in week 1 compared with week 0. Significant differences in the pH and acidity were not observed among the sample groups. Amino type nitrogen contents increased continuously up to weeks 5, displaying no significant differences among the sample groups at weeks 5 and 6. In addition, reduction in the sugar content increased depending on the fermentation period. It increased in all sample groups by about 2.5 times after 6 weeks compared with the initial levels. Isoflavone content was also reduced generally depending on the fermentation period. In the early fermentation periods, the aglycone contents were the higher than the glycosides, while the glycoside contents increased over the fermentation period. The presence of Bacillus was not significantly different among the garlic added groups, but yeast was lower in the Doenjang with high garlic content.

Multilevel Analysis Study on Determinants of Career Commitment among Social Workers (사회복지사의 경력몰입 결정요인에 대한 다층분석연구)

  • Based on the premise that a systematic career process was one of the essential elements of successful task performance both for individuals and the organization in the field of social welfare, this study set out to empirically analyze factors influencing the career commitment of social workers at a multidimensional level and provide practical implications for the directionality of career management on the basis of data with theoretical and statistical accuracy. For those purposes, the study collected individual and organizational characteristics data from 787 social workers at 46 agencies through a structured questionnaire and analyzed influential factors through the multilevel analysis technique by taking organizational effects into account. The analysis results show that explanations by the organization characteristics recorded significant 15% in the total variance of career commitment and that its influential factors included such significant variables as the protean career attitude, desire for growth, human network, and self-efficacy at the individual level and also the qualification compensation system at the organizational level. The study then proposed and discussed integrated practice strategies between individuals and agencies as the measures to promote career success through the activation of individual factors based on the consideration of organizational effects such as the application of an employee assistant program, provision of incentives to professional career development, and shift to a learning organization.

A Study of STEAM Education for Elementary Science Subject with Robots (교육용 로봇을 활용한 초등학교 과학교과의 STEAM교육 수업 방안)

  • The Ministry of Education issues STEAM education as a part of convergence. Most important is "How to achieve goals of STEAM education". The goal of this paper searches possibilities that robot is a good tool for STEAM education. The main topic is photosynthesis unit as circumstantiation and "Deep sea exploration robot", is creative activity, in elementary science subject. Students complete 13 basic course about robot, then accomplish subject-oriented 10 robot application course about above topic. Basic course contains math and science elements that students learn in regular curriculum. Application course is organized following steps, photosynthesis with oxygen sensors, brainstorming, idea derivation, robot design, robot construction, demo and presentation and so on. These courses have elements of STEAM. Finally teacher has face-to-face meeting with parents and students. Most have positive aspects about this process in terms of creativity, study attitude, and school life. Specially low-ranking students win a prize in robot competition. So they can gain confidence and accomplishment. This paper don't show statistic chart, but we surely knew that robot education for STEAM education seriously affect creativity huminity and job search.
