Sergei Eisenstein explains pathos as the basic principles of artistic creation in "The Structure of the Film" written in 1939. The definition of pathos is embodied as effect to leap the audience in ecstasy. Pathos aiming at qualitative configuration of the audience's emotions is film form and the core of cinematic expression as important as montage. Eisenstein as one of the greatest film directors sought to theorize cinematic art. He wanted to fuse the creative and theory of film through principles such as the collision montage, intellectual image, and construction of pathos. This study explores the background of the discussion that Eisenstein going beyond the status as an artist wanted to experiment with montage to lead the change in audience and build pathos effect in the extended. This article examines the meaning of pathos in works of art he explained. It should also be understood the construction of pathos for changing the emotion of the audience through the example of the film he analyzed.
Liposome powders were prepared by a freeze-drying method for the application to the field of drug carrier. The effect of maltose as a liposome stabilizer was studied on the stability and the drug-loading efficiency of the freeze-dried liposome powders. The particle size of liposomes before and after freeze-drying was determined to evaluate the liposome stability. The drug-loading efficiency was measured by Fluorescence spectrophotometer using calcein as a model drug. When maltose was added after the preparation of the liposomes, the liposomes was stable, compared to the case of maltose addition at the hydration procedure. By the addition of maltose, the liposome was stable for 30 days at $4{\sim}37^{\circ}C$, while the particle size of the liposome without maltose increased with time. The liposome showed relatively high stability when the maltose/lipids molar ratio was 3 and 6.

Classic galactosemia is a rare genetic disorder in Korea and the mutation spectrum in Koreans differs from that of Caucasians and non-Caucasian Americans. Classic galactosemia is considered a metabolic complication that is preventable by early detection via newborn screening and dietary treatment. In this most recent case of Korean galactosemia, the patient showed early initiation of clinical symptoms, which manifested during the neonatal period. The patient achieved normalization via diet management to correct metabolic complications. In addition, we assessed the characteristics of mutations in 25 Korean galactosemia cases via a literature review of studies associated with classic galactosemia.

Cell culture infectivity assay using HCT-8 cell was combined with most-probable-number technique to evaluate the inactivation of Cryptosporidium parvum by various disinfectants, including chlorine, ozone, and UV light. The assay was demonstrated to be as sensitive as animal infectivity assay, which has been considered the "gold standard" for assessing Cryptosporidium oocyst infectivity, and a valuable tool to evaluate inactivation of C. parvum by disinfectants. Bench-scale inactivation study showed that at the condition of $5^{\circ}C$ and pH 7.0, CT value of $1,250mg{\cdot}min/L$ by chlorine and $16mg{\cdot}min/L$ by ozone were required to achieve approximately 1.0 log inactivation of C. parvum, suggesting that even ozone could not be sufficient to inactivate C, parvum at low. temperature. Unlike chlorine and ozone, UV light is very effective to inactivate C. parvum, regardless of temperature. A UV light dose of 2 $mJ/cm^2$ provided at least 3 log inactivation of C. parvum.
Monoclonal antibodies (Ub) against merozoites and sporozoites of the protozoan parasite Cryptosporidium pcnjum were examined for potential modulation of cryptosporidial infections in vivo by daily oral Ub administration to oocyst-inoculated neonatal mice. Monoclonal-treated neonatal mice were sacrified four and eight days post infection (pi) . Differences in infection rates were observed among the treatment groups at the p < 0.05 level. Suckling mice treated daily with orally administered mixtures of mAbs( ascitic fluids) showed significantly reduced parasite loads compared to control mice at flour and eight days pi, while suckling mice receiving mAb Cmg-3 alone showed signiacant differences only at 4 days Pi., suggesting that passive transfer of mAb may be of value in controlling cryptosporidial infections.
To determine the efficacy of immunotherapeutic agents, four female Holstein calves 7-day-old were inoculated per os with $1{\times}10^7$ C parvum oocysts (VRI-CN91). Each calf received twice daily oral dosage of 200-500ml of the immune bovine serum, immune bovine colostrum, mAb C6, and phosphate-buffered saline, respectively. Treatment was initiated 4 days postinfection and laster 3 days. The clinical sign of the calf treated with phosphate-buffered saline lasted 9 days after the initial treatment. The calves treated with those immunotherapeutic agents, however, showed decreased severity of diarrhea at day 3, 2, 5 after the initial administration, respectively. The calves treated with immunotherapeutic agents showed reduced parasite loads compared to control calf. These results suggest that oral passive immunotherapy with immune bovine colostrum and immune bovine serum may be a useful treatment approach.
The effects of toasting, simulated gimgui (dried and toasted laver) manufacturing, on lipid oxidation and antioxidant and pigment contents of dried laver (Porphyra spp.) were evaluated by peroxide value (POV) and conjugated dienoic acid (CDA) value measurement, HPLC, and spectrophotometry. Dried laver was toasted for 40 or 300 s at $120^{\circ}C$, or for 2 or 5 s at $250^{\circ}C$. The POV and CDA contents were significantly higher in the toasted samples (0.60-0.69 mmol/kg and 2.17-4.20%, respectively) except in samples toasted at $120^{\circ}C$ for 40 s, compared to those in the non-toasted samples (0.43 mmol/kg and 1.21%, respectively). Chlorophyll was the most stable pigment during toasting (>90% retention), followed by carotenoids (50-77% retention) and phycocyanins and phycoerythrins (13-73% retention). Porphyran was the most stable antioxidant (>95% retention), and polyphenols, the most unstable antioxidant (24-75% retention). Despite the degradation of pigments and antioxidants during toasting, the dried laver still contained health-benefiting components after toasting.
Deletions between UASG and the GALI TATA box reduced glucose repression and allowed constitutive expression of the gene product in the absence of galactose. The relative inducer level (ratio of galactose/glucose concentrations) affected the extent of gene expression and glucose repression. Glucose repression was reduced by a factor of 2 to 5 as the relative inducer level increased. In the medium containing galactose only, induction of ${\beta}$-galactosidase synthesis by galactose increased with plasmid copy number. On the contrary, plasmid copy number did not affect significantly ${\beta}$-galactosidase synthesis in the medium containing both glucose and galactose (2% glucose+2% galactose), which might be due to glucose repression caused by high glucose concentration. However, when the medium contained the relatively high inducer level (0.4% glucose+0.8% galactose), ${\beta}$-galactosidase synthesis increased with plasmid copy number, indicating that the beneficial effect of higher galactose concentration was weaker than the repressive effect of higher glucose concentration.
