Effectiveness of Video- and Discussion-based Smoking Cessation Intervention for Adolescents (시청각 교육과 토론을 통합한 청소년 금연교육 프로그램의 효과 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of video-and discussion-based smoking cessation intervention for adolescents. And this study is intended to provide a basic database for the development of health education, to serve health promotion for adolescent. The subjects were 472 high school students in K yungkido. The data was collected from September 23th to October 31 st, 2002. The data was collected by the measurement of knowledge, attitude, and intention toward smoking. Pre-research was conducted before smoking cessation education and post-research was performed twice, immediately after the education and 4 weeks later. Collected data was analyzed by using the SPSS 10.0 which is a computational statistical program. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Total knowledge points in smoking cessation program-based group are higher than any other groups and the statistical difference is significant. 2. The students' attitude points in experimental groups are higher than that of the control group and the statistical difference is significant. However, the meaningful statistical difference disappeared after 4 weeks. 3. The non-smoking students' intention points do not show any significant difference. And the smoking students' intention points in experimental groups are higher than that of the control group but the statistical difference is insignificant. 4. There are correlations among knowledge, attitude and intention toward smoking: knowledge and attitude are negatively correlated, knowledge and intention are positively correlated for non-smoking students, and for smoking students, attitude and intention have a negative correlation.

Charge-coupled analog-to-Digital Converter (전하결합소자를 이용한 Analog-to-Digital 변화기)

  • Experimental results on a 4-bit charge-coupled A/D converter are described. Major operations in the successive approximation algorithm are implemented in a monolithic chip, CCADC, which was fabricated usir p-channel CCD technology, with its die size of 4,200 mil2 Typical operating frequency range has been found out to be from 500Hz to 200kHz. In that frequency range, no missing code has been found in the whole signal range of 2.4 volts for ramp signal slewing at 1 LSB/(sampling time). A discussion is made on several layout techniques to conserve the nominal binary ratio of (8:4:2:1) among the areas of four adjacent potential wells (M wells), whose charge storing capacities correspond to each bit magnitude - 3.6 pC, 1.8 pC, 0.9 pC, and 0.45 pC nominal in the order of MSB to the LSB. The effect of 'dump slot', which is responsible for the excessive nonlinearity (2$\frac{1}{2}$LSB) in the A/D converter, is explained. A novel input scheme called 'slot zero insertion' to circumvent the deleterious effects of the dump slot is described with the experimental results.

  • 오늘날 에너지 공급(供給)을 위한 새로운 해결책(解決策)의 하나로서 등장(登場)한 원자력발전소(原子力發電所), 재래(在來)의 X선(線) 진료(診療) 이외(以外)에 의학계(醫學界)에 도입(導入)된 방사선원(放射線源), 그리고 각종(各種) 전자생산품(電子生産品) 등(等)의 증가현상(增加現象)은 방사선(放射線) 방어(防禦) 문제(問題)와 관련(關聯)하여 보건의학분야(保健醫學分野)에서 종사(從事)하는 사람들에게 지대(至大)한 관심(關心)거리가 되고있다. 그래서, 우선(于先) 방사선(放射線)에 관(關)한 사항(事項)중에서 가장 기초(基礎)가되는 방사선량계측(放射線量計測)에 있어서 그 양(量)과 단위(單位) 문제(問題)가 체계적(體系的)으로 서술(敍述)되었다. 즉(卽) 방사선(放射線)이 인체(人體)에 끼칠 수 있는 해(害)로운 영향(影響)에 그 주안점(主眼點)을 두어 조사선량(照射線量), 흡수선량(吸收線量), 선량당량(線量當量), 그리고 그들의 관계(關係) 및 방사능등(放射能等)에 관(關)하여 토론(討論)되었다. 특(特)히 조사선량률(放射線量率), X는 비(比)감마선선상수(線常數), ($\Gamma$)를 포함(包含)하는 함수(函數)로 표현(表現)되었고, 끝으로 인체(人體) 내부(內部)에 축적(蓄積)된 방사능(放射能)으로부터의 영향(影響)에 의(依)한 이른바 생물학적효과(生物學的效果) (Somatic or Genetic Effects)와 관련(關聯)되는 내부흡수선량율(內部吸收線量率)은 평형흡수선량상수(平衡吸收線量常數)($\Delta_i$)와 흡수율($F_i$)를 포함(包含)하는 수학적(數學的) 모델로 소개(紹介)되었다. 한편 방사능(放射能)은 방사선원(放射線源) 물질(物質)의 자연붕괴율(自然崩壞率)이므로 다른 방사선량(放射線量)들 즉(卽) 조사선량(照射線量), 흡수선량(吸收線量)그리고 선량당량(線量當量)과는 별도(別途)로 취급(取扱)하였음을 부언(附言)한다.

