The Logistics Equipment Carbon Emission Monitoring System for a Green Port (Green Port 구현을 위한 물류장비 탄소배출 모니터링 시스템)

  • 미국 환경단체가 발표한 자료에 따르면, 항만이 대기오염의 주범으로 알려진 자동차나 발전소보다 더 많은 오염물질을 배출하고 있으며, 특히 컨테이너트럭과 하역장비에서 많은 오염물질을 배출하는 것으로 확인되었다. 세계 5위의 컨테이너 물동량을 처리하는 부산항을 비롯하여 많은 항만을 보유하고 있는 우리나라도 적극적으로 항만에서 배출하는 온실가스를 감축하기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 IP-RFID라는 새로운 기술을 이용하여 항만 터미널내의 물류장비(컨테이너 트럭, 하역장비 등)들의 탄소배출량을 실시간으로 관리할 수 있는 모니터링시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 개발하는 모니터링시스템은 개별 물류장비의 탄소량을 실시간으로 측정하여 IP통신을 통해 다양한 사용자에게 직접 정보를 전달할 수 있는 IP-Tag를 부착하여, 개별 물류장비별 탄소배출량을 적극적으로 관리할 수 있는 시스템이다. 이 시스템을 통해 물류장비별로 탄소배출량 관리가 가능해지고 운전자도 실시간으로 장비의 탄소배출량을 확인할 수 있기 때문에, 항만의 탄소배출량을 감축할 수 있을 것이다.

  • The concept of consumption-based greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory is directly related with the carbon content of international trade. Along the lines of the consumption-based GHG inventory, we investigate domestic and foreign carbon contents embodied in sectoral exports of Korea. In addition to the analysis of carbon content of exports, it is investigated how much share of responsibility for carbon emissions of Korea belongs to each major trading partner of Korea. We also compute the carbon intensities of Korean exports in carbon chain with other trading partners and find some characteristics revealed in Korea's carbon emissions embodied in its exports.

  • Out of all the possible actions that can be taken to respond to greenhouse gas reduction, including development of greenhouse gas reduction technology, infrastructure, actions to improve energy saving and efficiency, and offset with carbon emission reductions (CERs), this study shall focus on the investment on CERs. This study will take a look at risks involved with investing in CERs such as UN registration refusal risk and CERs price fluctuation, and will design risk management model which shall be verified. The goal of this paper is to provide optimized CERs investment strategies for different types of investors, such as general trading companies seeking for investment opportunities and financial companies with plans for green products development and investment by preparation for carbon market. It is expected that the global competitiveness of domestic financial companies shall be improved by taking actions on carbon market instead of previous passive response to climate change and that Korea, the number two Carbon Emissions supplier and number one derivatives market in terms of volume, shall be able to lead the worldwide carbon market.

  • Cap and Trade 제도 하에서 발전사업자는 탄소배출권 가격의 불확실성이라는 새로운 위험에 노출이 된다. 따라서 발전사업자가 전일 셀프스케쥴링을 실시함에 있어 전력 가격의 불확실성 뿐 아니라 탄소배출권 가격의 불확실성 또한 고려할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 전력 가격과 탄소 배출권 가격의 불확실성을 모두 고려한 발전사업자의 전일 셀프스케쥴링 문제를 고려하였다. 탄소배출권 시장의 거래상당 부분이 발전사업자에 의해 이루어지므로 전력 가격과 탄소 배출권 가격의 상관관계를 고려하여 셀프스케쥴링 문제를 정식화 하였다. 셀프스케쥴링의 결과로 나온 발전사업자의 기대수익과 기대수익의 변동성은 발전사업자의 위험회피정도에 따라 달라짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 산불발생 시 온실가스의 배출량을 추정하기 위한 기초 연구로서 산림연료의 연소에 따른 탄소배출량을 분석하였다. 산림연료는 소나무를 대상으로 생엽, 가지, 수피 등 부위별로 연소실험을 수행하였으며, 콘칼로리미터를 이용하여 일산화탄소와 이산화탄소의 배출량을 분석하였다. 중량 50g의 연료 기준, 일산화탄소의 배출량은 1.8~4.0g 정도였으며, 이산화탄소의 배출량은 49.3~84.7g 정도를 나타냈다. 부위별로 큰 차이를 나타냈는데 수피는 생엽과 가지보다 상대적으로 많은 일산화탄소와 이산화탄소를 배출하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • In this paper, we have established the procedures for $CO_2$ emission estimation BIM libraries by using the material takeoff function that BIM tools fundamentally provide, and verified its availability by applying to steel structures. The BIM library set-up procedures were made up of $CO_2$ emission coefficients and parameter extraction, project unit setting, parameter setting, and $CO_2$ emission quantity calculation formula set-up. We used Revit Architecture 2013 as BIM tool, and established the steel members' family libraries as BIM libraries. It is possible to calculate the $CO_2$ emission quantity by following the proposed BIM library set-up procedures, and users have only to input the $CO_2$ emission coefficients and unit weights of steel members being used. We expect that the results contribute to practical use of BIM in field, and vitalizations of the eco-friendly construction.

