A Total Design Process Using Design Structure Matrix (디자인 구조 매트릭스를 활용한 토탈 디자인프로세스에 관한 연구)

  • With subdivision of customers and markets, today, domains to design are expanding. When design merges with other spheres of design, it is important to convey a consistent message to customers. For delivering a message consistently and clearly, there is a need to reconcile different views in design processes. In this study, each design process was analyzed and the sequence was adjusted using the DSM methodology for understanding mutual dependent relations. For this, process activity elements were extracted with experts and a survey on related elements was conducted. Then the survey findings were divided for working out the sequence and based on the views regarding the sequence, a total design process was created.. As a result, the processes were combined into one sequence and there was a collaboration at the 10th stage. Also, a methodology used in collaboration and significant elements were analyzed. In conclusion, it is anticipated that this total design process would provide a more objective and scientific approach in collaboration among various spheres of design and help in reducing lead time.

  • Although Frank Lloyd Wright represents himself as one of the greatest American master architect, the master architects contribution towards the advancement in the modern history of architecture goes beyond just creating landmark buildings. Through out his life, he was the leading architect not only in the area or architectural design but showed his talent in interior architecture, furniture, fabric, lighting fixture, art glasses, tablewares, silver wares as well as in graphic design which should cover all the elements related to the "total design" in architecture. As seen in his architectural design, the "total design" concept also reflects both beauty and logic of the nature and strengthens his theory of the organic architecture design. The research began with finding out the relationship between his architecture, nature and the supporting design elements mentioned above. the purpose of the research is to analyze the relationship of the spatial organization and the design elements in Frank Lloyd Wrights architectural works from the point of "total design" view and provide the valuable guide line for the development of the modern interior design. His design theory, based on the fundamental ideas of the nature, his organic architecture design, and reference materials to support total design concept will be discussed on chapter 2. And on chapter 3, application of the total design in his actual project will be analyzed. The data and analyzation have been completed based on written references and actual visit to the project sites. Frank Lloyd Wright placed highest value on the human beings and enjoyed presenting new ideas and forms to create better environment for the humans through his architecture and interior design projects. While he was presenting new ideas he continued to support design for democracy which has close relationship to the new frontier spirit of America. He was the master architect for the general society with accurate understanding of the life style of the public with design sensitivity shown in his concept of the total design.s concept of the total design.

  • The home interior market has been expanding due to the continuing increase of single-person households, the craze for DIY interior design, the increasing demands for old-house renovation and the customer needs for good housing conditions. Now the building materials companies are scrambling for the whole interior market share. The heretofore companies have focused only on the single items, but now they are promoting the comprehensive interior products as total interior brands. Besides, they use their own showrooms to share their brand culture experience and have communication with their customers. As for the show rooms, they have got to represent the identities of the building materials brands. And to present them effectively, it needs to meet the customer needs and emotions. In this connection, the object of this study is to clarify the definitions and the characteristics of the show rooms and the experience design through the literature research, analysis the space characteristics of the experience design in the show rooms of total interior brands, investigate their customer satisfaction and present the direction and the effective methods of the space design for the show rooms of the future. And the study result shows the experience design is the key factor to the high user satisfaction. Thus, the show rooms should provide the well-balanced experience with the adoption of a variety of experience design elements. Especially, the experience design elements are needed in the room to display the merchandise. Lastly, the show rooms are expected to increase constantly, so the study targeted at the specific area, Seoul should be expanded to other areas. And this study based on the customer survey alone have a limit to giving the concrete proposals. Therefore, the follow-up studies with the different methods such as one-to-one interview will be in demand.

Analysis of the necklace design appearing in fashion collection (패션 컬렉션에 나타난 네크리스 디자인 분석)

  • In this study, we analyzed the whole design of the necklace in detail, which reflects the artistic sense of handicraft in couture. The purpose of the study was to identify the characteristics of the design based on the analysis findings and to provide basic data to help fashion designers. The research method entailed analyzing trends in necklace design - viewed in fashion magazines and on websites - by year, season, brand, kind, material, color, and image. The identified necklace design characteristics were as follows. First, artistry and originality are dramatically expressed through the use of a broad range of materials. Second, due to the necklace's role as an object of perfect beauty, in a number of images, the necklaces were presented in convergence and contrast with overall costumes. Third, the dramatic effects of layering revealed a strong presence and individualized styling. Necklaces are created with diverse sculptures by realizing the creative imagination of fashion designers. Even though they looked a little different every year, there were designs in the collections constantly. Round shape and princess length were preferred. In particular, the mix type was used to express dramatic effect by focusing neck part in entire styling which different length of necklaces were layered and worn. As a result, it meets the needs of consumers who emphasize brand differentiation and diversity, and it is believed that the role of necessities in fashion will continue and it creates economic demand in the fashion industry.

  • 2010 도쿄 국제 포장전(TOKYO PACK 2010)이 10월 5일(화)~8일(금)까지 4일간, 도쿄 빅사이트(Big Sight)에서 개최, 1966년에 제1회가 개최되어, 이번으로 제 23회째를 맞게 되었다. 이번 회에는 "성장의 힌트는, 포장에 있다"를 테마로 내세워, 포장의 최신기술이 다수 출품됐다. 출품사는 514사(단체), 1904부스의 규모로 포장자재, 포장기계, 포장가공기계, 식품 환경관련기재, 포장디자인 서비스, 유통 물류 시스템기기 등 포장에 관련되는 온갖 분야에서 최선단의 제품 기술이 전시됐다. 이번 전시회에서는 생산에서 물류까지 일관한 시스템 전시가 특징이다. 이러한 토탈 시스템 전시는 수많이 개최되는 국내외의 포장전에서도 유례를 볼 수 없는 것으로 양 질 모두 세계 최고클래스의 전시회로써 주목을 모았다.
