In this study, we investigated the operation data of combined heat and power in accordance with the change of the inlet guide vane with partial load. The partial load 80% could close the inlet guide vane up to 24%, and the exhaust gas temperature could be increased by 52℃. The partial load 90% could close the inlet guide vane up to 12%, and the exhaust gas temperature could be increased by 23℃. At 80% of partial load with the thermal load tracking mode, the output could be increased up to 5.68 MW, the combined cycle efficiency increased by 0.73%, and the combined heat and power efficiency increased by 1.81%. At 90% of the partial load, the output could be increased up to 2.55 MW, the combined cycle efficiency increased by 0.32%, and the combined heat and power efficiency increased by 0.72%.

A steady-state and dynamic simulation program for a small multi-purpose turboshaft engine with the free power turbine was developed. In order to reduce developing cost, time and risk, a turbojet engine whose performance was well-known was used for the gas generator, and life time was improved by replacing turbine material and by using Larson-Miller curves. The component characteristic of the power turbine was derived from scaling the gas generator turbine. Equilibrium equations of mass flow rate and work were used for the steady-state performance analysis, and the Constant Flow Method(CMF) was used for the dynamic performance simulation. The step fuel scheduling was carried out for acceleration in the dynamic simulation. Through this simulation, it was found that the overshoot of the turbine inlet temperature exceeded over the compressor turbine limit temperature.

An analysis has been conducted of the optimal condition to maximize the specific impulse for a liquid rocket engine with film cooling. The present engine performance has been compared with the published conceptual design to be verified satisfactorily accurate. The optimal combination of film coolant flow rate and the regenerative cooling capacity has been found for maximum specific impulse. The optimal fuel pump pressure increases and the optimal film coolant flow decreases for a larger thrust engine. Higher turbine inlet temperature increases both the fuel pump pressure and the film coolant flow rate as the optimal condition. The coking temperature has the same qualitative effect as the turbine inlet temperature.

The preliminary design of a radial inflow turbine using R134a as the working fluid at 5 kW of power for application to ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is performed to obtain the trends for the efficiency and geometrical dimensions of the turbine. Using input conditions that included a turbine inlet temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, an outlet static pressure of 4.9 bar, and a mass flow rate of 1.16 kg/s, the results of a mean flow analysis show the major dimensions of the turbine, along with an angular velocity of 12,820 rpm. Based on these results, a three-dimensional turbine model is constructed for a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. The flow characteristics inside the turbine, including the volute and nozzle, are investigated using the CFD software ANSYS CFX. For a pertinent number of nozzle guide vanes, ranging from 10 to 15, the turbine efficiency was higher than 80%, with the highest efficiency shown by a nozzle with 15 guide vanes.
Pressurized fluidized bed combustion unit is operated at pressures of 1~1.5 MPa with combustion temperatures of 850~87$0^{\circ}C$. The pressurized coal combustion system heats steam, in conventional heat transfer tubing, and produces a hot gas supplied to a gas turbine. Gas cleaning is a vital aspect of the system, as is the ability of the turbine to cope with some residual solids. The need to pressurize the feed coal, limestone and combustion air, and to depressurize the flue gases and the ash removal system introduces some significant operating complications. The proportion of power coming from the steam : gas turbines is approximately 80:20%. Pressurized fluidized bed combustion and generation by the combined cycle route involves unique control considerations, as the combustor and gas turbine have to be properly matched through the whole operating range. The gas turbines are rather special, in that the maximum gas temperature available from the FBC is limited by ash fusion characteristics. As no ash softening should take place, the maximum gas temperature is around 90$0^{\circ}C$. As a result a high pressure ratio gas turbine with compression intercooling is used. This is to offset the effects of the relatively low temperature at the turbine inlet.

A steady state performance simulation and diagnostics program for the turboprop engine (PT6A-62), which is the power plant of the first developed military basic trainer KT-1 in Republic of Korea, was developed. The developed steady state performance analysis program was evaluated with the performance data provided by the engine manufacturer and with analysis results of GASTURB program, which is well known for the performance simulation of gas turbines. Performance parameters were discussed to evaluate validity of the developed program at various cases such as altitude, flight velocity and part load variation. GPA(Gas Pass Analysis) allows engine performance deterioration to be identified at the module level in terms of reduction in component efficiencies and changes in mass flow. In order to find optimal instrument set to detect the physical faults such as fouling, erosion and corrosion, a gas path analysis approach is utilized. This study was performed in two cases for selection of optimal measurement parameters. One case was considered with the effect of instrument number by changing independent parameter number. The other case was performed with selection of independent parameter set. According to the analysis results, the optimal measurement parameters selected were eight dependent variables such as shaft horsepower, fuel flow rate, compressor exit pressure and temperature, compressor turbine inlet pressure and temperature and power turbine inlet pressure and temperature.
Wet compression means the injection of water droplets into the compressor of gas turbines. This method decreases the compression work and increases the turbine output by decreasing the compressor exit temperature through the evaporation of water droplets inside the compressor. This paper provides thermodynamic and aerodynamic analysis on wet compression in a centrifugal compressor for a microturbine. The meanline performance analysis of centrifugal compressor is coupled with the thermodynamic equation of wet compression to get the meanline performance of wet compression. The most influencing parameter in the analysis is the evaporative rate of water droplets. It is found that the impeller exit flow temperature and compression work decreases as the evaporative rate increases. And the exit flow angle decreases as the evaporative rate increases.

An exergy analysis is carried out for the regenerative steam-injection gas turbine systems which has a potential of enhanced thermal efficiency and specific power. Using the analysis model in the view of the second law of thermodynamics, the effects of pressure ratio, steam injection ratio, ambient temperature and turbine inlet temperature are investigated on the performance of the system such as exergetic efficiency, heat recovery ratio of heat exchangers, exergy destruction, loss ratios, and on the optimal conditions for maximum exergy efficiency. The results of computation show that the regenerative steam-injection gas turbine system can make a notable enhancement of exergy efficiency and reduce irreversibilities of the system.
The turbine system composed of a nozzle and a rotor is used to drive turbopumps while gas passes through the nozzle, potential energy is converted to kinematic energy, which forces the rotor blades to spin. In this study, an aerodynamic design of a turbine system is investigated using compressible fluid dynamic theories with some pre-determined design requirements (i.e.,pressure ratio, rotational speed, required power etc.) obtained from a liquid rocket engine (L.R.E.) system design. For simplicity of a turbine system, impulse-type rotor blades for open type L.R.E. have been chosen. Usually, the open-type turbine system requires low mass flow rate compared to the close-type system. In this study, a partial admission nozzle is adopted to maximize the efficiency of the close-type turbine system. A design methodology of the a turbine system has been introduced. Especially, a partial admission nozzle has been designed by means of simple empirical correlations between efficiency and configuration of the nozzle. Finally, a turbine system design for a 10 ton thrust level of L.R.E is presented.
