Performance Analysis of Electric Rail Car Office Using Computer Simulation (시뮬레이션을 이용한 전동차사무소 수행도 평가)

  • A performance analysis for newly being considered electric rail car office has been made in this study. The major purpose is to examine a proposed design in terms of its capacity and the proposed number of travels (82-84) per day. For this study we first examined the overall system configuration with detailed operational processes of cleaning and inspection. We then developed a simulation model using ARENA and designed input data from 12 selected factors and their interaction effects. A simulation run for each treatment combination of $L_{16}(2^{15})$ orthogonal array was run and 20 batch means were obtained. Through careful analyses of the results obtained, we drew a diversity of suggestions including the best factor level combination. Our confirmation experiments at the optimal level combination further validate the possibility of 82 runs and the consistency in the results.

  • Underwater communication is affected by reverberation and noise characteristics of the underwater channel and time delay takes place by multipath. Hence, Signal is distorted and a lot of error is generated in the transmitting/receiving by multipath effects, so a channel coding for error correction is required. We propose a channel coding algorithm which is possible to correct error of received signal. We compare and analyze BER(bit error rate) performance depending on the depth of each transmitter-receiver using channel coding algorithm. QPSK was used as a modulation method, and 1/2 code rate convolution coding was used as a coding rate. A convolution coding method shows increase of BER performances.

  • Because of the complexity of the underwater environment, the communication has difficulties that can differ significantly from those in air, The signal is degraded by many random noises. Furthermore, the limit of the bandwidth is a big issue in underwater communication. Therefore, the array signal processing can be adapted to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. In this paper, we propose a potential method for underwater communication based upon source tracking techniques. Also, a new tracking model by using a multi-array sonar and detail of the multi-array sonar configuration are shown in this paper. The experiment results demonstrated the receiver configuration is very potential to solve communication problems, especially in the underwater environment.

  • 동해 울릉분지에서 1998년 8월 수중 폭발성 음원인 SUS를 이용하여 수온구조를 파악하기 위하여 해양음향 토모그래피 실험을 수행하였다. 실험은 관측해역 중앙에 수직선배열 수신기(수심 270-360m, 10개)를 설치하고 수신기를 중심으로 반경 30km와 603m에서 항공기를 이용하여 SUS charge(244m)를 36개 지점에 투하하였다. 역산결과와 비교하기 위해 AXBT를 이용하여 각 지점에 대한 수직 수온관측이 동시에 수행되었다. 도달시간 계산을 위해 폭발수심 및 시간은 실험식을 이용하였으며 이를 이용하여 음선경로별 도달시간을 관측하였다. 수직단면 수층을 여러 충으로 나누어 격자별 음선 전파거리를 계산, 표준해양에 대한 도달시간 차이를 이용한 역산 결과는 관측결과와 비교했을 떼 각각의 결과는 차이가 있었으나 전반적인 경향은 유사하게 나타났다.

Effects of the Multipath Propagation on the Source Bearing Detection of HLA at near range (다중경로 음파전달이 HLA의 근거리 방위탐지에 미치는 영향)

  • To analyze the multipath propagation effects on the source bearing detection of HLA(Horizontal Line Array), the conversion mechanism of the multipath into the bearing is described, and the bearing is estimated from the multipath modeled with typical sound velocity structures of the East and the South Sea of Korea. The erroneous bearing is observed from the beamforming outputs simulated with the modeled multipath, and the erroneous phenomena are analyzed. In case of the East Sea, since the multipath propagation with a high receiving angle occurs due to strong inverse slope of the sound velocity structure, it is possible that the estimated source bearing is different from the real source bearing, and that the number of the source is misrecognized.

  • MIL-HDBK-217 has played a pivotal role in reliability prediction of electronic equipments for more than 30 years. Recently, RIAC developed a new methodology $217Plus^{TM}$which officially replaces MIL-HDBK-217. Sensitivity analysis of the 217Plus component models to various parameters has been performed and meaningful observations have been drawn in this study. We first briefly reviewed the $217Plus^{TM}$ methodolog and compared it with the conventional model, MIL-HDBK-217. We then performed sensitivity analysis $217Plus^{TM}$ component models to various parameters. Based on the six parameters and an orthogonal array selected, we have performed indepth analyses concerning parameter effects on the model. Our result indicates that, among various parameters, operating temperature and temperature rise during operation have the most significant impacts on the life of a component, and thus a design robust to high temperature is the most importantly required. Next, year of manufacture, duty cycle, and voltage stress are weaker but may be significant when they are in heavy load conditions. Although our study is restricted to a specific type of diodes, the results are still valid to other cases. The results in this study not only figure out the behavior of the predicted failure rate as a function of parameters but provide meaningful guidelines for practical applications.

  • LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel cutting problem is a sort of two dimensional cutting stock problem. A cutting stock problem is problem that it minimizes the loss of the stock when a stock is cut into various parts. In the most research of the two dimensional cutting stock problem, it is supposed that the relative angle of a stock and parts is not important. Usually the angle is regarded as horizontal or perpendicular. In the manufacturing of polarizing film of LCD, the relative angle should be maintained at some specific angle because of the physical and/or chemical characteristics of raw material. We propose a mathematical model for solving this problem, a two-dimensional non-Guillotine cutting stock problem that is restricted by an arranged angle. Some example problems are solved by the C++ program using ILOG CPLEX classes. We could get the verification and validation of the suggested model based on the solutions.

Research on Segmentation for Sidescan Sonar Image by Morphological Method (사이드스캔소나 이미지의 모폴로지 기법을 이용한 세그먼테이션에 관한 연구)

  • There are many researches on segmentation of sidescan sonar image to recognize or classify the underwater objects. Although existing algorithms's performance is good in detecting object's shadow and reducing the underwater noise, the computing time is very low. In this paper we try to separate shadow from background and segment the underwater image by using morphological method using background's noise distribution characteristics and object's shadow charateristics. This algorithm is useful when the average of background is lower than the average of the shadow, because this is adjusted from the background's chracteristics. Results shows that the algorithm works fine in multiple object environments and the computing time is reduced to 1 second.

Statistical Characteristics of Bottom Backscattering by a Moving Source at a Shallow Water Site (천해에서 이동음원으로 측정한 해저면 후방산란의 통계적 특성)

  • Fluctuation statistics of scattering strength are not only important because they impact the performance of active sonar systems, but also because they may provide insight into the major scattering process. In this article, analysis of the statistical characteristics of bottom backscattering, measured in shallow water, are presented. The slowly moving experimental sonar was operated at 30kHz to gather data over the bottom. Spatial and temporal correlation functions of the signal amplitudes were measured. The distribution function and probability of false alarm function of the detected envelope of widebeam and narrowbeam signals were measured. An attempt was made to compare the results with existing theoretical models. The result suggests that the statistical characteristics of bottom backscattering fluctuation of moving source is differ from that of fixed source.

Analysis of City Traffic Infrastructure for Chuncheon Legoland (춘천 레고랜드를 대비한 시내 교통 기반 분석)

  • Chuncheon city is constructing a world-wide famous theme park, Chuncheon Legoland. In this study, analysis of the city traffic infrastructure for Chuncheon Legoland has been performed. We first reviewed the current city traffic condition with regard to the park. We then defined potential customers and arrivals, streets, and routing street sequences to the park. Based on a measure, occupation ratio, reflecting traffic condition we designed experiments for analysis and obtained results from simulation. Our results indicate that severe traffic delay is expected during the peak season and is significant especially in streets 9,11,16. We performed additional experiments with increasing the number of lanes of them and obtained improved results.
