An Experimental Study of Flow Field in a Torque Converter (토크 컨버터 내부 유동장의 실험적 연구)

  • The flow field measurements were conducted on the planes between impeller blades, and the gap between the impeller and turbine blades under speed ratio of 0.4. The study showed that high velocity regions move from locations near the suction surface of the impeller to the pressure blade, shroud corner as flow progresses from the mid-chord of impeller passage to exit and out into the gap region. Planes 3 through 5 also showed flow reversal occurring in the area near the shell surface and progress far into the impeller passage from the impeller passage exit, near shell surface. This affected the converter efficiency negatively. This study would aid in the construction of higher accuracy CFD models of this complex turbomachinery device.

  • The gear system is commonly applied in the marine propulsion shafting system using the diesel engine with the power take off/in system and it also is necessary to reduce propeller revolution increasing the propulsion efficiency. The diesel engine has the advantage more than other thermal engines in high thermal efficiency and mobility. But the large vibratory torque which induced by higher combustion pressure is transmitted to these gears. In this paper, the surface durability and bending stress of gear system considering vibratory and transient torque is evaluated by ISO and AGMA regulation. And the influence of these in gear design is investigated with the theoretical analysis and onboard measurement result of torsional vibration.

  • 풍력터빈 블레이드 풍동시험의 경우 사용가능한 시험설비의 크기제한으로 인해 축소모델 사용이 불가피하며, 이로 인해 풍동시험에서는 실물 블레이드에 비해 10% 미만의 낮은 Re수에서 시험이 수행된다. 축소모델 블레이드 풍동시험 결과를 활용하여 실물 블레이드의 성능(토크)를 추정하기 위한 축소효과 보정기법을 2008년 제시하였으며, NREL Phase VI 모델 시험결과에 적용하였다. 당시 제시된 보정기법은 단일익형을 전체 블레이드에 사용한 사례이며 축소효과 보정을 위해 Re수에 따른 익형의 양력계수 변화만을 적용하였다. 본 논문에서는 당시 제안된 축소효과 보정기법을 익형의 양력계수 및 항력계수를 포함한 형태로 수정하였으며, 블레이드에 다수의 익형이 사용되었을 경우에 대해 확장하였다. NREL Phase VI 12% 시험모델의 경우 익형의 양력계수 기울기에 의한 보정량은 약 15% 정도이며, 항력계수 변화에 의한 보정량은 약 5% 정도로 나타났다. 블레이드에 다수의 익형이 사용되었을 경우 설계 또는 전산해석을 통해 구한 반경별 토크 함수를 적용하여 블레이드 축소효과를 보정할 수 있다.

  • 외전형 모터는 내전형 모터에 비해 소형화 및 경량화 시킬 수 있는 특징을 가진다. 그러나 회전자와 고정자간의 공극사이에 이심률이 있을 때, 불균형 모멘트로 인한 토크 리플이 내전형보다 더 크게 일어나는 단점이 있다. 이전의 연구들은 회전자 슬롯 형상의 변화에 따른 모터의 변화를 유한요소해석법을 통해 알아보았다. 우리는 이러한 유한요소해석법을 통한 시뮬레이션을 통해 외전형 모터에서 이심률이 발생 및 증가함에 따라 나타나는 토크 리플을 줄일 수 있는 최적화된 슬롯형태를 찾아보았다.

  • Since plug type passenger door has two motion modes, power transmission unit must be capable of plug-in or plug-out, and sliding mode. Complex planetary gear train is proposed, which is composed of two 2K-H, I type planetary gear units. For the proposed complex planetary gear train, ranges of addendum modification coefficients which would not lead to interferences is analyzed, and optimal addendum modification coefficients among these ranges which generate the maximum efficiency are presented. Based on the interference, efficiency and torque ratio analysis results, complex planetary new train is designed and manufactured.

  • 지금까지 사용된 2차원 유한요소해석은 자계의 프린징(Fringing) 및 누설 자계 등을 무시하기 때문에 정확한 특성을 파악하기 위해서는 3차원 모델을 사용하여야 한다. BLDC 모터의 회전자(자석)의 높이를 고정시킨 상태에서 고정자(Core) 높이의 변화에 따른 코깅(Cogging) 토크의 해석을 통해 높이 비에 대한 2차원과 3차원 유한요소해석 결과 사이에의 상관 오차에 대한 연구를 수행하였다 또한. 정자기의 3차원 형상 설계 민감도 해석 기법을 개발하였다. 개발된 정자기 민감도 프로그램(MAGSEN-magnetic sensitivity)은 유용성과 실용성을 보이기 위하여 BLDC 모터의 코깅토크를 줄이는 형상 최적설계에 적용되었다.

  • It is demonstrated that the torque performance of the flux barrier type synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) can be improved in terms of geometric parameters. Torque ana power factor are related to the difference of inductances and the saliency ratio. And these inductance characteristics are determined by the geometric parameters of rotor: the number of layers. the width of iron to the width of flux barrier($K_w$). slot number and shape, airgap, bridge, etc. The relationship between geometric parameters. especially, $K_w$ and motor performance will be studied. This paper shows that torque and power factor are improved through redesign with considering geometric parameters. Performance comparisons of proto type SynRM and improved SynRM are given by FEA(Finite Element Analysis).

Experimental Analyses of Flow in a Production Torque Converter Using LDV (LDV를 이용한 토크컨버터 내 유동의 실험적 분석)

  • LDV(laser Doppler velocimetry) measurements were conducted on the exit region of the impeller passage and the gap between the impeller and turbine blades under 0.8 speed ratio. The 0.8 speed ratio has an impeller speed of 2000rpm and a turbine speed of 1600rpm. A periodic variation of the mass flow rate is present in many of the measurements made. The frequency of this variation is the same as the frequency of the turbine blades passing the impeller passage exit. It is found that the instantaneous position of the turbine had effect on fluid flow inside the impeller passage and gap region. This study would aid in the construction of higher accuracy CFD models of this complex turbomachinery device.

Comparison of Swirl Ratio Measured by Impulse Swirl Meter and Particle Image Velocimetry in a Steady Flow Bench of SI Engine (SI 엔진의 정상유동장치에서 충격식 스월미터와 입자영상유속계의 스월비 측정에 대한 비교 연구)

  • The swirl ratio in a SI engine is investigated in a steady flow bench according to the measurement methods: an impulse swirl meter and particle image velocimetry (PIV). When measuring the swirl ratio using the PIV, the torque is evaluated based on the cylinder center and swirl center, respectively. The position of the measurement plane is considered. As a result, in the upstream, the swirl ratio measured by the impulse swirl meter is estimated to be larger than that from the PIV measurements due to the unstable vortex motions. Regarding the PIV measurements, the swirl ratio based on the cylinder center has been found to be lower than that based on the swirl center. On the other hand, the difference in swirl ratio has decreased smaller as the measurement plane moved downstream due to the stabilization of the vortex motion.
