A Study on probability of rebar corrosion After repair method of carbonated existing RC structures (탄산화가 진행된 기존 RC구조물의 보수공법 적용후 철근의 부식확률 평가에 관한 연구)

  • As the importance of maintenance of reinforced concrete structure recently has emerged, the attention of durability of structure has been increasing. There are many studies about durability decline especially due to the carbonation. In order to study carbonation progress after surface repair of carbonated concrete, each carbonation penetration velocity from different repair materials of concrete structure is compared through the experiment of carbonation accelerating CO2 concentration to 100%. As carbonation infiltration progress is predicted through this study, the counterplan of service life evaluation will be prepared on selection of repair materials of concrete structure.

  • As a previous research, improved durability of concrete by filling capillary pores with waste cooking oil was suggested as a method of controlling carbonation of the concrete replaced high volume of SCMs. on the other hand, the emulsified refined waste cooking oil for better mixing performance had a drawback of reducing air content related with decreasing freeze-thawing resistance. As a solution of this problem, surface applying method was suggested instead of adding in mixing process, and in this research, the performance regarding concrete durability are evaluated comparing emulsified refined cooking oil with water-repelling agent.

  • Recent research is needed for the reduction of the pH of the recycled aggregates, recycled aggregates for alkali social problems have emerged. This was confirmed through preliminary experiments using a self-made reactor with dry ice, the possibility of reducing the pH of the recycled aggregates. The pH reduction of coarse recycled aggregates plant was made to apply the field to the middle of construction waste treatment process to reduce the pH of the plant room, and measured the pH change with time. The measurement results showed that dry ice after the reaction, the pH of the aggregate 5% reduction than untreated recycled aggregates.

  • Concrete carbonation is one of the factors that reduce the durability of concrete. In modern times, due to industrialization, the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere is increasing, and the impact of carbonation is increasing. So, it is important to understand the carbonation resistance according to the concrete compounding to secure the concrete durability life. In this study, we want to predict the concrete carbonation velocity coefficient, which is an indicator of the carbonation resistance of concrete, through the deep learning algorithm, and to find the activation function suitable for the prediction of carbonation rate coefficient as a process to determine the learning accuracy through the deep learning algorithm. In the scope of this study, using the ReLU function showed better accuracy than using other activation functions.

  • In this study, the compressive strength and carbonation properties of geopolymer paste according to the amount of alkali admixture added were evaluated for the development of geopolymer concrete that recycles industrial waste. A geopolymer paste specimen was prepared using Ca(OH)2 as an admixture, and the prepared specimen was standard cured for 28 days. After curing, the compressive strength of the specimen was measured. As the amount of alkali admixture increased, the compressive strength increased. After curing, carbonation was carried out for 7 days in a CO2 5% environment. As a result of comparative evaluation of the amount of CaCO3 produced according to carbonation, the amount of CaCO3 produced increased as the amount of Ca(OH)2 added increased. However, when the amount of admixture added exceeds 5%, the increase rate decreases, so the optimum addition rate is considered to be 5%.

  • In recent decades, climate change has become an issue of global importance. The calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement emits lower CO2 than the Portland cements while manufacturing. However, ettringite, which is a main hydration product of CSA cement, starts dehydrating at a temperature above 100℃, hence it may limit the CSA cement for high temperature application. Recently, an early carbonation curing of cement-based material has been extensively studied in terms of carbon neutralization. The carbonation curing of CSA cement has a potential to transform the AFt and AFm phases into calcium carbonate, and the transformation of unstable hydrates to stable hydrates can increase the resistance to elevated temperature. This review study summarizes and discusses the carbonation curing effect of CSA cement and the thermal stability of CSA cement exposed to elevated temperatures.

  • In this study, the strength development characteristics of calcium silicate cement mixed mortar according to carbonation hardening conditions were evaluated. As a result of measuring the compressive strength, the strength increased according to the carbonation hardening time, and the strength increase rate was higher for the specimen with a CO2 concentration of 20%.
