Prediction of Column Axial Force in X-braced Seismic Steel Frames Considering Brace Buckling (가새좌굴을 고려한 X형 내진 가새골조의 기둥축력 산정법)

  • According to the capacity design concept underlying current steel seimsic provisions, the braces in concentrically braced frames should dissipate seismic energy through cyclic tension yielding and compression buckling. On the other hand, the beams and the columns in the braced bay should remain elastic for gravity load actions and additional column axial forces resulting from the brace buckling and yielding. However, due to the difficulty in accumulating the yielding and buckling-induced column forces from different stories, empirical and often conservative approaches have been used in design practice. Recently a totally different approach was proposed by Cho, Lee, and Kim (2011) for the prediction of column axial forces in inverted V-braced frames by explicitly considering brace buckling. The idea proposed in their study is extended to X-braced seismic frames which have structural member configurations and load transfer mechanism different from those of inverted V-braced frames. Especially, a more efficient rule is proposed in combining multi-mode effects on the column axial forces by using the modal-mass based weighting factor. The four methods proposed in this study are evaluated based on extensive inelastic dynamic analysis results.

Simultaneous Aero-Structural Design of HALE Aircraft Wing using Multi-Objective Optimization (고고도 장기체공 항공기 날개의 다목적 최적화를 이용한 공력-구조 동시 설계)

  • In this study, simultaneous aero-structural design was performed for HALE aircraft wing. The span and the shape of main spar were considered as design variables. To maximize aerodynamic performance and to minimize weight, multi-objective optimization was used. Nonlinear static aeroelastic analysis was performed to compute large deflection of wing. Design of experiment and response surface method were used to reduce computation cost in the design process. Also, aerodynamic performances of deformed wing and rigid wing were compared.

Alternative Method of Determining Resilient Modulus of Subbase Materials Using Free-Free Resonant Column Test (현장공진주시험을 이용한 보조기층 재료의 대체 $M_R$ 시험법)

  • The stiffness of the subbase materials is represented by the resilient modulus, $M_R$, which are very important properties in the mechanistic design of flexible pavement system. However, the cyclic $M_R$ testing method is too complex, expensive, and time consuming to be applicable on a production basis. In this study, the alternative $M_R$ testing technique for subbase materials was developed using a free-free resonant column (FF-RC) test considering deformational characteristics of subbase materials. To estimate the deformational characteristics of subbase materials, effects of strain amplitude and mean effective stress on modulus of subbase materials were investigated. The $M_R$ values determined by alternative testing procedures matched well with those determined by standard $M_R$ test, showing the capability of the proposed methods being used in determining $M_R$ values.

  • In the trackbed design using elastic multilayer model, the stress-dependent resilient modulus $(E_R)$ is an important input parameter, that is, reflects substructure performance under repeated traffic loading. However, the evaluation method for resilient modulus using repeated loading triaxial test is not fully developed for practical purpose, because of costly equipment and the significantly fluctuated values depending on the testing equipment and laboratory personnel. The this study, the paper will present an indirect method to estimate the resilient modulus using dynamic properties. The resilient modulus of crushed stone, which is the typical material of sub-ballast, was calculated with the measured dynamic properties and the range of stress level of the sub-ballast, and approximated with the power model combined with bulk and deviatoric stresses. The resilient modulus of coarse grained material decreases with increasing deviatoric stress at a confining pressure, and increases with increasing bulk stress. Sandy soil (SM classified from Unified Soil Classification System) of subgrade was also evaluated and best fitted with the power model of deviatoric stress only.

  • As stated in Part(I), the use of the isolator is meant to protect a structure from seismic risk, by concentrating the inelastic deformations to relatively cheap and replaceable devices while the rest of the structures remains elastic. This research has been carried out to investigate the effects of various structural parameters and isolator characteristics on the seismic response of Base Isolated Bridges. Simplified analysis method for practical design is developed by using the results. The Proposed Code-Type approach method can be used to estimate the inertial forces accurately, not only at the isolator but throughout the height of the Base-Isolated Bridges. The proposed method is recommended to use in preliminary design tool or even a final design tool for Base Isolated Bridges. For the validation of simplified design method, examples with artificial earthquake time history and design response spectrum for P.C Box Bridge with bilinear hysteretic steel damper are evaluated.

