In this study, the analysis of load transition of PHC pile was performed with the static load test, which was driven in deep soft clay layer of MyungJi site in the western area of Pusan. The results of test showed that the range of unit side resistance of pile in sand layer were $7.4t/m^2$ to $23.3t/m^2$ and $6.4t/m^2$ in the soft clay layer, while the unit base resistance was $955t/m^2$ in dense silty sand layer. To select the most reasonable static bearing capacity formular, the field measured values are compared with the calculated ones from the suggested various formular. In the case of side resistance in sand layer, the suggest formular in the Structural Foundation Design Manual by KGS was most reasonable, while in clay layer Railroad Design Manual.
The analysis of corrugated steel pipes is depending on a second dimension frame analysis or compressed ring model. This is the analysis not to consider the behavior of soil-structure interaction. The behavior of load resistance system is varied according to the depth of cover and the spacing of corrugated steel pipes structure. Therefore, the behavior characteristic of corrugated steel pipes was confirmed through finite element analysis to consider the activity of soil-structure interaction. If soil cover is filled up to the more of optimal depth, behavior of corrugated steel pipes are similar to those of ductile steel pipes according to the earth pressure distribution and effects of traffic loads are decreased. But, If soil cover is filled up to the less of optimal depth, corrugated steel pipes can't behave completely as ductile steel pipes because the passive earth pressure acting on side of corrugated steel pipes is decreased according to the decrement of vertical earth pressure, and the traffic loads influence on the section forces is increased, so that the traffic loads dominated the behavior of corrugated steel pipes.
In the present study, an analytical solution method is proposed for the seismic design of anchored sheet pile walls used in port. The proposed analytical method deals with the anchored sheet pile walls with free earth support in sands and c- U soils, including the effects of hydrodynamic pressures and a condition of steady seepage between the two water levels. Also, the effects of various parameters(differential in water levels, anchor position, wall friction angle, dredge line slope, cohesion, adhesion etc.) on embedment depth, anchor force, and maximum bending moment are analyzed using the proposed method. In addition, comparisons between different definitions of safety factor are made, and necessary considerations required in the design of anchored sheet pile walls are examined.

Excessive thrust acting on the rotor of pump can cause the damage of pump or the decrease of pump lifetime. Therefore, for ensuring the safety of LOX pump of a liquid rocket engine, the thrust of pump rotor is estimated by similarity tests. Axial thrust is indirectly measured by an axial thrust measurement unit positioned outside pump. Radial thrust is calculated based on pressure distribution of volute scroll. As a result, axial and radial thrust are increased when the flowrate of pump decreases. However, both thrusts do not affect the stability of pump rotor since their values are not large.
Suction affects the unsaturated soil as the negative pore pressure, and leads to increases of the yield stress and the plastic shear stiffness of the soil skeleton due to the growth in interparticle stress. Hence, in this study, in order to account for these effects of suction under the dynamic loading condition such as the earthquake, the element simulation of the cyclic triaxial test using induced stress-strain relation based on cyclic elasto-plastic constitutive model extended for unsaturated soil considering the $1^{st}$ and the $2^{nd}$ yield functions was conducted. Through the stress path, stress-strain relation and relation between volumetric strain and axial strain, it was seen in all the cases that the simulation results demonstrated a good agreement with the experimental results. It is expected that the results of this study possibly contribute to the accuracy improvement on the prediction of unsaturated soil behavior under the dynamic loading condition.

Assessment of uncertainties of loads and resistances is prerequisite for the development of load and resistance factor design (LRFD). Many previous studies related to resistance factor calculations of piles were conducted for short or medium span bridges (span lengths less than 200m) reflecting the live load uncertainty for ordinary span bridges. In this study, by using a revised live load model and its uncertainty for long span bridges (span lengths longer than 200m and shorter than 1500m), resistance factors are recalibrated. For the estimation of nominal pile capacity (both base and shaft capacities), the Imperial College Pile (ICP) design method is used. For clayey and sandy foundation, uncertainty of resistance is assessed based on the ICP database. As long span bridges are typically considered as more important structures than short or medium span bridges, higher target reliability indices are assigned in the reliability analysis. Finally, resistance factors are calculated and proposed for the use of LRFD of driven piles for ordinary span and long span bridges.
In this study, numerical analysis is performed to determine highly influential factors that increase the possibility of asphalt road collapse due to cavity underneath the road. The considered influence factors on road collapse due to underground cavity were the asphalt layer thickness, the cover depth, the cavity width, and the cavity height. The concentrated load and uniform distributed pressure were applied on the top surface of asphalt pavement layers with different shape of cavity and asphalt thickness. For each analysis case of given cavity and asphalt thickness, failure load was analyzed under displacement controlled condition. Based on the analyzed failure loads, the applicability of the cavity management system developed by Seoul city was evaluated. As a result of the analysis, the effect of cavity height on road collapse was not significant while the other factors considerably influenced road collapse. Consequently, degree of road collapse susceptibility should be classified by failure load rather than by the condition of existing cavity.
Polyethylene(PE) pipes have been widely used as they are easy to construct and suitable for economical efficient when they are compared with metal pipelines. This paper studied the effect of various external loadings on stress and deflection of the buried PE pipes using Finite Element Method(FEM). For this purpose, stresses of buried PE pipes were calculated according to the loading condition such as pipe types(pipe diameter $50{\sim}400mm$), burial depths($0.6{\sim}1.2m$) and internal pressures($0.4{\sim}4bar$). As a result, it was founded the effect and relation with each of loading conditions under the buried condition.
To identify the reclamation history formed by top dredged soil reclamation layer over the original ground, various field tests and laboratory tests were conducted. Especially when the original ground was not completely consolidated, CPTu test was carried out to calculate rational settlement due to the banking load. CPTu test results showed that the degree of consolidation of weak clay ground by dredged reclamation was on average 80%. As the research area was not completely consolidated by dredged reclamation in the past, the consolidation settlement should account for the residual settlement (20%) in the case of additional banking load. When the degree of consolidation of the original ground was not taken into account, the residual consolidation was expected in excessive settlement (up to 20%) and in such case PBD (Plastic Board Drain) was not effective in obtaining desired degree of consolidation.