  • This paper considers logistics decision support system which deals with transportation mode selection considering transportation and carbon emission cost. Transportation and carbon emission costs vary with the choice of transportation modes and to become competitive companies need to find proper transportation modes for their logistics services. However, due to the restricted capacity of transportation modes, it is difficult to balance transportation and carbon emission costs when designing logistics network including transportation mode choice for each service. Therefore this paper aims to analyze the trade-off relationship between transportation and carbon emission cost in mode selection of intermodal transportation and to provide optimal green logistics strategy. In this paper, the logistics decision support system is designed based on mixed integer programming model. To understand the trade-off relationship of transportation and carbon emission cost, the system is tested with various scenarios including transportation of containers between Seoul and Busan. The analysis results show that, even though sea transportation combined with trucking is competitive in carbon emission per unit distance travelled, the total cost of carbon emission and transportation for the sea transportation may not have competitive advantage over other transportation modes including rail and truck transportation modes. The sea-based intermodal logistics service may induce detours which have negative impacts on the overall carbon emission. The proposed logistics decision support system is expected to play key role in green logistics and supply chain management.

  • Many kinds of carbon emission monitoring systems or integrated systems have been developed so far. However, despite of the development of related techniques, they tend to be lack of statistic processing functions for feedback and policy-making data for users. In this study, a new CEMS (Carbon Emission Monitoring System) has been suggested and implemented in Sejong City, Korea. This system adapted automatic remote reading system from the site management agency as data hub to collect the electricity, gas and water usage of each household. The CEMS is consisted of 6 parts; carbon emission measurement, carbon emission standard setup and management, statistic analysis and the incentives. CEMS is distinguished with other systems for its UIs for users and the administrators. Also, data sharing with urban information system(UIS) of local government to produce information for users and policy-makers. This system makes it possible to investigate the change of energy consumption patterns, especially depending on the family structure and the housing characteristics. Furthermore, analyzing their correlation with carbon emission, it is expected to provide basic data used to establish urban environmental policies.

The Impacts of Carbon Taxes by Region and Industry in Korea: Focusing on Energy-burning Greenhouse Gas Emissions (탄소세 도입의 지역별 및 산업별 영향 분석: 에너지 연소 온실가스 배출량을 중심으로)

  • This study estimates the regional input-output table and GHG emissions in 2019 and then analyzes the economic effects of carbon taxes by region and industry in Korea. The GHG emission, emission coefficient, and emission induction coefficient are estimated to be higher in manufacturing-oriented metropolitan provinces. The GHG emission coefficient in the same industry varies from region to region, which might reflect the standard of product classification, characteristics of production technology, and the regional differences in input structure. If a carbon tax is imposed, production costs are expected to increase and demand and production will decrease, especially in the manufacturing industry, which emits more GFG. On the other hand, the impact of carbon taxes on each region is not expected to vary significantly from region to region, which might be due to the fact that those differences are mitigated by industry-related effects. Since the impact of carbon taxes is expected to spread to the entire region, close cooperation between local governments is necessary in the process of implementing carbon neutrality in the future.

Calculation of Basic Unit of Carbon Emissions in Operation and Maintenance Stage of Road Infrastructure (도로시설물 운영 및 유지관리단계의 탄소배출원단위 구축)

  • Operation and Maintenance in road infrastructure is repetitive carbon emissions activities to preserve the road in its originally constructed condition. In the view of road planning and construction, operation, and maintenance of life cycle, operation and maintenance stage quantification of carbon emissions is very important because it is easily accessible activities to reduce carbon emissions in road infrastructure that existing and new road. However, carbon emissions estimation in operation and maintenance stage is yet to do, because data collection is so hard and carbon emissions estimation methodology is very complicated. In this study, a basic unit of carbon emission in the operation and maintenance stage of the road infrastructure was developed in order to get the quantitative determination of carbon that occurring. Carbon emissions of the Expressway and Common state road was calculated by using the basic unit of carbon emission and application plan of basic unit of carbon emission are presented.