  • 전자기 접합후의 접합체의 접합력은 압재와 모재사이의 잔류 탄성 변형도에 의해 발생하게 된다. 즉 두 부재사이의 접합강도는 접합후의 잔류 탄성 변형량 및 사용재료의 기계적 강도에 의해 결정될 수 있다. 두 재료의 접합에서 전자기 접합법을 적용하여 얻을 수 있는 이점은, 압재 둘레를 따라 거의 균일한 압력을 작용시킬 수 있으므로 접합체의 외관이 균일하다는 점과 여타의 집합법과 비교하여 공정이 단순하고 비교적 높은 접합 강도를 얻을 수 있다는 점이다. 특히, 높은 접합 강도를 얻기 위해서는 접합체 형상설계, 그리고 이에 따른 자속 집중기 형상의 적합한 설계와 더불어 제공정 인자의 영향 분석을 통한 최적 공정의 선택이 필수적이다.(중략)

  • An efficient dynamic response analysis mettled of structures supported by resilient mounts is presented by using the structural synthesis method in frequency domain and time domain. As a numerical example, a mount-deck system is considered. Through numerical simulations, the validity of the presented method is verified by comparison of the results with those of the 'traditional' analysis method.

A Robust Controller Design for the Position Control of a Spring-Mass System (탄성-질량시스템의 위치제어를 위한 강건 제어기 설계)

  • In this paper, we design a controller using the $\mu$-synthesis method and apply it for the spring-mass system with noncollocated sensors and actuators. We assume that the values of the spring stiffness and load mass of the plant are uncertain. The plant is modeled with parametric uncertainty by using the state space equation, especially the descriptor form. The $H_\infty$ controller designed by the $\mu$-synthesis method is compared with the standard $H_\infty$ controller To compare performances of two $H_\infty$ controllers, it is assumed that both controllers were designed with same weighting functions except that the $\mu$-synthesis controller has structured uncertainties. By compared with the standard $H_\infty$ controller, we show that the designed controller has satisfactory robust performance as well as robust stability by simulations and experiments.

  • In a steel structural system, noncomposite form deck one-way slab is the plate element supported by four-edged steel beams with unequaled stiffness. However, design criterion has analyzed the one-way slab as the continuous beam. Because the end beams that support the one-way slab have elastic supports t hat cause different deflections according to the support conditions and locations, the bending moments corresponding to the support ic support effect is not considered in the design criterion. Accordingly, to conduct a reasonable estimation of approximate moment coefficients considering the unequaled elastic support conditions, this study analyzes and estimates various models with varia bles for the ratios of live load to dead load and pattern arangements of live loads and span lengths. The analytical methods considering the finite three-dimensional plate element, the two-dimensional elastic support and the infinite stifnes suport are performed.

부유구조물 파랑응답 해석

  • 해양공간 활용을 위해 예상되는 부유식 해양구조물은 단위구조들이 결합된 형태의 초대형 구조물로서 단위 구조물간의 탄성변형 문제가 매우 중요시되고 있으며 이에 따라 단위구조물간의 상호작용이 고려된 유체력 산출과 탄성응답이 고려된 해석법의 개발이 전세게적으로 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 독립 부유구조물 자체의 크기가 대형화될 때 발생하는 탄성 변형 또한 구조 해석 및 진동관점에서 중요한 고려사항이며, 이는 조선공학분야에서 유탄성 해석기법에 바탕을 두고 연구가 활발히 진행중이다. 본 고에서는 부유구조물의 설계에 있어 핵심기술중 하나인 파랑응답 해석기술의 현황에 대해 살펴보고 현재 한국기계연구원에서 수행중인 국책연구개발사업 "해양공간이용 대형 복합플랜트 개발"의 세부과제인 "부유구조물 파랑응답 해석기법 개발"의 추진내용에 대해 환경 하중/응답해석기술, 계류시스템 설계/해석기술, 유탄성응답 해석기술로 나누어 소개하고자 한다. 해석기술로 나누어 소개하고자 한다.