Workplace Learning as a Broadcasting Job Training for the College Students (방송 실무교육으로서의 일터학습 사례 연구)

  • Workplace learning is actually vastly underutilized as of yet even though it is necessary preparation course for the skilled broadcasting people. This paper pays attentions to the workplace learning that carried out by the college students as a class activity to find the way to get a desirable result for the job training. Data obtained from the focus group discussion comprised of 14 college students majoring broadcasting. Based on the results of the discussion, it finds that students faced detailed broadcasting environments let them adjust to and realize the position and role of contents providers who are struggling to survive competitive period. The students experienced informal learning reached to the tacit knowledge - including interview skill, camera and editing details, news framing, and interpersonal relationships - through a various routes such as mistakes, feedbacks, competitions and imitations while they practiced in the workplace. From these findings, this paper can conclude that the lecturers who are leading job training courses need to be concerned and utilize workplace learning actively.

  • The education of radiological technology in Korea is provided lots of information but are low effectiveness of studying due to attach importance to traditional lecture preparing for the national exam of radiological technologist. With a critique about traditional education, a new method of teaching, PBL(Problem based learning) can meet with the workplace through problems and see the real world of occupation objectively taking part in a self-directed learning and cooperative discussion process. And when become a radiological technologist as a member of current society can build up solving problems and ability of communicative competence. We suggest problem-based learning for the education of radiological technologist, hope to see make for cultivating radiological technologist of ability and improve the quality of education.

Exploring the effect of collective intelligence through the 'World Cafe' conversations (집단지성 구현을 위한 토의 수업에서 '월드카페형 대화법'의 적용 가능성 모색)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of 'World Cafe' conversations for collective intelligence. For this purpose, 'World Cafe' was applied to the class 'presentation and discussion' of university class. To explore the effect of 'World Cafe' conversations for collective intelligence I surveyed the responses of students participating in the class and analyzed results of the survey and class activities. The results are as follows: first, 82 percent of all students were actively involving in the class, second, topics were more discussed through World Cafe class than general discussion class. These results suggest 'World Cafe' class induced active participation of the students in class and have the effect producing the collective intelligence.

  • Teaching is communication between instructor and students. The learning outcomes can be enhanced by active learning of students. However, there are many obstacles to effective learning below, such as lecture notes authored by instructor, passive student participation, and paper-based homework. In this paper, we propose an effective method for enhancing learning effect through constructing learner ontologies in which knowledge discovered by students is conceptualized and organized. The learning ontology is composed of a teacher ontology and many learner ontologies. The learning ontology is used in discussion, visual presentation, and knowledge sharing between instructor and students. We used the learning ontology in two lectures in practice and learned that the learning ontology enhances learning effect through analysis of feedbacks of students.

An Economic Theory of Sleeping Patents (휴면특허의 경제이론)

  • The paper constructs the economic theory of sleeping patents in the knowledge-based economy. Starting with the definition of sleeping patents, we suggest the types of sleeping patents, intended and unintended ones. While intended sleeping patents are divided into 'for-defending technological position' and 'for-describing past technology', unintended sleeping patents include frictional, intrinsic, market-deficient, and institutional ones. We also introduce the concept of the natural rate of sleeping patent and measure the social loss due to sleeping patents. The study can contribute to solving policy problems for utilizing registered patents. For example, if we measure the natural rate of sleeping patent in Korea, we can estimate 'tolerable rate of sleeping patent' and control the extend of policy intervention for patents utilization. Since we invest the theory of sleeping patents firstly, the suggested concepts should be elaborated through further discussion in depth.

Effects of Modality and Smart Device on Learner's Interaction Experience in Online Learning (스마트 기기를 활용한 온라인 토론학습에서 모달리티가 학습자의 상호작용경험에 미치는 영향)

  • Along with the rapid diffusion of smart devices, smart learning has been taking place as a main pedagogy in education. Under these drastic changing circumstances, social presence and interaction between learners have been highlighted as key factors in educational research. In this light of rising importance, this study examined the effects of modality and smart device on users' perceived social presence and interaction experience in a smart learning environment. It conducted 2(text based interface vs. audio/video based interface) by 2(smartphone vs. tablet PC) between-subjects experiment. 80 participants were systematically recruited and randomly assigned to four conditions. The findings showed that social presence was higher in audio/video based interface condition than in text based interface condition. Modality also had a positive effect on learner's interaction experience. On the other hand, the effect of smart device is found to be statistically insignificant. Instead, interaction effect existed between modality and device on social presence. The result of this study suggests that the modality and characteristics of device should be considered seriously when designing interface of smart learning contents. The findings in this study provide future studies with heuristic implications by highlighting users' perceived cognition and experience.

Developing and Applying Environmental Education Learning Modules Using Goal-Based Scenario (목표기반시나리오를 활용한 환경교육 교수·학습모듈의 개발과 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop learning modules for environmental education using goal-based scenarios and to examine their pedagogical benefits at the elementary educational level. To enhance environmental knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior, this research developed learning modules relevant to three sub-dimensions of environmental education: education about environment, education in environment, and education for environment. In particular, this study provided useful educational strategies based on students' everyday lives. The developed modules consisted of three parts: 1) acquiring knowledge concerning the cause of global warming, 2) practicing and internalizing environmental knowledge in students' everyday lives, and 3) extending and disseminating environmental knowledge and awareness to other people. After applying the modules, the students acquired knowledge regarding the causes of global warming through discussions with their peers, and furthermore, exercised pro-environmental behaviors in their everyday lives. Moreover, the participants created UCC to urge other people to act for environment.
